Absolutely the best food in Springfield. Limited menu, which to me means that they are specializing in great delivery on those options. Tempura green beans: light tempura served with a black sesame aioli - a great start Indian Butter Chicken: this thing was a blend of at least three counties and it was amazing. Udon noodles, lightly breaded and pounded chicken covered with melted cheese, and the Indian Butter sauce. Rum drink was also great. My coworker who got the salad finished the whole bowl and stated that there must have been 4 avocados in the salad - he was happy. I was tempted to eat here for lunch the next day, but decided to try another spot in downtown. Now I wish I would have had lunch here also. Server was helpful and not overbearing. A pure Diamond in the Rough. Came here on a whim while driving to Indy. Expectations were not so high but they were exceeded and then some. I was heading to Yellow Springs for an event hosted by Dave Chappel and wanted to find a spot fit for foodie. Hi Hat nailed it!! It is a cozy and hip spot in downtown Springfield, surrounded by large bright spaces and really cool murals. My friend and I were warmly greeted as we entered the restaurant. I've ate at all the non chain restaurants in the city and this is the best one. Nowhere else will you find this fusion of foods like the twist on udon but they made it Italian, which was AMAZING by the way. Joel makes the best drinks ever and it's not like Applebees or any chain you order a drink and you get your moneys worth, it tastes so good and has the perfect amount of alcohol. I will definitely try Hi Hat Social again now that I understand the menu and vibe. It's a forward Asian fusion restaurant that mixes different flavors. Some highlights included Japanese-style noodles with Indian butter chicken curry. My partner enjoyed it, but the melted cheese on top of the chicken threw him off. I had the Hi Hat smash burger with Japanese mayo, and the kimchi sauce with American cheese which was out of this world--definitely a flavor bomb I didn't expect. Then there were the Kimchi wings; I was excited after reading the menu that the wings had been marinated in kimchi with a cilantro-lime sauce. These didn't quite slap the way I'd hoped. While the wings were cooked perfectly, the kimchi flavor was just wasn't there. The service was great, and my X Espresso martini was solid. You can tell a lot of work went into the menu, but I'm definitely better prepared for the fusion aspect. read more

I was sad to see Seasons, the previous restaurant at this location, close, but Hi*Hat is an AWESOME "replacement." Great cocktails--- The first time I went, it was winter and I was really craving an after dinner coffee drink, and although nothing was "officially" on the menu, I asked the bartender to just "go rogue" with a coffee based drink. What he prepared was SO GOOD, I'd be happy to have it every night of the year, all year long!! My most recent visit, in the HEAT of the summer, included a VERY refreshing Vietnamese salad with added on breaded chicken. So flavorful and definitely a meal in itself!! My dining companion had the butter chicken w/udon noodles, which looked so wonderful that I just simply MUST get back and order it before they switch up their seasonal menu again... Our only slight "glitch" during a busy Saturday dinner was that out scallion pancake appetizer never arrived. Once they realized it was overlooked, they brought it out "to go," and took it off the bill. WTG, Hi-Hat, thanks for making it right. That scallion pancake is DELICIOUS, btw, but MUCH better enjoyed "in house" vs to go... Fabulous! The decor, music, and ambiance were very groovy. The food and cocktails were most excellent! We arrived during 'social time' and were surprised with a very reasonably priced list of cocktails, appetizers, and meals for this special time of the day. We started with several well made and delicious cocktails, the beer batter fried green beans and the okonomiyaki. The appetizers were so delicious and flavorful. For our meals we got the fried catfish taco and the fried catfish bahn mi as well as two more cocktails. The portions were huge and the punch of flavor in the foods was exhilirating. Our daughters got the buttered udon with focaccia and the chicken wings and fries. I got a few nibbles of each of their enormous piles of food and they were just as awesome as the adult dishes. We will definitely be back to dive more into the dishes we didn't try and enjoy the atmosphere even more. What an amazing find!! read more

We went for lunch on a Friday. The bartender, Cheyenne, was also the hostess. We chose seats at the bar. So she was also our server. The decor is incredible, it's quite jazzy, including the actual drum set of John Dessinger donated by his daughter who was there having lunch. John played in the Kiwanis Club band as well as The Buddy Young Orchestra and The Bob Circle Trio. The drums sit atop the entry doors. Cheyenne made a gimlet cocktail that was tasty with a dried orange slice garnish. We had the appetizer of tempura green beans with a dipping sauce of black sesame aioli. The entrees were the Vietnamese chicken salad and Hamachi Kama, a yellowtail tuna. Both were quite generous portions and delicious. Cheyenne was friendly, smiled, refilled drinks and made pleasant conversation. There is also a casual lobby area if you want to sit and relax with just a coffee or cocktail. Highly recommend. My husband and I had lunch today at the Hi Hat Social. We sat at the bar and Robert, the bartender, was amazing! The drinks we ordered were very good! I think one was a Sea Serpent and I can't remember what mine was called. Everything on the menu sounded good, so I had a hard time deciding. Robert suggested a salad that he had tried that sounded very interesting. It was potato salad salad! It was amazing! I will definitely get it again. My husband said the Hi Smash burger and fries that he had were amazing! He commented on how soft the bun was and said it was one of the best burgers he's had! My husband and I stopped in here for a late lunch. Due to the timing we were the only customers in at the time, but the atmosphere lends itself to a lively social scene. Our server was exceptionally attentive, professional and very knowledgeable of the menu. He provided excellent recommendations. The food was phenomenal! What a wonderful bar and restaurant! Greeted immediately by a wonderful hostess and bartender on a recent Wednesday afternoon. Loved the atmosphere from beginning to end. As newbies to the place, the bartender graciously walked us through the menu. We both choose the Avocado salad. We both have never had a more delicious, great looking and nicely proportioned size salad. All fresh, loaded top to bottom. Expertly cut and positioned avocado's and other items. Was at a show in Dayton and passing through on way home to Columbus. This place is a new Springfield GEM - we are going to make the trek back as it was so good and want to try the other delicious items noticed coming out of the kitchen. Well earned 5 star rating.
