Over a decade! Since 2005 to be exact. Never had an issue, never. Was absolutely happy with the location, price and prior staff. One star for price and one star for location. Negative three stars for security and transparency! Today marks the day of my move out. The sooner the better. I come here once a month to check on things and as I mentioned, for almost thirteen years things were good without any issues whatsoever. Today all that went down the gutter. I sold some items online and came to retreat from storage, upon arriving at my unit I noticed the lock was not mine!! Quickly contacted the staff and alerted. They were "confused" as to why that happened. ??? Staff came to my aid with some bolt cutters! Here is where it gets interesting; the lock BELONGED TO THEM! She quickly took located the key and unlocked, but before opening I asked why they removed my lock, who removed my lock and why wasn't I notified? My payments are up to date so there's no need to "hot lock" my unit! When I opened the door, mercy me, my items were rummaged through! My belongings, pictures, overturned boxes, opened suit cases, all over the place. I asked again: who removed the lock from my unit!!! No straight answer. Went through my belongings, some items missing. Unfortunately the item I sold online was one of them. Opened a renters insurance claim today. Need to coordinate time with work, personal life and agendas to move out! I walked away today with a replacement padlock they provided, a tongue-in-cheek apology, and the advise to call the police if items are missing. Very disappointed. No transparency, little to no information as to why my belongings were in the state they were found. Beware. BEWARE. I don't know if there's other tenants that have had the same experience or if any pending claims to this facility. Luckily before finding the time to review this location I managed to find another storage facility! Indoor location, air conditioned, CCTV and much closer to home! Reserved my spot, a 10x10, same price I'm paying for my 5x10 right now.... Final advice? Your call, but from one hard working individual to the next. Seek elsewhere! Have a great day! The place is clean and good but the staff is very annoying. Once you enter the location you will see two old people. They start eating up your brain with pages of rules and regulations. I felt they do not use their brains in dealing common sense problems. They take their jobs with pride, I understand that, but they are very unfriendly with accessing my stuff. First of all accessing during timings. Even though I went during access hours the old man called cops on me just because I crossed the cut off time by 5 minutes. He made me put all my stuff back as I crossed 5 minutes of access time. What on earth are you trying to proove. The next day even though one of my employees tried to get some stuff with my authorization letter they denied access to my stuff calling cops second time. They wanted only me to go and access my room. I highly recommend not to deal with such crack head people who always try to prove something unworthy making everyone's lives miserable. Find a place where you can access your stuff with peace of mind. I am about to sue these people read more

Love the Staff, Anita and her little chug "Lovey" were adorable. They were very helpful in finding us the right size unit. I love the fact that you can just drive right up to your unit and unload...no elevators, stairs or long awkward hallways that are hard to maneuver. The location is very convenient too. We are paying $60 cheaper than our last spot. My husband and I are very happy, we've settled in for a long stay!! read more

They even sold me a lock since I didn't have one of my own. They have an easy monthly auto-pay option so I don't even have to think about the payment process. Access hours are long. I was looking for a storage unit for a very long time. I met with Darrell and Nick and they were the most helpful tandum. They took the time to show me several units to make sure I found one that would accomodate my needs for my business. After signing my contract I needed to get a an extra space for my company vehicle and again Darrell went out of his way to may that possible for me. I highly recommend using Lock-It-Up-Storage if you need a storage unit. The staff is friendly and helpful. My Mother needed a place to store her stuff after she moved in with my sister following a cancer diagnosis. Darrin and Bill were quite helpful in finding her a storage unit. After moving into it, the unit proved to be too small. They found her a larger unit to move her stuff into immediately. They were always courteous, caring and easy to talk to. We ended up having the unit for almost 2 years. Here are some of the advantages: - excellent customer service, very friendly people - locked gate requiring a code, ensuring only paying/potential customers are are on the lot, and video surveillance of the lot, ensuring your items are safe. - nearby the Montague exit off of the 880 for easy access - there is a U-Haul store just down Montague (corner of Montague and Oakland/Main) if you need to rent a moving truck - a Goodwill nearby (Calaveras exit in Milpitas, Abbot Ave.) if you need to donate items in your storage unit - recycling center a few miles down Montague (east direction in Milpitas, near the corner of Great Mall Ave & Montague) if you need to recycle boxes/packing paper - the storage units are well maintained. Never had a issue with lights/leaking water/door problems. - gates opened from 6am to 8pm, ensuring you can access your stuff when you need to (these hours may change from the time I wrote this, so I'd make sure to check with them). - if you need to sell stuff in your unit, they allow you to have people meet you there to take a look. Just one at a time though, which is fair. You do have to meet them at the gate and let them in/out. Again, highly recommend Lock-It-Up Storage in San Jose. Wouldn't go here a second time, not even for the price. The units are not clean when you move in, but gave an extra star (deserves 1) because my unit managed to not get broken into by their numerous homeless tenants for at least 6 months. read more
