So many sweet treats! They have a whole section of their homemade chocolate and then regular candy on the other side of the store. Oh and popcorn - and ice cream! You want it, they got it. I got an assortment of goodies. My favorite was the chocolate covered marshmallow, super fresh and the chocolate was absolutely delicious. I also tried the chocolate covered wafers, nutter butters, s'mores and the rice crispies covered in fluff peanut butter and chocolate. I truly got a bit of everything. One thing I can say is the chocolate is fresh. The price reflects that but at least you know you're getting quality ingredients. Really disappointed. A shop like this needs to keep their product fresh. We did a purchase of three products that should be fresh. A fresh made heath bar- a coconut chocolate candy and a non- parallel. Total weight couple ounces 4-5. You buy by the weight. It was $10.90! So the weight of just an average candy bar. You expect amazing quality four this price. Terrible!! I didn't see that the milk chocolate had that old white sheen on top. Must have been sitting there for weeks. The coconut was ok the other stale. Really disappointing. Wont ever go back. Do better folks. read more

Cute place, but the pricing doesn't really reflect the taste of the chocolate in my opinion. So we started off down the street at the confections of a rockstar which I've had before and loved, but decided to try this place instead since it was more chocolate based. Everything looked good but there wasn't anything that really jumped out to us so I picked a few peanut butter cups and some other peanut brittle or something like that, our total came out to around $50. The peanut butter cups tasted like your average non Reese's peanut butter cup that doesn't really taste like anything special. If you're going to have gourmet pricing, the chocolate better be some innovative chocolate with a Michelin star experience. Definitely won't be back, but you know what, that's how businesses discover their equilibrium pricing. This is definitely not it. read more

My fiancée goes down to Asbury Park every weekend and always brings me back their crazy good peanut butter cups. Happy Tuesday Adventurers! I dropped by here after a late lunch and was craving something a bit sweet. Upon walking in I was greeted by the delicious smell of warm popcorn (my favorite) and chocolate. The chocolate that reminds you of being a kid down at the shore with a tinge of saltwater taffy. There were samples of treats being offered which is rare but lovely to see since COVID. I love the atmosphere and the staff were really nice. I ordered the chocolate gelato and unfortunately I wasn't a fan. It was more gooey ? Idk if I phrased this right. I also grabbed a bag of butter popcorn. It was wayyyyy too salty but I prefer home cooked with nothing on it. Again this place was really cute but just not my style. read more

Place isn't cheap but they do have some good treats. The homemade white chocolate peanut butter cup were my favorite. The ice cream also hits the spot. I did almost lose a tooth on the chocolate covered marshmellow. It had to be sitting there for a while. The M&M peanut butter cup was also lovely. 10/10 service, called in advance for some candy apples, arrived to an amazing candy store. Every wall was full of different brands and types of candy; tucked away in one corner was the kitchen where multiple types of sweets are made in house. Stopped in here for some dessert, it's a candy store with typical candy you'd see in any other candy store. They also got sweets that are homemade in the show glass. I got a chocolate covered smore and a M&Ms Reese's cup, both were pretty good but definitely pricy, $18 for both items. Nice employees and it's a cool shop to check out. read more

Hands down the best caramel / pecan turtles (they call them a different name)! The caramel is melty and the chocolate is delish!

Have gone in twice now and like some things but not others. First their chocolate is very good and priced accordingly. I suggest you try it. Second their ice cream. Not impressed. Was not creamy and flavorful like it should be. We have so many choices in this area, they will need to step up their quality. Salt water taffy - very hit or miss. Some pieces were very good and chewy and others were hard. Some of the pieces felt as if they were old. This looked like a nice little store but was quickly disappointed. I was surprised that nothing in the store was priced. The candies in the center were for sale by pound but didn't know if it was $10 a pound or $20 a pound. The other items around the store on the shelves were not priced either. Am I to spend time and wait in line to ask the clerk only to be embarrassed that the price was higher than I wanted to spend? Does the price change by time of day or the type of customer entering the store? I spoke with someone I believe was the manager about it and asked if she makes blind purchases but she seemed delusional and went around in circles saying what a great group of people are part of this franchise. She did say it promoted interaction with the customers. I don't want to wait in line to have a conversation during a pandemic nor feel obligated to make a purchase. I then contacted the franchise manager and was told that this is definitely not a practice or policy set through the franchise. Maybe other restaurants and retail stores and businesses like McDonalds should stop listing their prices also! Don't let business owners get away with this. This is not right. Boycott their business. Let them be fair to the customer and then the customer will endorse their business. A business should not hide their prices from the consumer. read more

However, they most certainly don't use natural ingredients for their chocolate, cream, or caramel. To their credit, they never claimed to do so. These were the very best Pralines that I have tried. I was given a mixed box of different Pralines from a friend as a gift (knowing I love Pralines). Each and everyone of them was so different and so tasty. Living in NC and knowing the Asbury Park, NJ area, my next trip to NJ will definitely require a trip River Street Sweets so I can pick the ones I like most and take them back to NC. I normally don't write reviews but I felt the need to write one this time. I've been to this store a handful not that often but I recently went to the store and I just didn't appreciate how cold and rude one of the sales associate was. She didn't say much but it was just her attitude and actions that I did not appreciate. I'm not going to describe her but I just felt the need to describe my experience. I'm not here to tell people to not go into this establishment and to not ever shop here. I just felt the need to explain what happened so that in the future if it happens again to just handle things differently. This place truly does have a great selection and a wide variety of all different kinds of sweets. I was in the candy section and was picking out my candy when the sales associate come running at me (I saw her in the corner of my eye) to ask me to put on gloves and to not eat the candy without paying. I do not know why I ate 1 piece of candy (a gummy cola) but I did (I will admit it was wrong of me to do that) and the way she just gave me so much attitude to put on some gloves was just not necessarily. I did not see any sign and if there was a sign I'm sorry but I missed it. I just did not appreciate how much attitude she gave me over a small thing. I understand I was in the wrong but I truly did not know about the glove situation and as soon as she told me I said that I was sorry and that I understand. When she returned back to the register, I had my back towards her still facing the candy and my friend was watching her and had mentioned that she rolled her eyes at me. I understand customers can be a pain but after she spoke with me, I just apologized and said that I completely understand, I'm not sure what more she wanted from me. My friend and I continued to walk around the store and every time I turned she was just starting at me and watching me. Mind you there are other people in the store and it was semi busy. While I was paying she also charged me .05 for the piece of candy I ate. Which I do not disagree with it at all but the fact that she just charged me without even mentioning it to me just seemed rude. I am an understanding person so maybe the sales associate was having a bad day but I just hope she can just be a little more friendlier to the customers who are new to the store.
