Pretty much a hidden gem and I discovered it with the Houston Women's Hiking group Southeast edition when we did a Sunday hike. Yesterday, I came back and did a solo walk that was 4.9 miles. You can say that's pretty much a hike by then. This park has both walking and biking trails; I like to do nature walks and loop back into the concrete paths. The very end leads you to a residential area and furthermore walking, but I stop at the loop. Be careful if you decide to walk the trails in the evenings since careless dog owners love to have their dogs roam without the leash despite the leash laws. I've had three big dogs come up to me and their owners were no where to be found. I love the local artwork in the park; it's so vibrant and nice to look at. There are two dog parks for small and large dogs, but since they are considered a cesspool (that's how my veterinarian described it), I don't take my dog here. The dog parks are huge and apparently maintained on Mondays so they are closed. Unlike other parks I've been to, this one has restrooms near the basketball courts. There is a large parking lot and a field for baseball too. The paths for the bike trails are dirt, some rocky, but trekking poles aren't needed since majority of the path is flat. However, if you go deep into the woods where the trails continue on, there are some parts that are steep in slope. This is a pretty well rounded park that has everything for everyone. I've even seen people fishing in the bayous. Lynn Gripon is very near Challenge Seven park, but as you know Challenger 7 trails are under construction so this is the best best thing! So two weeks ago me and my dog were both attacked and both got bit up pretty badly. The guy had a Doberman and I think the Husky was also his. The Husky attacked my dog and would not let go of him, the large strong man tried to pull him off and in the mist of that I got my hand bit. The guys other dog came up behind me and bit my hamstring which I had to get stitches on and also stitches in my hand. My dog also had to go to the doctor's office as well, with a wound to his ear. The guy left the park and never came back to check on us and exchange information. I do appreciate the people there checking on me but no on stopped the guy to get his information. Its a nice dog park and the people were nice but after going for a few weeks you can tell the dogs kind of clique up and that can be scary when they are hovering over your dog and trying to pick a fight. If you go I would say stay away from the morning group 6:30-9:00am. read more

WOW! Or should I say Bow Wow! This review is my 100th review for 2017 and it is literally going to the dogs. Today (11/12/17) was the ribbon cutting grand opening for the new dog park in League City, Bark Park at Countryside. This park is truly unbelievable. It is by far the nicest dog park in the entire Clear Lake area. The two areas are divided by size; above and below 25 lbs. Both sides are extremely nice. Today, there were well over 100 dogs and families in the park and it did not seem crowded. The amount of space that the dogs have to roam and run is amazing. With the tunnels and hills, I think the kids were having as much fun as the dogs. The League City Dog Park Association did an amazing job designing this park. First, they left the trees in place to provide plenty of shade for the humans that come with their dogs. There are several benches donated by League City businesses for the seating. There are also tables but food is not allowed inside the dog park (food is allowed in the adjoining Countryside Park). There is running water for the dogs to drink fresh water. There are several fire hydrants that spray water as well. Once Fido is finished with his playtime, this dog park also has two elevated wash stations just outside the fenced in areas so you can wash off any mud they may have gotten into while frolicking around the park. They do ask that dog owners clean up after their pets if they defecate inside the fenced area. Dogs under 4 months are not allowed. Neither are dogs in heat or sick dogs. Aggressive dogs should be removed. The park is open from 7:30AM to sunset. Bottom Line: This is the best dog park I have ever been to. Excellent area for both large and small dogs. Plenty of space. This is a MUST visit dog park. You will not be disappointed. read more

I have been meaning to review this great park here on Yelp. I'm happy to see that the reviews of this place actually reflect how awesome this place is. This dog park is massive, it has small and large dog area. There are also a lot of park seats scattered all over the park. It gets really fun during peak hours because a lot of dogs are starting to visit. They are also planning on a doggy pond so that would be super cool when that happens. Overall the park is definitely a great addition to League City! If you have a dog and like taking them to dog parks, this one is definitely a must go! read more

What a great park! Came here on a beautiful Saturday afternoon and there were probably about 50 dogs there. The park was super clean for so many dogs so kudos to the other owners for picking up after their dogs. There was a but of a mud pit in the middle which a few dogs were taking full advantage of. On the outside of the park is a couple dog wash stations so bring a towel if you come to visit. I would love to see them put a walking trail along the inside of the park so you can get your steps in while your dog plays. It is a beautiful, well maintained park and I can't wait to come back! read more

I did not like this location. It's muddy, small, and there is no path to walk on. My ideal dog park is one that is a combination of this one and Bay Area (size plus dog pond). Until then, I'll keep going to Bay Area. Edit: from 2 star to 1. Since one of the people associated with the park felt the need to contact me and respond in a way that is intended to shame me for my opinion and review, they now get ONE star. Maybe the next time they feel like doing good for the community, they will prioritize the needs of the community. A DRY walking path for humans is more important than a dog wading pool, and I'm sure a 20K path is less expensive. There is also no pavilion covering or shelter. Finally, contrary to what Mel claims, mud is not created from overuse. The only thing this park has that's a benefit is location for nearby residents. I repeat myself : THIS DOG PARK IS SMALL! If you have a large dog he/she won't be happy. We usually have trouble getting our dog to leave Bay Area dog park; but here, she can't wait to leave. We went a few times when people and dogs are expected to be there (after work) but there were hardly any other dogs. The park size at Bark Park is half of that of Bay Area, if not less. The cute doggy ponds are not enough to convince my baby this is a better dog park. Dogs want to run and play with other dogs in open space. Our baby does not care about the pond or the obstacle course. And we care about a walking path and shelter. read more

This park has a little bit for everyone: basketball courts, soccer field, baseball fields, canoe put in, jogging/bicycle trail, and dog park. Not a huge park but laid out well so that it does not feel crowded. I come here for the put in and the jogging trail. The put in is a little muddy but par for this area (Clear Creek). The jogging trail inside the park is not that long but winds through adjoining neighborhoods and comments to a couple of small neighborhood trails. Visited this place with my brand new pup today! Gorgeous park. I'm new to dog parks, but I thought it was super nice with great things for dogs to play with and lots of space for both big and small pups. There was quite a bit of unpicked up dog poop so maybe a sign that says something more strict for trashy people to fee compelled to follow this simple rule??!! read more

Great dog park! Great trail for running. The path is paved and I'd say the majority of it is shaded... like 75% shaded. I usually prefer gravel trails or dirt trails but this one provides enough flat ground to use the soft ground next to the pavement. Since it's only 12 minutes from my house, I'm going to use this trail more often! I wasn't able to do the whole trail but I want to say it's about 4 miles long. I completed 3 miles today! Runners! Come one, come all! This is also a great trail for biking. read more

This dog park is going down hill from a year ago when we first started coming. Now vandals are stealing the water bowls and moving the nice benches. What a shame! I hope they lock the gates at closing time. This is only going to get worse. Several dead trees need removing, also. Also someone shoved a large canvas chair into one of the large trash cans. Sugar and I attend Bark Park at countryside at least once a week if not multiple times a week. This dog park is so much better than Bay Area dog park. Theres so much more open space for Sugar to run and play with other dogs. Also, shes a small corgi, and all the dogs at this dog park have always been friendly towards her, and she feels much more comfortable with the dogs here than she did at the Bay Area dog park. Since they fixed the mud issue with the fountains the park is perfect!!! We can go without the dreaded bath time afterwards! Cant wait for the dog pond! read more

This park is small and nice. The people are usually nice. There is a tall blonde who always brings her corgis into the large dog park. They harass the large dogs and nip at them and she won't take them to the small side because her dogs are terribly behaved. Every time she comes into the dog park 4-5 large dogs have to leave. She's very stuck up. She will talk mess about all the other dogs when hers are causing the issue. We were having fun until we had to leave because of her. read more

Best dog park I have ever been to! So much fun watching the pups play. Dog pond is coming soon also. There is fire hydrants with mist, water fountains, obstacles, tunnels, hills, and places to sit while you watch your dog play. I used to have to go to Houston for a good dog park, but there is one 3 minutes away from my house. This is very convenient because my dog can interact with dogs, and I know that she won't escape or wander around. Lovely people there and atmosphere! There is a separation between big and small dogs, 25 lb. under is small, and 25 lb. over is big dogs. League City is a growing city and this is just one, of the many, benefits of LC!. read more

Excellent dog park with dog bag stations two separate areas for small dogs and big dogs things for dogs to play on and to dog wash stations. They also have a beautiful dog statue out front. Good for taking a picture of your dog with. The downside is on the other side of the human park they have signs warning about snakes and to be Gator aware near the water. So excited we finally have a dog park! Yeah, there was a little mud in the beginning but THANKFULLY THE CITY STEPPED UP AND FIXED IT! How awesome is it for the city and a non profit to be so involved in the Park!?! We are so thankful. The Park is beautiful, the amenities are gorgeous and the park is huge. This park was the site of the Bay Area Habitat for Humanity Aerospace Games, and worked perfectly for that function. The park is spacious with covered basketball courts, a volleyball court, two softball fields, a football field, trails for walking/running, and water access for kayaking. Its kept in good condition and has decent restrooms (a huge plus!). read more

Really like this park...it's big and really nice; however, the mud from the water fountains is absolutely terrible!! We have to not only hose our dog off at the park but he gets a bath EVERY TIME we go because the mud has sat and stinks, causing him to stink. Zero stars. Drove all the way there, unloaded two large energetic puppies...only to get to gate surf sign that just says "closed for maintenance". That sign is right next to a sign that says open 7 am to sunset. Super. Called the phone number & it's a machine that says it's a boutique...? So frustrating. read more

Plenty of space for my German Shepherd to get tuckered out. Lots of buddies to play with. Doggy bags for messes are on site. Has a water fountain for the thirsty pups. Safely fenced all around. Benches and picnic tables for us humans. Big dog and small dogs sections are separate. There is a shower to wash off the mess if needed. I highly recommend this place for socialization. I have been there many many times and have never been disappointed. The only downside is that it closes after dark. I hope one day they can put up lights and make it available for us night owls. read more
