When I ordered the pork and shrimp pho, first of all my server asked me how spicy I wanted it. She alone deserves 5 stars! And then when the herbs were brought out, much to my delight there was Thai basil and lime. I quickly went through the 2 sprigs of basil and asked for a little more, and before I could say please it was on my table. It wasn't just a little either, about 4 more sprigs. I felt guilty I didn't use it all. I enjoyed my dinner because it wasn't overwhelmed with heat, service was fast. Even though it was Mother's Day we received our food in a timely manner. You must try the summer shrimp roll. They were very fresh and tasty. The servings are grand. The place is a lot bigger than it looks from the outside (Lots of regular table seating). Not sure why it took me so long to finally eat here! I had the Chicken Pho and Summer Rolls. Both were really good. The Pho was large; I could only finish about 2/3 of it! Our food arrived pretty shortly after ordering, which is always nice. The only thing I wasn't impressed with was our server, she seemed annoyed the whole time (maybe she was just having a bad day?). I have been visiting this place for 18 years now. Their pho bo tai is fantastic but I'm giving them 2 stars because of the relatively new owner who is very mean & tight. As soon as new owner came the food sizes went down. With the pho you now get 1/4 lime instead of a half (most times it's a lemon not lime because it's cheaper), little bean sprouts and hardly ever do you get Thai basil. Instead, they give you cilantro! Today I purchased a pho and there were only 3 small, ultra thin pieces of beef in there. im now looking for a new Vietnamese restaurant. Such a shame the owner doesn't understand you lose customers when you try to cut so many corners for sake of more profit. We love Linh's because my daughter prefers Chinese dishes and I like Thai and both menus are extensive. The serving sizes are great for the price, we usually take something home with us. The only thing I feel like they are missing is a liqueur licence, but if you get carryout there's a convenience store next door. read more

I forced my boyfriend to choose somewhere to eat and this is where he chose. Afterwards, I told him it was his best decision to date. We arrived and sat ourselves. We started with the spring rolls which were fresh and delicious. He ordered the beef pho and I got #50 the spicy chicken, beef, shrimp with thin noodles. It was impressive. First, my food was actually spicy without any addition of sriacha or red chili peppers. The taste was spot on! The pho broth was the best he's ever had. Linh's is a nice little Asian restaurant in a strip mall near Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. I've been here for lunch a couple of times and it's always crowded so plan to wait. I've only had the spicy chicken soup (#15 on the menu) and have been satisfied both times. The portions here are large, the staff is friendly, and they are pretty efficient at getting people in and out during lunch. This was a satisfying and affordable lunch. I got there about 2 pm with a friend, so it was after the lunch rush, but there was still a good amount of people there. Water was served to the table along with tea, and we ordered pho. It was my first time eating pho, but I can't wait to go back again. I got a dinner plate sized bowl that was about 3 1/2 inches deep full of egg noodles, green onion, chicken, and broth. It was a comfortable hit the entire meal, which lasted about an hour. The décor in the restaurant was nice, the staff was a bit disconnected though, but it didn't really matter because I would rather enjoy my food than be asked every 10 minutes if I needed something else. The Pho is spectacular. I get the Sate meatball Pho with egg noodles. Comes with garnish of basil, bean sprouts, jalapeño slices, and cilantro. My wife and daughter both get the Sate Beef or Chicken Pho. We never miss an opportunity for the soft shrimp rolls either. They're a great appetizer. If you go at lunch, it will be busy but they seem to keep things moving along nicely. This place never disappoints. read more

Service is friendly and efficient, the food comes out fast and is always consistent, and they keep the atmosphere quite clean. I can't help but still want an environment that is very homey and inviting... To create a feeling of true home-cooked Vietnamese food... But Linh's is good for what it is. Reliable and quick Vietnamese food that's fairly priced. We always order Weekend Special #3! It's just a vermicelli salad with ALL the fixings. I recommend it. Linh's has since moved to a new, bigger location down the street to accommodate the demand (sh!t got crazy in there!), and I had a stinking suspicion that this would be the case, but in my experience, there's been a noticeable decline in quality. Recently, my girlfriend and I had dinner with my parents here to check out the new digs. My mom has always naturally gravitated towards fish on the menu, so we made sure to order some sort of catfish claypot dish (forget the exact name, but pretty sure it's exactly that, maybe with an additional noun or ethnic-sounding adjective). What came out was a claypot full of bubbling brown sauce with some measly chunks of fish. Sadly, my mom barely touched it. To make matters worse, I absolutely love supporting small, family-owned, private business and such, and my previous experiences haven't all been bad with the service at Linh's, but whatever her relation to Linh, our server needs to have a retraining on food service pleasantries. I'm not into the whole fake-smile, i-am-gonna-pretend-to-care-about-your-life service either--just be efficient and mildly pleasant, maybe crack a sarcastic joke or two just to remind me you're a real human being. In the mood for Vietnamese fare, I went to Linh's for dinner. The restaurant had a decent crowd at 6:30 for a Tuesday night, which was an encouraging sign. Located in the seeming obligatory nondescript strip mall, Linh's was quite spacious and a bit more upscale looking than many of its peers. It offered an extensive, diverse, dinner menu, however it was surprisingly short on soups like pho. I ordered the goi cuon and pho with eye of round and meatballs (one of the three pho variations on the menu). My two rolls were of decent size for the price, but were a bit dry, bland and not overly generous with shrimp. However, the peanut sauce was different but better from many I've had and was a nice (and necessary) accompaniment to my rolls. My bowl of pho was quite generous in size for the $8.95 price. I found the broth to be a bit sweet and somewhat lacking in meatiness. The expected pho spice notes were barely detectable. Given the size of the bowl and the amount of broth it held, the portion of noodles and meat were comparatively meager. However, the biggest surprise (and letdown) was that instead of the expected accompaniments usually served with pho (i.e. Thai basil, lime wedges, jalapeno pepper slices, and bean sprouts), I received lemon wedges and cilantro; the latter along with the bean sprouts didn't look like they were close to its peak freshness. The pho, while reasonably satisfying, was unremarkable and far from the best I've ever had. Looking back, perhaps I ordered the wrong things. At least, service was friendly and attentive. While I may not try Linh's pho again, their large menu with other thing is intriguing enough to me for another visit. Call it 2.5 stars, rounded up. read more

Story on Linhs....3 instructors witnessed 2 bus boys putting rice from dirty left over plates back into the rice cooker and serving it again....same visit they witnessed a person cleaning a table with a rag and then going into the back and drying plates with the same rag and serving rice out of the rice cooker they put the leftover rice in and serving it on the plate. 3 people witnessed this. Our family often will sit and reminisce of the olden days, when we used to patronize a beloved place across for a plaza with a huge thrift store. This place was called appropriately: The Viet. Years passed and we searched high and low to try to find a replacement to fill our tummies with Bun Ga Nuong Cha Gio and Bun every-other-kind-of-topping too. Finally, next to one very fragrant international grocery store arose Linh's. They have a Viet and Chinese menu. I always get the same thing and love it every time (see above). We even dragged my dad here who plays it safe with a Chinese-American favorite like Sweet & Sour usually, but he ordered the clay pot rice... Whaattt? Dad? And he loved it. And so did I. Mom got the beginners pho, just beef lenderloin. She was a little under the weather so it was a great choice. The specials were between 8 and 11 bucks for dinner. No one finished their massive food mountain. Service was really attentive and the place was humming along. This is a favorite when I go home to visit. One of our favorite lunch stops. The food is always top notch, but sadly the service is very hit and miss. I'm not really sure what goes on in the kitchen, but we've been left waiting a long time for our dishes and in a group, it seems one person is left out while others already have a meal. We've also had to flag down someone for service after a long wait several times. Back on the food though... The vermicelli salads are amazing and the noodle soup bowls are great. I went to Linh's at their old location & this new place is a nice upgrade. It is much bigger, but they're still always busy during lunch, especially. It's a little cold by the front, though, so if you get cold easily, sit towards the back! I am a partial reviewer here because I have only tried their pho, but it is tasty. I usually order the special pho that comes with beef & chicken (but I just get chicken). They do have a good selection of different types & flavors of pho, though, along with many other Vietnamese & Chinese dishes. They bring you out a steaming hot bowl of the soup with noodles & meat & a side plate with your greens, bean sprouts, jalapenos, & lime. One nice thing about the pho, is that for about $7 you can definitely get a second meal out of it. The soup is very filling & I always walk away with a large container full of the pho. I gave this place 3* because, like some other reviewers commented on, some of the staff members are not very friendly; one member in particular just acts like she does not enjoy working there & that customers just annoy her. YUMMMMY! I got the Bo Bun and my husband ordered "Amazing Chicken." Both were so delicious! The Amazing Chicken were thin slices of chicken in sweet sauce, served with a perfectly crisp and steaming egg roll on the side. They also served some crispy deep fried crackers to go with the soup. YUM!! My Bo Bun had thick slices of juicy chicken in a spicy noodle broth and rice noodles. Great place to go for a simple dinner :D! read more

First time visiting Dayton from Philly, and have to say this place was at best mediocre. Staff was SUPER friendly and very attentive, but the food itself was not great. The Mongolian beef was basically pepper steak...and the Cheng Tu Beef was not good. Egg drop soup was way too thick and not great. There was one wonton in the soup and it was just dough....the "crab Rangoon" was just filled with cream-cheese. Additionally the vegi soft rolls were terrible. We did thoroughly enjoyed the spring rolls and the beef from Mongolian beef but that's all we can recommend. read more

Went for a quick lunch with two co-workers. Food was on point as usual. Flavors and portions were spot on, but the service was terrible. At their old establishment, their service was quick and friendly. I feel as if although the new establishment is aesthetically nicer, the quality of the experience has suffered. The servers pay zero attention to you and it is if you are interrupting them when you ask for something. Recommendation: order take out because the food is awesome, just the wait staff is oblivious to customer service. read more

Placed an order for take out tonight and the guy who answered the phone was EXTREMELY RUDE! This is the second time I've ordered giving them the benefit of the doubt from my first experience, and this time was worst than the first. I will never order out or dine here ever again. I can't stand rude people. I could've easily not picked up my order since he didn't even ask for a name or phone number. He just kept saying "ya ya ya" as I was placing my order. Summer's a weird time for us in quite a few ways. We start off with the whirlwind that is the Origins Game Fair, which is followed almost immediately by both Fathers' Day and my birthday. My birthday actually fell on Father's Day this year, which Jules and I spent at her parents'. Ironically, we spent at least part of that time trying to schedule our next get-together, for Jules' sister's birthday. With all that in mind, Jules and I scrambled out this evening to find Katie a birthday present, and decided to grab dinner somewhere new to us: Linh's Vietnamese Bistro. While I'm fairly well acquainted with food throughout Asia--Indian, Malaysian, Thai, Japanese, Chinese, Korean--I'd never actually had Vietnamese food before. Jules is a big fan of the iconic Vietnamese dish, 'pho', having become an addict during our trips to Columbus' North Market. But me? No real experience here. Well, that was about to change! Linh's is fairly stark with high ceilings, but has some bright decorations and feels like a welcoming place as you enter. We were seated almost instantly, though service throughout the meal felt somewhat hit or miss. My Coke ran out about halfway through the meal with no refill even offered, but the waitress did inquire as to the quality of my meal in between bites. Both Jules and I elected to order from the Vietnamese half of the menu, as opposed to the Chinese half, which featured mostly classic Chinese-American classics like General Tso's and Sesame Chicken. Jules' dish of rice noodles came out looking gorgeous, covered in sauteed shrimp, crispy roasted pork, and what seemed to be another type of pork wrapped in fried wonton skins. Served with a carrot-rice vinegar, it was a gorgeous bowl of deliciousness that tasted even better than it looked. I opted for the crispy duck, which came out slightly later--the waitress warned me of this, so I didn't mind--on a massive platter. The duck was delectable on its own--well seasoned and fried to a crunch--but I did have a few issues. The duck was served with a garnish of salt and citrus, though the duck was fairly salty on its own and really didn't need this sort of seasoning. A sauce of some sort would have been welcome, perhaps a black pepper sauce or the like? Further, the duck came with plain, steamed sticky rice, with no soy sauce or seasoning anywhere to be had. Blah. Rice noodles or the like would have been more welcome. Overall? I really liked our experience. While I don't know that I'll have the crispy duck again, I do know that I'll be eager to try out some new options at Linh's. Give them a run! read more

Alright my first review on yelp! I've been a closet yelper for a long long time now, but I think it's about time for me to post up some reviews. I've taken advantage of Yelp for too long :) Linh's has always been my go-to Vietnamese Restaurant here in Dayton. I went to Wright State and Linh's was one of the few places near campus to get a really nice HOT lunch for cheap. I always get the #3 Pho Bo Vien and a hot and sour soup and both are usually very delicious and is absolutely the best bowl of Pho you can get anywhere around here. However here also comes my biggest complaint. Linh's suffers from very poor consistency. Sometimes the bowl of Pho comes out steaming hot with all the proper noodles with just the perfect seasoning. Other times though the pho will come out just luke-warm with a bunch of noodles thrown into the bowl like they ran out of the correct ones and the broth will just taste really bland. It has been like this over the course of my many many visits and I haven't figured out why. Is it the time of day that you visit that causes this inconsistency? Or is it a particular day of the week? Anyway besides my gripe about consistency, you still can't beat Linh's in the Dayton area in terms of their food. Definitely a must visit if you're around the area and craving a good bowl of Pho. read more

Went in for lunch today and I was pleasantly surprised. The Pho was perfect and priced just under $7.00. The greens and sprouts were fresh and flavorful. The butterflied chicken appetizer was good. The chicken itself was average but the dipping sauce was sweet with a hint of fish sauce. Yum! The place was small and packed around noon. Servers were constantly busy and I had to flag my waitress down more than once. Despite the rush my server always smiled at me and did her best. My advice, try to visit Linh's during off peak hours. read more
