We purchased our car from our son in 1/24 as he was purchasing a new car. We had it serviced at the authorized Hyundai dealer (Paramus) to about $3000.00. Still when I drove it and braked it still seemed to vibrate and the steering wheel vibrated like crazy !!! We finally took it to Mavis to have the brakes checked, new brakes....still the same same problem. Took it back 3 days later, they changed the rotors gave us a great discount.... and it's awesome! Awesome little shop with a friendly staff who try to repair your problem instead of overselling you or trying to rip you off. Stopped in to have my exhaust looked at. Simple inspection revealed a portion of my exhaust was rusted on the flange and needed a new piece of pipe welded in. 1.5 hours later and $80 for the repair with a 1 year warranty on the new pipe section and welding. Fair assessment, quick repair and reasonable price. Would recommend this place for exhaust or brake repairs. 2nd experience was horrible. Left the car with them for a suspension job. Instead of the fair service of my first visit, I got way (WAY) overcharged on labor for service. Pricing for labor exceeded what the dealer would have charged. Job took 4 days and car was returned with a rattle that the shop couldn't figure out but they mentioned to bring it back if it presented an issue. Oh well, get a 2nd opinion. Visit these guys for exhaust, avoid them for all else or get a 2nd opinion. read more

My experience with Links has been unfailingly excellent. Links' mechanics appear to me to be experienced and conscientious. The owner seems to be a great boss, honest and engaged. The business seems pretty well equipped to handle its areas of specialization. Mine was a somewhat complicated job on an import and they stuck with it until it was done right, without making excuses or coming up with surprises like other places try. The waiting area is as good as anyone should expect, and actually better than most shops I have seen. The price was fair, and work comes with a warranty. Bad service, unfriendly staff. Took my car in for an oil change. No one in the place I waited 70 minutes for a simple oil change. Owner behind the counter was unfriendly and staff as well. Didn't even ask me what kind of oil I wanted when I saw the bill he said well you needed that oil when I clearly didn't. Charles Dickens could have been describing this place in the opening words of A TALE OF TWO CITIES. Walking into the "office" at Link's Mufflers is a TAXIesque experience. We thought that we were going to find Danny DeVito behind the counter. You won't find any amenities here. No complimentary coffee or Wi-Fi. No free loaner cars. Even the seating in the cramped waiting area is no-frills. It's actually reclaimed car seats. No joke. Fancy schmancy. But what you WILL find here is an honest repair shop that does good work at reasonable prices. We've been accused of throwing around 5-star Yelp reviews as if they were manhole covers, and it's true. This is the very first 5-star review we've ever posted on Yelp. After reading the above description, you are probably wondering if we are suffering from distemper or rabies. Read on... We know our way around a car, and we do almost all of our own repairs, from brake jobs to electrical repairs, to once rebuilding the engine on our old Pontiac. We bought the parts necessary to replace our current vehicle's exhaust system, but once we got into the job, realized we needed more work done than we could do ourselves. We had never used Link's before, but we stopped in for an estimate. Unlike most shops, they actually invited us into the work area while the car was up on the lift, and went over the work that was necessary. This alone gave us confidence in the shop. We feel that a good restaurant will never have a problem with letting you see their kitchen, and Link's had invited us into their "kitchen". They agreed to use the parts we had already purchased, and gave us a reasonable price for the job. They completed the job in a half-day, which is more than we can say for any dealership service department or body shop we've ever used. When we picked up the car, they once again invited us to see the work they had done, while the car was still up in the air. Not all customers will care to see how the sausage is made, and many wouldn't know the difference between a tail pipe and a tailbone, but we do, and we appreciated their willingness to show us. We wish we could give them more than 5 stars. Great mechanics, fair prices, zero attitude, quick work, and respect for their customers. We would be doggone crazy to ever go anywhere else for auto repairs. P.S. - Despite another reviewer's comments, we don't consider Haledon, New Jersey to be a dangerous area. True, Beverly Hills it's not. It's a working-class town, not unlike many other towns in North Jersey. Went there today to get my muffler and exhaust pipe looked at they put it right on the lift and examined the car and showed me exactly what was wrong. In fact it wasn't my muffler but a simple fix and that my gasket needed replacement. Right then and there he told me $180 for part and labor and he could do it right then and there. The staff we're very friendly, knowledgeable and fair. I had previously went to Meineke and they quoted me $472 for unnecessary parts. This shop is run by hard working people who know what they are doing and extremely reasonable! An old style real mechanic shop and they sure do the business they very busy and worked fast to get everyone helped! They also give a year warrantee on the part which is great! He saved me hundreds of dollars these guys have the right tools to handle the job! I went to two other spots before here trying to see if they can do what I needed to be done with my muffle. They said they didn't have the right equipment and to just replace everything. These guys where Able to actually make a muffle on the spot was amazing! Do not go to this place these people are out to overcharge you and waste your time. Had 2 bad experiences with them one which they turned me down for. I called to see if they can install test pipes on my car and they said yes. I show up the owner was all scared and claimed it to be "illegal", then I took it to my mechanic and did it under an hour with low charge. Like how are you a muffler shop and fear installing test pipes lol. Second experience is when I asked them to install Downpipes on my car. I show up and they put the car on a lift to see what to do. Owner wanted 350 for a down pipe installation. The downpipes themselves did not even cost that much and as soon as he said that I knew they where nothing but a bunch of scums. I immediately told them to put the car down and I will leave and never think of coming back. Overall they were not friendly and had very poor quality of customer experience, I highly recommend not going there!!! read more

For those not familiar with the ricer lfestyle, a fart can is an exhaust that s extremely loud made specifically to make the driver look like an idiot in his $2,000 car and to help annoy your neighbors. I usually do not write any reviews, but people should know what kind of people they are dealing and/or will deal with. I called two days before to request and appointment, we confirmed and set a date and time. I called again the day before to reconfirm and everything was set. I finally came in, I was greeted with disrespect when starting discussions stating that I have to wait and stand in the sun until they are done with the cars ahead of me. Pricing was confirmed at $250 (still overpriced for a muffler delete) and when I get their they stated $500 and we negotiated down to $300 (so pricing is clearly made up and try to see if someone will fall for it). A half hour passes (per my appointment time) and they said I need to be "more patient" and to "relax" (mind you it's 98 degrees outside). I wait one hour, still nothing. 2 hours pass by and I decide to ask again when I can be taken in. They said the same thing "man you need to relax". 2 hours and a half passes and the guy comes to me stating that my car is "too low" to go on the ramp and with the worst attitude. Mind you my car was in front of their faces for the past 2 hours and a half and could have gone up the ramp. I simply told them, I confirmed my appointment twice, giving you the car information and type of service I need. The least you guys could have done is inform me 2 and a half hours ago that this car cannot go on. I was disgusted with the way they presented themselves as well as the way they requested for me to leave as if they are doing me a favor for free or something.
