I made an online order for #97. Large Roast Pork with String Beans ($16.20) with White Rice. This dish was listed under the Pork section, so you would think it's a pork dish. When I picked it up, I was so disappointed that it only had a few slices of pork with mostly wilted green beans. Plus, I paid extra to make this large but the container wasn't all that big. After tax and all, this was almost $20 and it was quite underwhelming. While I appreciate that they are quick and convenient for locals in the neighborhood, some of their dishes can be a hit or miss. I suppose it gets the job done, but I know I could definitely get a much better quantity and quality in Chinatown. read more

I have never experienced the bad service other reviewers have explained and not seen the woman they mentioned, but I have nothing but good things to say about this spot. Aside from convenience, they have a large menu including vegetarian chicken (which in my opinion is hard to find). The staff has always been friendly even when I show up early or late for an order. The food itself leaves me feeling better than some other spots I have visited, and there are never any issues or confusion with my orders. When you go anywhere (and I mean anywhere) you can expect for there to be bad days, which is what I can assume other reviewers have unfortunately experienced. But for me this place always hits the spots when Im looking for a quick pick-up dinner. If you're new to the area or just haven't given them a try I would recommend doing so. read more

For cheap take out Chinese food, this place hits the spot. I was so upset when Red Apple closed because they were so close to my apt. Ling ling kitchen is right around the corner and might even be better than Red Apple. My go to is the general tso chicken combination which comes with an egg roll. Three stars for cheap, enjoyable Chinese food. Satisfied my cravings, and I'm happy to report I did not experience any problems. My delivery order arrived FAST, food still hot. Tip your drivers! The General Tso's Chicken was unpretentious and got the job done. The chicken morsels were a little soft (I like them crispy), but the flavor and texture were fine otherwise. Alternating with white rice and the occasional broccoli bite is the way to go. The beef lo mein was also pretty average; rubbery beef, too many bean sprouts. I mostly picked out the noodles, which were my favorite part. Even though the chunks of beef weren't super fresh, I liked them more than what I've had at some other Chinese restaurants. I ordered a vegetable roll, and I got what I'd personally call an egg roll, which was okay. A little duck sauce helps it go down. Finished off with a wonton soup: good broth! I ate two of the wontons but just couldn't finish off the third. Overall, Ling Ling's hit the spot, and I appreciate that. The food isn't extraordinary but it got the job done. Probably not going to become my favorite Chinese restaurant but it's a solid option for cheap neighborhood Chinese food. read more

I'm shocked to read the reviews on here, but since they're mostly from 2018 I thought I'd offer a recent review. I ordered a shrimp lo mein and chicken and broccoli for pickup, and it was ready within 10 minutes. When I got there I was happy to see robust protection for the staff and customers in these crazy quarantine times. There's a plastic tarp and a pickup box so there is no contact the entire time. If you pay with card, you use a little slot in the tarp, and if you pay with cash you use the box to the side. Receipts and change also go through the box. The food itself was tasty, flavorful, tender, and exactly what you're looking for when you want Chinese take-out. Seriously -- the brown sauce hit the spot! The lo mein noodles were perfectly cooked, and even though I got the small size the shrimp to noodle ratio was very generous. The chicken and broccoli was also perfectly seasoned and a good size for the small. I only paid $15 for the food and two drinks! Check this place out if you want to satisfy your craving for Chinese takeout. It's worth it. read more

We have ordered from Ling Ling Kitchen often. Not because it is white linen food, it's not. But it IS one of the best neighborhood Chinese food restaurants we've ever eaten from. Aside from the bad reviewers tastes, the dishes we have had have been flavorful, well seasoned, and the spicy dishes have the right amount of "kick" without making you sweat or cry. If you are into food with pain, their mustard is provided with the dishes, you can add it yourself. We have had the General Tso's chicken, the Kung Pao chicken, the hot and sour soup (it's supposed to be a little sour). The tastiness is consistently there, the vegetables are crispy (not over cooked and soggy), the chicken wings aren't greasy and the meat is moist and flavored by the well seasoned fried skin. They deliver, you can order online for pick up, or order at the restaurant for takeout. So convenient. Not good for eat-in. No biggie. It is our go-to for Chinese food night. read more

I can see why, as it was tasty, fresh, fast, and cheap. When I get Chinese takeout I have certain expectations towards the quality and service (as in, very low expectations) so I am happy to report that Ling Ling exceeded expectations. Now I'm writing my review off of my experience with what you should know about the restaurant from the past. First, the restaurant is not named after their daughter. The original name of the restaurant was "Ling Ling Young Young", which stood from the late 80's/early 90's - to the mid 2000's. The original owner Steve, operated the restaurant with his family. After Steve sold the business to another group of people, they changed the name to "Ling Ling Young". After they drove the Chinese restaurant into the grown. It is now operated by a small family (I would say), under it's current established name. The Good: The Food is quite good compared to the yearly old reviews this restaurant has received. They stay actively busy and keep aware of the NYC Sanitation laws. The Bad: The Yelling. An it's not even regarding the food. It's the Mother (whom I believe is the owner), yelling at her children. The Terrible: The Kids. Now to call kids terrible is a stupid thing to do. But to have kids running around a kitchen, screaming, fighting and hopping up and down on the cellar gate outside the restaurant is a Turn Off to customers. However, I'm not there for long as I just pick up my order and leave. What I would Recommend: I do understand that it's a family run business. But children should not be acting like this in your place of business. It's an eating establishment not a playground. The Grade: I gave the Kitchen 3 stars. Mainly due to the food and their priority to make sure, that their kitchen, stays at a letter Grade of A for NYC Sanitation. It was the situation with the kids that brought the grade down. read more

The food is fresh, served hot, high quality (no ends or gristly pieces of meat) and makes a large meal. I don't like giving a one start review but this was without a doubt the worst Chinese food I have ever had. The steamed pork dumplings had something inside them that I would not describe as pork. This restaurant uses MSG and the owner lies about it! I have severe reaction to MSG so I always ask if MSG is used in the food before I order from a Chinese restaurant.
