We purchased our car from our son in 1/24 as he was purchasing a new car. We had it serviced at the authorized Hyundai dealer (Paramus) to about $3000.00. Still when I drove it and braked it still seemed to vibrate and the steering wheel vibrated like crazy !!! We finally took it to Mavis to have the brakes checked, new brakes....still the same same problem. Took it back 3 days later, they changed the rotors gave us a great discount.... and it's awesome! NO VIBRATION I FEEL SAFE!! Staff is wonderful courteous and friendly ! They are now mechanic of choice. We are quite senior citizens and their prices were affordable. Highly recommend them!! read more

These guys are good at installing mufflers, lets face it you go to a place in the hood for a fair price and good expertise. At this place you recieve neither. I went to resolve some noise issues under my truck, I was left stranded on the road twice due to bad repairs from this place. If you love your vehcile and your life do not go to this. There are many discount shops in the Bx that can do what they do for much cheaper. read more

Was told by dealership mechanic that my muffler was hanging by a thread and that it needed immediate attention to the tune of $300-$400. Okay, it happens but I didn't have the time that day so I drove off. Fast forward a week or so and I brought it to Links to have the work done. I choose them because they were much closer to me than the dealer, Yelpers seem to like them and they could take me right away. They put the car on the lift and quoted me for the repair which was pretty shocking. $0. The car needed nothing. Muffler and the exhaust were just fine. And while I can't rate their work because they literally did nothing, 5 enthusiastic stars for service and integrity. They earned my lifetime business that day as they should yours. Much thanks! read more

Old school shop & mechanics - no frills, no lab coats. Just good service. Can't say enough good things. Called Links this morning and they had an opening, so I brought my car over and waited while they took a look. Luis runs the place and Ronnie worked on my car. Both were knowledgeable and very professional. Once my truck was up on the lift, Ronnie showed me what was wrong and Luis gave me a great price. No add ons, no nonsense. Just what I needed to have repaired to get back on the road. If you want the dealership experience, go somewhere else. If you want your car fixed, go to these guys. I wouldn't hesitate to go back and I never leave reviews, but I felt it was warranted this time. Thanks guys. Really appreciate it. Jim F. read more

Had the flex pipe replaced on my Lexus es350. Very professional and courteous service. Excellent teamwork at a reasonable price. The shop is extremely clean and very well organized. Definitely will be using them in the future. I will, without a doubt, recommend this shop to my friends and family. Happy customer here. read more

Awesome little shop with a friendly staff who try to repair your problem instead of overselling you or trying to rip you off. Stopped in to have my exhaust looked at. Simple inspection revealed a portion of my exhaust was rusted on the flange and needed a new piece of pipe welded in. 1.5 hours later and $80 for the repair with a 1 year warranty on the new pipe section and welding. Fair assessment, quick repair and reasonable price. Would recommend this place for exhaust or brake repairs. 2nd experience was horrible. Left the car with them for a suspension job. Instead of the fair service of my first visit, I got way (WAY) overcharged on labor for service. Pricing for labor exceeded what the dealer would have charged. Job took 4 days and car was returned with a rattle that the shop couldn't figure out but they mentioned to bring it back if it presented an issue. Oh well, get a 2nd opinion. Visit these guys for exhaust, avoid them for all else or get a 2nd opinion. read more

My experience with Links has been unfailingly excellent. Links' mechanics appear to me to be experienced and conscientious. The owner seems to be a great boss, honest and engaged. The business seems pretty well equipped to handle its areas of specialization. Mine was a somewhat complicated job on an import and they stuck with it until it was done right, without making excuses or coming up with surprises like other places try. The waiting area is as good as anyone should expect, and actually better than most shops I have seen. The price was fair, and work comes with a warranty. Unlike too many other places that are dishonest or incompetent, I think Links is likely to leave most customers pretty satisfied. read more

Bad service, unfriendly staff. Took my car in for an oil change. No one in the place I waited 70 minutes for a simple oil change. Owner behind the counter was unfriendly and staff as well. Didn't even ask me what kind of oil I wanted when I saw the bill he said well you needed that oil when I clearly didn't. Go to a quick lube where you will be in and out unless you got all day for these guys to change your oil and over charge you! read more

Horrible experience. Horrible customer service. Not professional at all. I called before coming in to this unprofessional shop, the owner told me come on in, as soon as I walked in I was greeted in the worst possible way. On top of that, I waited for an hour and 30 minutes to be told that they can't work on the car. They could've told me way earlier to save me time but they were even so nasty about it. This guy also overprices like crazy. overall, I do not recommend this place to anyone. save your time and go somewhere else. read more

Links Muffler And Brakes Discount - Auto Repair Near Me - Haledon, New Jersey

My son had his catalytic convertor stolen overnight. Called a couple of muffler shops and not only did Renee have the best price, he knew EXACTLY what was needed and said he could do it the same day. My son needed that as, he was to take a trip the next day. Renee was knowledgeable, personable a very accommodating. He made a disturbingly stressful situation a little more manageable. The car seems to be fine and hopefully will stay that way. Renee gave a 1 year guarantee. read more

I had a hole in my exhaust system and decided to give Links my business and they did not disappoint. Rene, the owner, spoke with me directly and called me to discuss price and it was very reasonable. Back in November, I needed my brakes changes but didn't know who/where to go to. After doing some searching on Yelp I decided to give 'Links' a try given the positive reviews. Reviews held true to popular belief. The staff was more than friendly my whole time there. They were also honest and fair when it came to evaluating the cost of the repair. Fast forward 3 months later I still remain very satisfied with the brake job. I would recommend 'Links' to anyone on the fence when deciding on a reliable mechanic. read more

Charles Dickens could have been describing this place in the opening words of A TALE OF TWO CITIES. Walking into the "office" at Link's Mufflers is a TAXIesque experience. We thought that we were going to find Danny DeVito behind the counter. You won't find any amenities here. No complimentary coffee or Wi-Fi. No free loaner cars. Even the seating in the cramped waiting area is no-frills. It's actually reclaimed car seats. No joke. Fancy schmancy. But what you WILL find here is an honest repair shop that does good work at reasonable prices. We've been accused of throwing around 5-star Yelp reviews as if they were manhole covers, and it's true. This is the very first 5-star review we've ever posted on Yelp. After reading the above description, you are probably wondering if we are suffering from distemper or rabies. Read on... We know our way around a car, and we do almost all of our own repairs, from brake jobs to electrical repairs, to once rebuilding the engine on our old Pontiac. We bought the parts necessary to replace our current vehicle's exhaust system, but once we got into the job, realized we needed more work done than we could do ourselves. We had never used Link's before, but we stopped in for an estimate. Unlike most shops, they actually invited us into the work area while the car was up on the lift, and went over the work that was necessary. This alone gave us confidence in the shop. We feel that a good restaurant will never have a problem with letting you see their kitchen, and Link's had invited us into their "kitchen". They agreed to use the parts we had already purchased, and gave us a reasonable price for the job. They completed the job in a half-day, which is more than we can say for any dealership service department or body shop we've ever used. When we picked up the car, they once again invited us to see the work they had done, while the car was still up in the air. Not all customers will care to see how the sausage is made, and many wouldn't know the difference between a tail pipe and a tailbone, but we do, and we appreciated their willingness to show us. We wish we could give them more than 5 stars. Great mechanics, fair prices, zero attitude, quick work, and respect for their customers. We would be doggone crazy to ever go anywhere else for auto repairs. P.S. - Despite another reviewer's comments, we don't consider Haledon, New Jersey to be a dangerous area. True, Beverly Hills it's not. It's a working-class town, not unlike many other towns in North Jersey. Link's is next door to a shopping center and Post Office, and just down the street from William Paterson University. And by the way, they appear to do all types of automotive repairs, not just mufflers and brakes. read more

Absolutely no wait, very fast quote, but $400 for a simple muffler delete, highway robbery

Went there today to get my exhaust fixed. Owner quoted me a really fair price and the work was done right there while I waited. I overheard a couple estimates and they sounded very reasonable as well. Chit chatted with the owner a bit, seemed like an honest no bullshit shop. I'll definitely be taking my car back in the future. read more

Went there today to get my muffler and exhaust pipe looked at they put it right on the lift and examined the car and showed me exactly what was wrong. In fact it wasn't my muffler but a simple fix and that my gasket needed replacement. Right then and there he told me $180 for part and labor and he could do it right then and there. The staff we're very friendly, knowledgeable and fair. I had previously went to Meineke and they quoted me $472 for unnecessary parts. This shop is run by hard working people who know what they are doing and extremely reasonable! An old style real mechanic shop and they sure do the business they very busy and worked fast to get everyone helped! They also give a year warrantee on the part which is great! I totally recommend you check them out of your looking for great service and for a good price! My car sounds brand new! read more

I'm so thankful I found this place, walked in told the owner my problem he looked at my truck right away explained what needs to be done than started working. He saved me hundreds of dollars these guys have the right tools to handle the job! I went to two other spots before here trying to see if they can do what I needed to be done with my muffle. They said they didn't have the right equipment and to just replace everything. These guys where Able to actually make a muffle on the spot was amazing! Everything is brand new and my check engine light went off! Car runs and drives perfect they did an amazing job! Owner was real easy to talk too and his guys new what they where doing! Thanks again! If anyone is looking at spots for muffle repair or replacement this is the go to spot anywhere else your just wasting your time to be honest. read more

Do not go to this place these people are out to overcharge you and waste your time. Had 2 bad experiences with them one which they turned me down for. I called to see if they can install test pipes on my car and they said yes. I show up the owner was all scared and claimed it to be "illegal", then I took it to my mechanic and did it under an hour with low charge. Like how are you a muffler shop and fear installing test pipes lol. Second experience is when I asked them to install Downpipes on my car. I show up and they put the car on a lift to see what to do. Owner wanted 350 for a down pipe installation. The downpipes themselves did not even cost that much and as soon as he said that I knew they where nothing but a bunch of scums. I immediately told them to put the car down and I will leave and never think of coming back. Overall they were not friendly and had very poor quality of customer experience, I highly recommend not going there!!! read more

If you aren't afraid of driving into the neighborhood and drop off/wait for your car in a less luxurious settings - you will be rewarded with economic pricing and quick quality work. I waited 1 hr (due to other customers), gentleman diagnosis my problem within a minute, exhaust work took 20 minutes, economical bill and on my way. Will use them again and no appointment necessary just bring a book or PodCast to wait and listen to. read more

A great shop for general car repair work and maintenance. I have been going to this shop since I bought my first car. They installed a fart can on my Acura integra lol. For those not familiar with the ricer lfestyle, a fart can is an exhaust that s extremely loud made specifically to make the driver look like an idiot in his $2,000 car and to help annoy your neighbors. To me I was in heaven, a young idiot who wanted to annoy the world. Then I grew up and still go to ths shop for brake jobs when I am to lazy to just do it myself and for oil changes. The owner of the shop is there pretty much every day and you an trust him and his mechanics to do an honest job for a fair price. read more

Meinke quoted me 400. Links did it for 260. They take you in the back when the car is on the lift and show you what needs repair . What shop does that ? The mechanic did some nice work including welding a bracket on. I told Renee the owner that if the muffler stays on the car he gets a 5 star review . But seriously I trust the place . They are honest and that's very important to me . A plus. read more

So glad i went with the reviews i saw here on Sunday..called This morning was told to bring the car over... turns out I did not need a muffler.. some cutting welding...very professional showed us exactly what was wrong .. turnaround about an hour and half.. very fair price. I was referred to Links by my regular mechanic. Renee was very quick to examine my car and give me a quote. I got a second quote from a national chain and the prices were $10 apart. I usually do not write any reviews, but people should know what kind of people they are dealing and/or will deal with. I called two days before to request and appointment, we confirmed and set a date and time. I called again the day before to reconfirm and everything was set. I finally came in, I was greeted with disrespect when starting discussions stating that I have to wait and stand in the sun until they are done with the cars ahead of me. Pricing was confirmed at $250 (still overpriced for a muffler delete) and when I get their they stated $500 and we negotiated down to $300 (so pricing is clearly made up and try to see if someone will fall for it). A half hour passes (per my appointment time) and they said I need to be "more patient" and to "relax" (mind you it's 98 degrees outside). I wait one hour, still nothing. 2 hours pass by and I decide to ask again when I can be taken in. They said the same thing "man you need to relax". 2 hours and a half passes and the guy comes to me stating that my car is "too low" to go on the ramp and with the worst attitude. Mind you my car was in front of their faces for the past 2 hours and a half and could have gone up the ramp. I simply told them, I confirmed my appointment twice, giving you the car information and type of service I need. The least you guys could have done is inform me 2 and a half hours ago that this car cannot go on. I was disgusted with the way they presented themselves as well as the way they requested for me to leave as if they are doing me a favor for free or something. Overall, horrible experience and would definitely not recommend this place to anyone. Sanders read more
