    Baby pool for dogs
    Sherri H.

This is an awesome dog park! It was founded by two lovely ladies, Terri and Sally. They saw a need for a dog park after bringing their dogs and using the baseball field for awhile, but then were locked out. They approached the city council in 2009 and it was quickly approved and installed. There are 3 openings each with a double gate system, water hose that can fill up a water bowl and a small baby pool, supply of tennis balls, poop bags and trash cans. There are multiple covered benches for dog owners to sit and watch their pups play. The city maintains the park. There is a big dog area and a small dog area and an agility course that was installed by a young man working on his Eagle Scout project. There is lots of grass, but also dirt that can get muddy but it's like a sandy dirt so it's not too messy after a rain. Thank you Terri and Sally for your vision and the City of Galveston for making this dog park a reality!

Awesome Dog Park!! I had no idea Galveston had this big of a dog park. 2 fenced areas for them to run with tennis balls and water. And two areas with obstacle courses for dogs! Definitely going to bring my pup back!

Inside the big dog park, can see the small dog park on the back right

Dog park is improved since my last visit! It's bigger and now has a separate section for small dogs. Awesome...

Lovely fenced in park. With plenty of room for the dogs to run and play. Park was very clean in a quiet neighborhood.

Ask the Community - Lindale Park

I envision this park hosting an arts festival, annual yard-sale, movie-in-the-park, kickball league, fall hay ride, farmers market, or community garden? I've seen great success with this idea in other super neighborhoods.

There's doggie bags available, and 4 or 5 water bowls of all sizes next to a water hose.

You can find a fishing pier, playground, picnic area, and great views of Galveston Harbor. Entrance fee is $10 a vehicle to park and visit the park. If you want to tour the historic ship and sub, it will be an extra charge of $10-15 a person but is not mandatory to visit the park. My family enjoyed walking around the park, taking in the sights of fisherman hauling in their catch, the wildlife (pelicans, dolphins, sea turtles), and the ships passing through and by the harbor. We also decided to tour the sub and destroyer from WW2. It took about an hour for us to walk through both ships, self guided. A fair amount of history with both vessels but wish the tour would have been a little longer, especially on the destroyer. Fun time to spend an afternoon in Galveston, great for families. If you skip the ships, it makes for a very cheap activity while in Galveston. Even with the ships, it is still pretty affordable afternoon.

What I loved the most was that my husband was able to navigate a good portion of the park with his walker. We parked in the north lot at first. There was a nice concrete path that led from the north parking lot across a fun bridge and almost down to the area where the senior playground is. The rest of the path was in gravel, which he was still able to navigate with his walker (probably will be difficult for some walkers, but his has four big wheels and a seat). He got plenty of exercise with his walk, resting now and then on his seat! I then left him at the senior playground to wait for me while I walked back, got the car, and drove down to the parking lot there. Then, I had fun using the equipment that was there, including the swing! Fun day, especially since my husband could enjoy it with me. If you have a handicapped loved one and need a fun place to go, try Carbide Park!
