This is a long overdue review for Jack :) The manager Jack at this location is awesome! When I first rent the unit, Jack showed me around the storage, gave me the code and even offered lock option for the unit. On the day of the move in, I was confused as to how the security system worked and the code for some reason did not work. I called in to ask and Jack was able to quickly fix the code issue as well as providing a thorough explanations as to how the gates work & how to make sure my unit was secure. Very responsible, kind and patient, I am glad to have someone like him managing the facility. Would highly recommend! The price for the unit was extremely reasonable as well compare to other storage facilities in San Jose. read more

Unfortunately, this facility was acquired by StoragePro and things have gone downhill quickly. They have a clothes moth infestation that they can't seem to get under control and the floors just keep getting dirtier and dirtier. I asked the very nice new manager when the company cleans and she apologized and said that she does the cleaning when she's not busy in the office! Insane. This company just changed owners and I mmediately noticed that the monthly rate with new company was almost $100 less than what I was paying plus their insurance went up for the same coverage. I called and emailed them to request the rate as advertised and after a month this is what they said....read it carefully, they basically said NO unless I move my stuff to another unit of the same size! I inherited my storage unit for work from my predecessor. When I mapped it out from my house I wasn't exactly thrilled with its proximity. I went to go check it out with the intention of seeing how much I would have to move, but after meeting Doug, I knew I was staying. While Lincoln Ave Self Storage gets a solid 5-stars, I have to give the manager, Doug, 5-stars as well, this is by far the best run storage facility I have used in over 30 years of storage. I've been with Lincoln Ave. for over 1 1/2 years--the highlights for those who are thinking about storing here: --SECURITY. They seem to have multiple-level security, and checkpoints, so they always know who is in the building or least whose code is being used. If you dont use your code to get in, alarms will sound when your until door is raised. The neighborhood is sketchy, I won't lie, but this facility seems to have a lot of secure features in place and I've never had an issue at all. --Clean. I mean REALLY clean. You can tell management cares about this business. The landscaping is maintained. The corridors are swept. There are vermin traps on every "block". You never know what people are storing and when you have dozens or hundreds of units, the potential for someone bringing in a rat-trap hoard are pretty high. Vermin traps ensure that any 'escapees' are dealt with before they get to your unit. There is no odor of decomposition, which tells me that the traps are cleaned out frequently and/or there isn't an ongoing problem. Honestly folks, this is something you want to see when shopping for storage facilities. --Clean bathroom. There is a customer bathroom on the first floor. It is very clean. No crusty gunk in the corners. It actually appears quite sanitary. Not something I've encountered often in my storage career. --Annual rate increases. I was given plenty of notice when the rate changed. I was told when I signed the contract that there are annual rate changes, so I expected it. It was about 5% if I remember correctly, and I rate that as a fair price, considering other facilities that know you'll pay big $$$ to not have to remove your junk if the rate increase is too much. --Billing. I set it up so they tapped my bank account on the first of the month. No problems at all. First of the month, like clockwork. I had a little glitch the first month because my credit card was lost and I forgot to alert the facility, Doug immediately called me, let me know there was an issue and I rectified it immediately and he was very understanding and no late charges. --Management. This is where Lincoln Ave shines. The manager is Doug R. He is phenomenal. Totally old school businessman. His word is his bond. He reminds me of all the folks I grew up with in the City--a handshake and a smile and you know you're going to be well taken care of. That's how business ought to be done. Even though they do all the same contracts as everyone else, there is something about Doug's approach that makes you believe he is a man of his word and he'll take care of you as if you're a family member. I just moved out of Lincoln Ave Storage and he couldn't have been kinder or more accommodating. Would I work with Lincoln Ave again? In a heartbeat. Would I recommend them to friends and family? I have. If you need a safe, secure and clean storage facility, this is the one. If you have problems, I guarantee Doug will do what's necessary to make it right. This is how businesses should be run. The facility is located about 1 min from highway access and is fully secured and spotless. The facility maintains a comfortable temperature inside, even on some of the hottest days of summer. Every time I interacted with them, whether it was Doug, the owner, or one of the employees, I was struck by how pleasant and down-to-earth they were -- a genuine small-town feel in a big city. I had a large (10' x 10') storage locker there for over ten years, and while it cost me a pretty penny to store my stuff, I had no choice until I bought a new, larger house in Southern California. Now that I've finally cleared all my stuff out, I have to say -- and this will sound really funny -- I'm sad because I'm going to miss them! The facility itself is very clean and secure, with a coded entry gate and a compact layout that makes getting to and from your locker easy, unlike some facilities where you have to walk miles to get from one end to the other. Not once did I feel unsafe when visiting the facility. They have convenient flat carts to use when moving your stuff between your locker and your car. I also like the fact that I'm not paying for the expensive television advertising of their competitor, Casa de Mini Storage, which happens to be right around the corner from me. In the modern "customer centric" world, as great as the service may have been there's an element of insincerity. Not the case at this establishment. Doug is the type of old-school operator who understands the importance of connecting with the people that pay him. He always picks up the phone - a joke or two will be had at my expense forgetting the access code once again... but he gets it done. I had the best experience at Lincoln Ave Storage and can't recommend them enough. Doug helped me when I decided to downsize after 1 month and let me leave anything I didn't need in the old storage. He had someone pick it up which helped me so much so I didn't have to lug loads to goodwill etc. I stayed for over 2 years and the place is very well kept. The hours are 7 - 7 everyday so it's a good window to access your belongings. When I was ready to leave Doug said I could have prorated rent if I needed more time and extended my hours so I could push and get it done the weekend I was ready to be out.
