The beds were comfortable and the linens nice. The kitchen and bath were tastefully done with granite and nice fixtures. All was in working order. The location was perfect. A short walk to the Brown Line, easy on street parking, lots of fun places to eat nearby. West Roscoe had an upscale family neighborhood vibe. We ate at the Turkish place and the Vietnamese place - both very good. A note to anyone who books #3. Make sure that you are comfortable with 2 flights of steep stairs. Make sure you know how to reboot a WIFI. And, ask about the A/C which must be on some sort of preprogrammed setting. We happened to be there when it was quite hot, so we had to often set the A/C to manual to cool off. This condo was a great home base for our 4 day weekend. It's always fun to be able to come "home" after a long day of sightseeing and relax and enjoy each others company in a comfortable space.

We go well acquainted with the #50 bus to get us anywhere in the city. Our "wired" set took full advantage of the fast wi-fi connection. I had wanted to stay in a hotel, but my wife thought this would be more "homey" and see was right, it was a great decision. The only downside to us was that the toaster seemed to be hard-wired to the smoke alarm, but once we figured out to turn the exhaust fan one before we did any cooking all was well.

This was also the very first bed-and-breakfast I've ever stayed in my life. I truly enjoyed my stay at this hotel, and will absolutely stay here again... I think I got lucky with my room 3A because it was huge and one of my buddies had a room on the first floor and it was a tiny room. Another buddy of mine stayed in 2A and he had a huge room as well. You have your own private separate bathroom that you can lock and on the third floor there is kind of a meeting area and quiet time starts at 11 PM. They offer a ton of boardgames. If you have a group of people as well as there is a group refrigerator. We all had a chance to visit the speakeasy in the basement and it was so cool and the history of this place really blew me away. The guy at the front desk was really cool and friendly. This hotel is it within walking distance of anything you can imagine in Wrigleyville and there's a small very continental breakfast in the morning which is basically a couple pastries, coffee, orange juice, and hard boiled eggs. Again, I think I paid well under $200 here a night, and it was totally worth it and I plan to come back as long as I can stay in room 3A or 2A.

I would avoid this place if you can. On this company's website they talk about old fashioned…read morehospitality..that's exactly everything they don't have. From the beginning upon arrival they have electronic door handle to enter. Ringing the doorbell they just ignore and calling them you'll be charged $35 a min for phone support. Give me a break. The woman who runs this place has a very arrogant entitled tone. She will send 20 different emails and texts with spam crap after you book the room. Good luck keeping it all straight. It's freezing the codes not working and she wants money to talk to her on the phone just to get into the room you've already paid for??? Wow that's some seriously entitled attitude. I finally get in after 50 different steps like an easter egg hunt. Different keys that aren't labeled for bathroom and bedroom. Keys are in a lock box that you need another code to get into. When I did finally get ahold of the "inn keeper" more old fashioned hospitality she rudely tells me that the directions are in one the lengthy emails she sent. She just couldn't be bothered to due her job and actually check people inn. But she instead sent me 50 different emails. The beds are squeaky with big dips, indents and broken springs. Extremely uncomfortable. Their useful life probably ended 10 years ago but she obviously doesn't care to replace them. The bathroom that was in my room was clearly a total afterthought added to the room. The quality of the work done is that of extremely unskilled no experience home owner special. Definitely not done up to code and barely functional. looked janky and done super cheap, probably by someone who doesn't even own a tape measurer. After I checked out the hotel owner tried to scam me out of an additional $70 more dollars for a robe she says was in my room. This hotel has those $ 50 cent gym towels not actual bath towels let alone a bath robe. Strange I stayed here twice and neither time was there a bath robe in the room. SCAM alert when I tried to stay here I booked the room for one price it was paid for but when I tried to check in the hotel completely cat fished and up'd the price claiming it was the websites error. I don't think it was an error, But once you book it seems super shady to change that price after. But shady is this hotels middle name. I really don't have anything good to say about this place, except for maybe its location.

Check in times were clearly communicated and we were able to arrive on our schedule as all of the details we needed to gain entrance to the building and our room had been communicated to us prior to our arrival. The building itself is clean and cozy. Everything is on the 2nd floor. There is no elevator, but the stairs are wide and not at all hard to climb. If you do have trouble with stairs this might be something to consider, however. The 2nd floor has the guestrooms, a comfortable common area, and a kitchen area. We did not have time to hang out in the common area, but it looked like a nice space to relax: a comfy couch and some chairs, television, board games, writing desk. The kitchen was great. They have everything you need to cover the start of your day: cereal, oatmeal, pastries, coffee, juice, soda, fruit, and more. It's a help yourself kind of thing (you even load your own dishes in the dishwasher), but that makes it super convenient. You can just amble into the kitchen when you wake up and grab anything you want. This was a really nice feature. The room itself (we were in room 2) was clean and well appointed. It was not fancy, but it had everything we needed: bed, a place to hang up clothing and jackets, a television, a few chairs. The bed was comfortable. The room was a little warm and we could not figure out if we could adjust the heat, but adjusting the ceiling fan was all we eventually needed to make the room the right temperature. We had a private bathroom, but it was not attached to our room. We had to leave our room and cross the hallway. This was not a big deal for us, but something to think about if that kind of thing might make you uncomfortable. It looks like some of the rooms might contain a bathroom that is en suite, so if that is important to you maybe it is something you can request when you book your stay. The bathroom itself was clean. The shower was awesome, by the way. I really recommend staying here. It was comfy and cozy. The building itself was quiet. We could occasionally hear someone cough in another room, but it was not at all noisy. The neighborhood was also quiet. It's close to the L and within walking distance of some great restaurants and bars. We took advantage of the unseasonably warm weather and walked quite a bit Saturday night. There is quite a bit of street parking, but I recommend grabbing a spot before it gets too late. We parked around 4:30 and did not have trouble finding a spot, but when we came back for the night there did not appear to be many (if any) open spots. I'd say get a spot early and then use something like Lyft or public transportation to get around the city. We would definitely come back the next time we're looking for a place to stay in the city. It more than covered our needs and we really enjoyed our stay.

And because I rented it out, sight-unseen, from New Mexico and rolled into town the day I was meant to rent it out, I was so impressed at how the business end was tailored to accommodate my situation (I couldn't pay, or even give a deposit to the owner, until the day I arrived - as a dozen girls had to mail me their share of the cost). We arranged the Friday thru Sunday stay for my sister's bachelorette party and it was an incredibly pleasant experience. All the girls thought the house was to die for... It is a no-joke mansion. I suppose if you live in a castle somewhere you might think it's the usual thing, but it was jaw-droppingly beautiful to us. We spent much of our first day and a half there running into each others rooms and shrieking "DID YOU SEE THIS/THAT?" Everyone who has seen the photos is amazed at the place, and my extended family is thinking of renting it out for next year's family reunion since it's super close to Wrigley, and that's kind of our thing. :) *** N - thank you so much for a lovely weekend and all of your help. We very narrowly made it to destination before check-in at the front desk closed at 8pm-- whew! Unfortunately they didn't have any parking left, but they gave us a helpful tip to use some sorta "parking hero" app or whatever and that worked out fine for us for the three days we were staying there. The staff we encountered during our stay were all pleasant (though they were also scarce... the place seemed pretty quiet and almost ghostly while we were there!). Exploring the inside of this place was fun and exciting. From the computer room to the community space to the kitchen to the outdoor deck, this felt like a place where you could settle in and relax awhile, moreso than a regular hotel accommodation. I do like the communal nature of hostels. I loved the bright colors inside this hostel, from upbeat lime greens to exciting oranges and pleasant blues. I like something that isn't afraid to have a little spark and style. Unfortunately I can't give five stars though because they discontinued serving continental breakfast (which we didn't know when we booked), so we had to walk to the 7-11 a block away to get a quick crappy morning meal each day (cuz we didn't have the $ to blow on fancier breakfast fare... thus why we were staying in a hostel to begin with, pfft). We did appreciate the food storage situation however; we were able to keep a gallon jug of milk in the fridge to enjoy throughout our stay, and if we'd been there longer, I'm certain we would've also used the kitchen to prep meals. Go ahead and check the cabinets and such for communal leftovers-- another nice thing about this set up is less food waste! My husband enjoyed some peanut butter on toast just using what was left by other folks who'd already checked out. The other issue I'll mention was the wild temperature fluctuations in our room. We were situated in one of the singles in the basement and half the time it was really cold (like you wanted to keep your jacket on) and the other half the time it was hella warm (and you needed ALL of your clothes off, no covers on the bed). I have no idea what was going on with that. Also there was some sound outdoors that sounded like someone far away just holding their car horn all night long (not the hostel's fault, but annoying for a light sleeper like me), and the streetlight coming in from the inadequate blinds at night made it rough to get a solid night's sleep as well. Overall though, the quality we got for the price we paid was A-OK! Bonus points for being a proudly safe space for LGBTQ+ community! There were little pride flags scattered everywhere.
