Situated right on Congress street in a bustling downtown location, this place is a pure gem. Giant windows in the front allow for a lot of natural light, which adds even more to the wonderful ambience they have going on here. No harsh lighting here! The decor is simple yet beautiful. The hair stylists work well together and are super friendly! You can really tell that the owner takes pride in her work, as do her employees. The bathroom even has a glamorous feel! I told her I'm really bad at explaining what I want but I just want to freshen up my roots for this weekend which I have a special event and my hair was looking too dark on the top and light on the bottom. I showed a few different pictures hoping she could choose one that was realistic and worked with what I have, making it clear I don't really know or care what exactly I want done but overall just needed to lighten the roots even just a little bit kinda pull a little lightness up for a fresh and cleaner look. I told her I understand it's not going to be exactly like any of the pics or perfect in any way, but she wasn't willing to try anything.. literally asked me to leave, saying we're not a good fit. I was shocked. I asked if she could at least do something, like a few highlights or even just toner or SOMEthing, and that I would come back again so we could work toward my desired look little by little. She didn't even offer to blow dry it so I would at least have nice hair for my event, she just kicked me out because I didn't have an exact specific thing I wanted done, or I guess it wasn't clear enough to her. I was forced to leave the salon with the same frizzy salon-day-just-woke-up-hair/ ready-to-get-my-hair-done hair, which completely ruined my plans for the day and the weekend as now I have to make time to wash and style and do my own hair on a very tight schedule. I almost feel like I did something wrong since I literally got kicked out of her salon, like I'm being punished. I'm a pretty shy/polite person; I was smiling the whole time and just wanted her professional input. After getting asked to leave I sat in the parking lot for an hour, sort of in shock, and started calling other salons to see if I could get a last minute appointment. But of course now it's late on a Friday afternoon so I have no choice but to make do with this frizzy mess for my special weekend. I'm in absolute shock. Very cold and unfriendly atmosphere. Not exactly the customer service I expected from a business owner. I felt kinda bad about myself after this experience, but I'm going to get over it right now and be the positive person that I am so I'm just happy and thankful to God for everything and every experience that I have, both the bad and the good, and embrace my hair for what it is right now!

This year I was last minute and called around the morning I was looking to get my hair done. Lo and behold, Green With Envy had an opening for me that morning! I worked with Marissa - I told her that my hair is the thinnest crap on earth and that I never get it done - and she was very friendly and didn't judge my heinous, spaghetti-string hair. She gave me a quote and we went to it! Marissa did foils for me - I wanted to go blonder - and she also gave me a cut to get rid of the dead ends. It looked SO. GOOD. I have gotten so many compliments. Her skill with color is seriously like nothing I've ever seen before. She made sure to keep it natural looking but very clearly lighter. I am so happy with the outcome. They offer tea/water/coffee when you walk in, they use heated towels for the shampoo, and they give you a neck massage before your haircut. It's all pretty baller. That being said, it's priiiiiiicey. My cut and color was $250 before tip (they charge for each refill of bleach/color, and for toner, which I had never been charged for before). Be sure to bring your credit card and ask for a quote beforehand so you aren't totally blindsided. This is a gorgeous and relaxing salon right in Monument Square with some fabulous stylists that want you to be comfortable. If you go, GET MARISSA, because she's the Kween. I'll save my pennies and go back when I can!

The mirrors and chandeliers are amazing touches! You are offered a drink upon arrival which is always a nice touch. As well as a complimentary eye brow wax and neck massage!!! It was awesome! I also really enjoyed the products that Kayla used in my hair. Kayla really is an amazing beautician. She cares about her clients needs and listens to your concerns. She always takes her time and makes sure that your cut is just right. She is a perfectionist in order to make sure you feel and look amazing when you leave. For many years I had my hair colored and loved the results but when I got to a certain age (55 or so) I felt it was time the let nature take it's corse and stop coloring my hair and embrace the gray. jewels came up with a plan to help me gradually transition to my natural color.
