This is actually a container that's wrapped up and filled with truffles. Imagine if this was a BIG truffle...

If you have a sweet tooth, and love chocolate, then this is one store you would not want to miss. Would be 4.5 stars - This really isn't an outlet store, but that doesn't mean you have to skip this place. If you're not familiar with this brand, but you do like Ghirardelli chocolate, then you might want to give this place a try. Believe it or not, Lindt owns Ghirardelli. I've always liked Lindt ever since I was a little kid. Lindt used to have stores in Woodbridge (closest), Menlo Park, Bridgewater, and Woodbury Commons Premium before making the disappointing decision of closing all of them down. Maybe you remember those locations personally. Now the closest locations from my area appear to be in NYC and here. What I've always liked about Lindt was the taste, which was never too sweet for me, compared to other brands (NOT including Ghirardelli). I've always loved their truffles and specialty bars. I'll settle with either 90% dark (YES - I LIKE IT), milk, or white, since they're all good to me! Usually I end up getting that good stuff at Lindt's stores. The store size of this particular location was no different than the ones on 5th Avenue (small to medium sized), and it looked nice and clean. The place also smelled like chocolate too, which was nice. Bagged truffles and specialty bars were neatly aligned on both sides of the store. In the middle of the store was the area where you could bag up your own assortment of truffles. They even carried some imported bars too, and since some unique flavors grabbed my attention, I snagged a couple (check my pics). In regards to pricing, don't expect to pay extreme low prices here. Whenever an item is on sale, then the price is good. The prices for the imported chocolate bars were higher than their regular specialty ones, but hey, I probably can't get that good stuff elsewhere. What I've liked about the Lindt stores was their promo "Buy 3, Get 1 Free" deal on certain varieties of bars, mix or matched. The imported bars counted toward the promo, which was nice. Customer service in this store was good. The employees were nice and friendly. As I waited in line to pay, an employee came out and gave everyone in the store samples of their classic milk chocolate truffle. Ahh yeah, I've always loved the samples at the Lindt stores. :) This store also had the Beverage Bar. This was where they melted truffles so they could turn it into hot chocolate. This wasn't operational at the time I was there, but I'm guessing because it was Summer and no one wanted to drink anything that was hot. Maybe I'll bring a friend who has a sweet tooth and come here sometime during the Winter so we could try their hot chocolate. I'm definitely a fan of this store - no doubt about that! :)

If there is something I would consider as a reason to knock points from Third Avenue Chocolate…read moreShoppe, it would be the somewhat intimate lighting inside. For an establishment that is a candy shop, it feels almost ashamed to advertise itself. Indeed, the display cases are well lit, and maybe that's the idea- but this lacks the identity of a Wonka-esque world of pure imagination. Indeed, I would knock things down from 5-stars to 4-stars were I an interior decorating snob, but I don't come for the decor, I come for the confectioneries. It's an easy place to get service. Just ask and you shall receive. The choices of chocolate are many- indeed too many for such a review- and if you don't care for chocolate? There are many choices to be had besides. Indeed, the idea of domestic candies can be intimidating. We are all so very used to brand names, but find a familiar recipe, have a moment's courage, and you may find a new favorite. If not? The store is home to more than a few classic brands of sweet, sour, and otherwise yummies. I insist you come in yourself and examine each item up close. Treat yourself as well as you do others.

The shop is adorable in beautiful Spring Lake in New Jersey. Many lovely treats and assortments…read more The staff was sweet and helpful. I had nonpareils milk chocolate. unfortunately, I am spoiled by Lee Sims chocolates in Jersey City, New Jersey. And I found the 3rd Ave milk chocolate did not compare to Lee Sims quality of richness, smoothness, and deliciousness.
