Former patient leaving a frustrating review. I quite liked Dr Barkodar for the 1.5 years she was my primary care physician. She's really great and the staff is super polite and crazy clean office. If she were in any other practice, she'd have 5 stars and still be my PCP. Sadly, I had a very poor experience with the Managing partners billing practices to the level where it caused me to question whether they prioritize patient health and safety over a chance to bill more $ and is the sole reason I left the practice. Specifically, I rely on regular monthly medications and for some reason the RX rarely if ever comes with refills. Which by 2022 standards should be fine, the pharmacy usually digitally or by phone requests a refill as soon as I'm out and the next time I need one *poof* I have a refill waiting for me. Curiously in April of 2022, the managing partner Dr. Ali (whom I've never seen) charged my insurance $150 for an office visit on a day I was never there. When I called to inquire, and after 2 weeks of getting the run-around from the office manager Michael, I was finally told that they now code refills as office visits - but they've agreed to waive the deductible and zero out my balance as a "one time courtesy", but going forward the policy was to charge $150 office visit for any and all refills. Given its a monthly medicine and they don't make a habit of writing scrips with refills for some reason - seems like a billing practice to syphon an additional $1800/year which is such a shameless money grab it made me lose faith in the healthcare I'd be provided. In the future I would question any recommended test, check-up, procedure or lab work not knowing if it was medically necessary or just another opportunity to bill my insurance provider. Their billing practices may be within the bounds of the acceptability for the insurance provider, but is enough to make me lose faith in the office culture of prioritizing patient health over billing opportunities. I've been to Dr. Barkodar's office several times over the last year, and I'll never return again. The staff is nothing short of rude. You walk in the door, they look at you - and say nothing. This happened every time (been there four times). I overlooked it because I liked Dr. Barkodar. But last week was the last straw. I booked an annual physical, and took the time to go there. It's nowhere near where I live. Ten minutes into talking to the doctor, I brought up the physical, and she said she didn't know I was there for a physical. She said "I don't have time to do that today." I wasted three hours roundtrip going to this appointment. My time = not important. I'm only the patient. I didn't throw a fit, but I called a few days later. When I followed up with the office to reschedule my physical, I explained their snafu, and said I didn't want to have to pay my $30 copay to return for the physical (which I had already traveled for, fasted for, and already paid the $30 copay for) The receptionist argued with me and said if I saw the doctor at all, that is what the copay is for. I explained that I didn't get the treatment I had scheduled (and gotten confirmation about via Zocdoc). She never acknowledged the inconvenience. She just became defensive. Wow. No one in this stupid situation ever even said "gosh, so sorry that happened" Nothing. This experience highlighted things I overlooked in past appointments, which is long wait times + they leave you in a room for long periods of time. Every single time I have been there, I'd eventually venture out of the room to make sure I hadn't been forgotten about entirely (which I had). I like Dr. Barkodar, so this is a shame. Terribly managed practice all around. This is the PPO experience in Beverly Hills California. Healthcare in America is a joke. Looking for another doctor. I don't recommend this place at all. read more

Dr. Barkodar and her staff are excellent. The best medical care I have ever received!

I really like Dr. Barkodar as a person, but I recently received a bill for lab work that I had done as part of a routine yearly physical. There was some sort of mixup and my lab work was apparently sent to a lab that doesn't take my insurance, so now I'm stuck with a $500 lab bill that I have no control over. I contacted her old office at Platinum Care and her new office and the former never got back to me and the latter said there was nothing they could do. As a patient, I did not have any control over where my blood work was sent. While I received kindness and care when I worked with Dr. Barkodar, this shows an overall lack of care and consideration for the patient. The entire experience matters. read more

I'm writing this review based on my point of view of a husband watching his wife deteriorate in front of my eyes. I've seen my wife struggle, misdiagnosed, dismissed, mistreated and worse her passion for life that is contagious ripped apart one doctor visit at a time. Dr. Barkador gave her a second opinion, dove into her results, her history, & systematically investigated all the possible ROOT CAUSES of her ailments...meaning she didn't simply put a band-aid on her SYMPTOMS with prescription meds that do nothing but create new side effects. I saw Dr Barkodar for my annual physical at La platinum care. They moved recently to a great location in a new building right next to Toca Madera. I've had other doctors before but I was blown away by her thoroughness. She spent a lot of time getting to know me and my whole history. There were many things she made me more aware of that I hadn't realized. I liked the fact that she didn't rush to give me medications but pointed out lifestyle changes that I can make in general. I feel that I'm lucky to have found Dr Barkodar and that I have found my doctor for life. I am confident in her abilities and trust her judgment. She is very easy to talk to and is very responsive to calls/emails. She is genuinely concerned about my health and wants to ensure a positive experience. She also has a lot of empathy which is hard to find this day in age in health care. The front staff was also very helpful and the assistant who helped me (can't remember her name) was also very nice. Parking is very tight there, there is garage parking next to the building. All in all I was very pleased with my annual physical and visit with Dr Barkodar and I look forward to to my next visit. One of the worst experiences i've ever had at a doctor. Dr Barkodar came in and ordered multiple tests so I scheduled a follow up visit to review these tests. I drive an hour to see her, am in the waiting room for an hour and a half, am in the back for ANOTHER 45 minutes just for Dr Barkodar to tell me they have LOST all 14 samples of blood they drew from me and they have to recollect blood and i'll have to come back another day. She did not even apologize. And why make me wait more than 2 hours to tell me you lost everything? On top of that The nurse was continuously commenting on my shirt and how he thought it was too revealing, he'd never let his daughter wear that etc. It was just a tank top that went almost up to my collar bones (it was also 95 degrees outside). Also trying to preach his religion down my throat while i was just trying to get my blood pressure taken. read more

Full disclosure about payment for my visit was not given at the time of making the appointment 4days prior. Night before appointment I was called and told what the cost would be ($200) if I asked any additional questions outside of the main reason for my visit. I need to make separate appointments in order to avoid charge. Never had this experience at any practice when developing a trusting partnership with a doctor. Woman on phone was rude. Cancelled. Now back to looking for a new GP, they wasted my time. read more

I adore Dr. Linda Barkodar! I called her old offices two times before getting a response and found out that she has moved on to a new practice. I am so so soooo very happy that she still takes my insurance! Because of her suggestion to try Whole30 when I was having weight issues, I have slimmed down dramatically and feel great. I have never had a doctor who actually cared what happened to me. She is the best. And I recommend her to all my friends. And you of course! read more

She is an excellent doctor, very sharp intelligence and has extremely good diagnostic skills. All the positive reviews are correct. I am a PhD health care scientist myself, and am very selective when it comes to choosing my PCP. She runs needed tests and is very diligent in her follow-ups. The only criticism that I might have would be with her current office staff, Platinum Care, which is sometimes highly inefficient in getting messages to her. I highly recommend her for anyone who wants a good PCP. read more

I was torn on whether to write this review but ultimately feel it's important to inform others decisions to get the healthcare they deserve. I was beyond stunned of the lack of thoroughness and consideration for patient care by Dr. Barkador and her team. I was so nervous about my bloodwork and going to the doctor during COVID I didn't realize how poorly this was all managed until I left. Here's everything neglected in my visit/annual physical: -No one took my temp once entering the office or touching anything, and didn't screen me for symptoms. In fact someone else walked in and said they're here for the "cough test" which was a COVID test since they then said they'll get a 24 hr result. The waiting area is tiny and with five of us waiting during the first appointment time, we were not safely distanced. - I got a flu shot lying down and the nurse left after giving it. When I stood up to leave, the syringe was nested under my leg (not discarded in safety syringe box). - she did not do an exam looking in my nose mouth or ears. - no eye exam or visual exam. - no questions about how often I exercise. - I stated an extensive fam hx of breast cancer and she neglected to do a breast exam - when I asked for metal checks in my blood she said it won't be covered; then I asked her even if my diet is high in fish (Mercury) she said she'd try to get it justified (but wasn't trying on her own to find justification to check certain things). - they did not take my height -Without a height you can't address BMI which is extremely important, mine is under 18 which has always been addressed by other doctors I've seen. - no medical history or personal history was taken in intake forms - just had to sign a HIPAA form and financial paperwork for the office to collect fees under circumstances. - at the end they said we need to come back for a second appointment (additional charge) to review blood work and they refuse to release it otherwise (this wasn't disclosed as a new patient). - doctor also spent much less than 30 mins with me and was late by 30 mins despite being first appt of the day There's definitely more that happened but this is the jist of it. With so many people sicker rather than healthier in our country, I expected a better, more thorough physician. The Dr was serious, but nice. She works in BH and went to great schools. Unfortunately that's not enough to keep people healthy and on top of their well-being. They need to advocate for patients better and care more. I hope this helps others find better health care that they deserve. Never had I experienced lack of care like this. read more

I am in my 50s so I've had a lot of doctors in my life. But Dr. Barkodar is easily the worst and most unethical. Among the reasons why I would give her less than one star if I could: She insisted on redoing blood tests I'd had two months previously. Without telling me, she tested for every sexually transmitted disease, including HIV, even though she hadn't asked if I was sexually active. She also insisted I needed an ECG, despite no history of heart disease and a blood pressure of approximately 100/65 (nice and low). She hadn't even listened to my heart and she didn't wait for my blood test results, which would have shown her that I have low cholesterol and lots of good cholesterol. However, she does have an ECG machine in her office, which means she was able to charge for the test. She also tested for Vitamin B12 and told me I should come back for weekly shots. My levels were on the low side, but within the normal range. As to a normal, but somewhat low, low blood protein level, her sole advice consisted of two words: "eat better." Considering she never asked about my diet, this advice assumed that I'm not already eating well and that if I'm not, I would know what better is. This may sound innocuous, but a low total protein level can suggest a liver or kidney disorder, or a disorder in which protein is not digested or absorbed properly, including celiac disease or inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). She did not ask if I had a history of any of these diseases (I do). Worst of all, she pulled me off of the dosage of a medication I had been on for 25 years - even though I had emailed her before seeing her to ask her if she had a problem with it, which she said she didn't, and the dose, though on the high side, is within the normal range for my condition. I agreed, however, to try her to cut back, on the understanding that if it didn't work, she would return me to a higher does. Only after 3 office visits within a 2-week period (and her refusal to follow up by phone) did she acknowledge that she was putting me through "torture" (her word), but she wasn't willing to lose her license. This is utter nonsense. I wasn't abusing this medication and had been on it for a quarter of a century. Finally she told me that if I didn't like it she would write me a 30-day prescription and refer me to a specialist -- but when I asked for a name she changed her mind and told me she wasn't comfortable referring me to someone else. Not giving a patient a referral is a violation of the California Medical Board's guidelines for severing the physician/patient relationship and contrary to California civil law. If you've read this far, I hope you are sufficiently horrified into staying away from this money-grubbing excuse for a physician. Otherwise, be prepared to pay dearly for tests you don't need and advice you can't use. read more

Dr. Barkodar is an exceptional physician that I had to unfortunately see when I was visiting my sister in L.A. I am a physician myself and try not to treat myself. It was complete luck that I found her practice and she did me a really big favor by squeezing me into her schedule even before she found out I was a doctor. I would go back to her again if ever in L.A. But really hope I do not have to. She was thorough, empathetic, smart, and kind. I highly recommend this physician. read more

I can't even begin to explain how great Dr. Barkodar is!! He has truly helped me and my family go through a very difficult period. He held my hand through every step of the way, intently explained to me what I was going through and will plan on going through. He calmed all my nerves and made sure I was okay. As far as my family, everyone was so worried about me, and Dr. Barkodar was always there to talk to my family, explain to them what was happening, and calming down their nerves as well. Dr. Barkodar is by far the best physician I have ever seen. She is incredibly intelligent, thorough, and very caring. It is clear that she has excellent training, and she always thinks about all possibilities when discussing my medical problems. You can also tell how much she really cares about the patient. She always takes the extra time to really listen to my concerns, answers all my questions, and follows up to see how I am doing. Her office at PlatinumCare LA is beautiful, clean, and in a great location. They also have a parking garage on site which makes coming in for an appointment easy & convenient. I love love love Dr. Barkodar!!!! She took the best care of me and my husband when we were living in LA. We never felt rushed when we with her. She always took the time to explain everything to us in a way that we would understand and answer all of our questions. My husband isn't the best when it comes to taking care of his health, but Dr. Barkodar got him on track and really encouraged him to get his act together. I could not be more thankful to Dr. Barkodar. I am sad to have had to leave her practice, and hope that I can find such a kind, compassionate doctor in Northern California.
