My wife and I walked into Linh's just before 3pm today. Young lady seated us immediately, then..........we sat there and the help walked around cleaning or at front register visiting. Needless to say, we walked out. This will be my last visit to this establishment, as the prior two visits were mediocre at best. I am a pho enthusiast. So when I found this place I was very excited. But it turned out to be a big disappointment. I have been there several times dining in. Service is always slow and not friendly at all. The pho lacks flavor. But I continued to give them a try. I have had several issues with my bill each time. Its always wrong. Charged for items not even served. At first I thought it was mistake, but after the 5th time, not so much. The bill is hand written ambiguously. So be aware. I ordered to go, and still had issue but this time hair was in my food. Lets just say I am done. Luckily, I found a great place across the street from Wright State service is much better. read more

I have only had take out here so I can't remark on the service. The food is fan-freaking-tastic. I usually order from the chinese side because I am afraid to eat pho but my friends say that it is fantastic. I am afraid because I like the malla beef and green beans so much. I signed up an account only to write this review. I would have rated them zero star if such an option existed. My family visited the air force museum over the weekend. We had lunch at this restaurant because we thought it was better than those fast food nearby and because of the high ratings in yelp and Google. It turned out to be a nightmare because it was the WORST service I have ever had in my entire life. We were served by a lady who did not smile to us at all. I pointed to a picture on the menu and asked her which one it was. She told me the number and I had to refer to the entree description because the name was in Vietnamese and obviously it did not make sense to me. After exactly two seconds she repeated the number with an extremely angry and large tone as if she was yelling at a deaf person. I did not get it at all why she assumes that, in an English speaking country, people can get some non-English words in a second without reading the description underneath, and why she was such impatient and angry as we had not talked yet. Later on I asked about another picture and this time she had no response at all. She quickly flipped over the menu to the last page without saying anything. I thought that entree was there so I gently asked her, again, which one it was. She flipped the menu back to the page where I saw the picture initially, again without saying anything. I held my temper and asked her what did this mean. She finally said the dish was on the last page but they did not have it that day. Why not just speak it out at the very beginning?!?! The food was served in a fast fashion but she smacked everything down onto the table and quickly left without a word. I noticed there was a lot of dirt in her fingernails which made me nauseous a little. And off course she did not check back during our entire lunch. We ate the food only because it was late that afternoon and all of us were hungry. When we were eating she served another table and behaved politely just like any normal waitresses. The only reason I can think of is that we are Asian while the other table is White. She made us feel offended especially when we reacted nicely before and after we were seated. I complained to the front desk and said specifically that we were NOT going to pay even a cent for the tip. I have been living in Ohio for more than 5 years and I have been eating in several Vietnamese restaurants in major cities here including Columbus, Cincinnati, and Cleveland. Ever the Pho enthusiast, my husband found himself suffering from some serious Pho carvings, thus we decided to try Linh's for lunch. Since I don't share in my husband's enthusiasm, I went with the Chinese lunch special, specifically the House Beef (stir-fry beef and veggies in a special sauce over rice). It was wonderful! The beef was perfectly-done, the veggies were neither too crispy nor too limp, and the house special sauce was delicious! My meal also came with some really tasty Egg-drop soup (there are a choice of 3 soups to pick from), an egg roll, and a crab rangoon. And all of this for under $7. I'm telling you, I've been to pho places in the Dayton, Cincinnati, and Columbus area. You will never find a place as generous in portion size and flavor as this one. I've only had better pho in Hawaii. Yes, service is horrible sometimes, depending on what waitress you get, they can be super rude with a super attitude to boot. Tried to get carry out today. Called in order, was told it would take 20 min. WAITED 20 min before I left me house. 10 min drive only to find out order was not ready. Hostess asked me to wait another 10 min. Waited 10 min...order still not ready. Asked me to wait another 10 min. Still no order while others are leaving with carry out. Inquired mine was not ready yet the other customer was able to get his order. Hostess said he ordered his first. I said I called mine in over an hour ago. So the people here are great. The first time i came here i got the Bun and loved it. This time i went with the pho and it took me a while to figure out how i felt about it...and it isnt for me. The broth had a strong yellow colour. I have never seen that color with pho. The side plate was missing thai basil and had a ton of cilantro. There is something in the soup...i cant put my finger on it. It is a spice that was found in the upscale ramen i would have as a kid with my vietnamese friend John. It might be five spices. They use msg, ginger, star anise. So im really not sure, but something was just off....this is a vietchinese place so you can find all sorts of stuff including duck soup. The soft rolls were pretty bad...i think it was the inclusion of cilantro to it and the lettuce used. The ice coffee was the best part of the meal. First off all the waiters/waitresses were super rude. We had eye rolls and pouty faces thrown at us when our group walked in. (Even though I called ahead and warned them.) Whoever manages that store needs a new staff to wait on customers. Keep the ugly personalities in the back please. Secondly, I had the Pho and I wasn't super impressed. This place has a huge menu, but I can't bring myself to order anything but the Mala Green Beans with Tofu. They're the perfect combination of sweet and spicy. I'm at this place several times a month because it's cheap, delicious, and doesn't make you feel like you've been punched in the gut like Taqueria Mixteca. Truly a treasure. read more

I've eaten at Linh's several times, for eat in and take out. Their chinese is often pretty good, as far as take out chinese goes- and their Vietnamese dishes are often pretty solid. However I do see quite a big difference in their lunches and dinners. Along with the usual portion difference, the quality seems to be much better at night as well. I'm wondering if they have a different chef from day to night. Their Pho is okay, but I've had a lot of Pho in my day and even though this doesn't make the top 5- it's def. in the top for Dayton. read more

I can't deny the chicken pho, it's good! However last night was I showed up to get a bowl of pho 20 minutes before closing and I'm told the kitchen is closed! What the hell is that! I know it closing at 9 but if I drive all the way over there and your not closed I'm expecting my damn food not for your kitchen staff to close early cause they want to get off work early! I had never had Pho before so I decided to try Linh's out as my first time and I was not disappointed. Probably the best soup I've ever had and the noodles were amazing. I got the Pho Ga (chicken soup) and it was spectacular. Great vegetarian options as well for any vegetarians out there. I'll definitely be returning at some point in the future!! read more

Linh's is amazing! It may look small o the inside, but it's worth it!!! The Vietnamese soups are especially flavorful, spicy and healthy. I also love the Mongolian beef or chicken. Lastly, they have the best Wonton soup I've ever had. I've become close with the servers who always take care of me even when they are busy. I wish I lived closer because I'd come to eat more often. Linh's has moved up the street since I last reviewed. The dining room is much larger and nicer, however it still fills up really quickly (and for good reason). The food is still just as good. The service was a little off from previous experiences; our waitress seemed uninterested in being at work that day, but she still got the job done. Not bad enough to warrant losing a star, but perhaps should serve as a warning. Could just be that Linh's has had to hire more people to serve the larger dining room and not found quite the right mix yet. read more

Subpar Vietnamese food and terrible service. Egg roll my son had was fried in old oil (he actually spit it out). It tasted as if it had been refried. Chicken wings were way over fried (in old oil) to the point where they were burned through. Pho was okay, nothing spectacular. Last night I ventured out to Linh's, but was apprehensive due to it having only 3.5 stars (my fiancée is a Yelp snob and we usually look for 4 stars and above). We were in a noodle-mood, and live too far away from Cilantro in Cincinnati! Upon arriving at Linh's we were pleased to see a happy crowd of guests with giant bowls of steaming noodley goodness. I ordered the sate shrimp and pork and we shared the soft shrimp rolls. Upon my request for Sriracha, I was offered not 1, but 3 different chili sauces to use along with some hoisin sauce. The rolls were perfect, and once I added the obligatory chili garlic sauce and cilantro to my ginormous noodle bowl, I was a happy camper. The food was exactly what I was hoping for, and it came out quickly! We did notice that service lacked a bit after the meals had been served, but overall I am very satisfied with my experience! Long overdue Yelp review. Have been going here since it first opened and decor becoming more 'update' :) Convenient location to eat and pick up some Asian spices in the market next door. Warm and tasty food for when you crave some flavorful Vietnamese or some general Chinese food in the area. Knock of stars is for service - it's well, meh. When you have to get up to get your own chopsticks, chili sauce and other condiments each and every time - don't expect a tip for your service. I had been craving for pho so I made a stop for lunch. The noodles must have been crumbs at the wee end of an instant rice noodle package. The texture was hard (instant noodles require a perfect amount of soaking so that it isn't hard in the center or the consistency of a paste) and the strands were crumbly. If you're expecting resilient fresh rice noodles that you can just slurp down your throat, you will be disappointed. There wasn't much meat flavor to the beef slices and even the bean sprouts didn't look fresh. Personally, I'd be happier with instant pho. At least I know how to make the noodles right. read more

I go to lihns now and then. The food is good. I usually get a pho.. And haven't tried anything else yet. The portion isn't very big and the most disappointing thing is the service. I was never happy with their service. I probably go at least once a month for past five years and I have never had a satisfying service from a waitresses or waiters there. They always tend to rush and be mean. I really don't feel welcomed there. I go for food but It's so shame that they don't have a service that matches their food. Linh's. My favorite place, tiny, always packed at lunch time. Get there early or go later in the afternoon, they have lunch until 4. I've been coming here for about 7 years and will always go there. The food is fantastic and always hot and fresh. The service is good, though sometimes I wait about 5 minutes+ for a water refill during rush times. This is only because the staff are busting their butts. I almost always get vietnamese entrees.. If you only eat chinese, try some new things. The meal sized soup will burn your lips off, and you'll like it. The bunh salads are cheaper and very filling, delicious too. Fresh herbs. Fresh herbs everywhere. After reading a twitter message of my cousin's from back in NJ proclaiming that she was going out for Vietnamese food for dinner, I immediately started craving pho. And so, I ended up here. I thought it was a little weird that it was both a Chinese and Vietnamese restaurant, as the Vietnamese restaurants I'm used to back in the northeast are usually standalones... but I was hungry, so I didn't care. As for the pho, it was decent, but I was pretty disappointed that the tendon, tripe, and all that other stuff that is usually included in pho weren't options here (or at least, they weren't on the menu); the only meat pieces in it were the regular beef slices and beef meatballs. I'm assuming perhaps that they don't have those options on the menu because there isn't really a large Asian population in the area, so most of their clientele probably would not eat those things anyway. I guess I understand, but it was still disappointing nonetheless. As another reviewer here stated, the service was OK. Not bad, but they weren't really friendly either. We did have to go out of our way to get up and get hoisin sauce and sriracha, as the bottles weren't automatically given to us with our pho and we were having a hard time trying to flag them down to ask to bring the sauces to us since they weren't really paying much attention. I really liked the way their fortune cookies tasted, though... and I usually don't like fortune cookies. read more

Now called Linh's Bistro at a new location! This restaurant has relocated to 5532 Airway Rd. about three quarters of a mile from the old location. This was our very first visit so since I was never at the original location I can't compare the two. This place is big, bright, and clean, with cheerful decoration. Friendly, bustling waitstaff was very prompt and attentive. Maybe just a tad too prompt, in that I felt just a bit rushed; That's the only reason for four stars instead of five. Since they just opened here on January 1, maybe they need a little time to settle into the new location. The food is outta this world. We each had a Vietnamese lunch special which is a generous portion plus delicious soup and a big bowl of wide crispy noodles. Also shared the shredded pork soft roll cold appetizer which was very tasty, with cilantro, almost like a salad you can hold in your hand! Will definitely return when in the area.
