I was expecting good things but was very disappointed. I love Aveda products for sure, but my stylist was just so so. I waited 15 minutes after my appointment time before she came and got me and really thought I should just get up and leave. I know it's hard to cut someone's hair for the first time but it wasn't anything like I wanted. I've had my share of bad cuts for sure and thank goodness my hair grows fast. It was way too short and the back of my hair was crooked, I looked like my hair was a bell. I ended up having to call my regular stylist (which was on vacation at the time I wanted a hair cut) and have her fix my hair. The price was a little too much for what I ended up with $96 and then I did a deep conditioning treatment which was another $15. I felt like she forgot about me in the bowl. And I tipped her $30 on top of that. Then had to pay my girl to fix it after all that. Still love the rosemary and mint shampoo but not the finished product. Lesson learned. read more

So I had high hopes for Aveda since going to other locations in other states besides Oklahoma. But today I asked for shorter length and I wanted like a tapered shag but I walked out with somewhat of like a mushroom mullet. The stylist bless her heart. She round Brushed dried my hair to make it really not look good. This was supposed to be a master stylist. I have been ripping my hair out from anxiety after calling location they have not offered to fix it or refund me or anything. They just want me to schedule a coloring appointment sad My expectations of Aveda are significantly reduced. No hate just MAJOR disappointment. Serena to the rescue! I had had a horrible 4 weeks: A major theft to my home and my daughter's breast cancer diagnosis left me exhausted and spent. Follow that with a disaster haircut from another non-Aveda provider and I was exhausted, spent AND feeling really unattractive (okay, downright ugly). I happened in on a Friday afternoon, really just seeking some stylist input. The manager took a look, asked if I wanted a cut, said they had an immediate opening with a master stylist and said, Let us pamper you! Well, they did! Two hours later, with that can only be described a as "hair correction" not a haircut, I walked out with a new style -- 7 inches shorter -- and feeling more relaxed and content than I had in months. Serena took her time and never rushed the "hair correction." A neck and hand massage helped alleviate stress and tension. Each staff member was kind and considerate -- offering tea, cookies, etc. Yes, it is pricey but so worth the investment -- it's an investment in looking and feeling your best. read more

Don't even consider going anywhere else! I absolutely love the Lion Salon and Spa! I know I always look for honest reviews so here is my break down: Covid-19 Concerns: They have these gorgeous plexiglass dividers that fit right into their aesthetic, not only are they chic but they provide another barrier of protection between you and other clients. Everyone is required to wear a mask however when you are in your secure plexiglass "cubby" it is personal discretion, although they appreciate it if you keep your mask on. Temperature checks are done at the door and you sign a Covid-19 waiver before going into your appointment. They do a great job of keeping everything clean and everyone safe! Stylists: All of the stylists are AMAZING, and I absolutely recommend Jen. The best piece of advice I was given by one of the stylists there is that yes everyone is qualified to do anything you need but when setting up an appointment ask who would best fit your needs. So if you're a brunette looking to deepen your color and get a chop you definitely want to see Zach but if your a blonde who needs a touch up on highlights and is looking for a long tapered look, Jen's got your needs! So when setting up your next appointment don't be afraid to ask for the best fit! The Cut/Services: To sum it up in one word... Luxurious! I have never had a bad cut, color, or service here. Prices can be a little on the high side but you are paying for quality, I like to think of it as investing in myself. Even if you are just going in for a cut not only is your hair receiving nourishing Aveda products but at the bowl, they do warm facial towels to enhance the relaxation experience. Atmosphere: Bright, inviting, sleek and modern was my initial impression of the salon. The staff is top tier and holds true to the Aveda name. The salon itself is extremely clean and put together, this is a local professional salon. From the moment you walk in the door, the stylist's attention is on you, they aren't taking calls while cutting your hair or gossiping with coworkers while you're in foils. The Lion Spa location in Brookhaven was my weekly hair appointment for cut, color and shampoo/blow dry. They really overdo the confirmation of appointments by text and email, but I responded regardless. Two weeks IN A ROW, they called me at last minute to cancel, with no one to replace their appointment they confirmed 3 times in same week. 2nd time and no apology, as though it was no big deal to them. I will NEVER return. Worst service ever. Too many other good, DEPENDABLE salons out there. read more

I love Lion Salon and have been going to it for a few years now. What first drew me in was that it's an Aveda salon, guaranteed master stylists, great products, and a strong earth focused mission. Also, I highly recommend Seryna! She's incredible with color/balayage and I've recommended her to my friends as well! I waited a couple of days to calm down before writing this review. I was going to book an appt at another salon that I usually go to, but their next opening was in Jan. It was my fault for not planning and for being inpatient. I had my first haircut from here in 2019, and it was not what I wanted, so I should've learned my lesson. Anyway, I had Aubrey, she was sweet, but her skills need improvement. I showed her a picture of what I wanted, and she understood what I was looking for in terms of length and style. She held a section of my hair, and I saw it was a bit over the shoulder, and I said, that's good. Not sure, what happened but she chopped 2 and a half inches shorter, and it's at the ear now. I know it's too late, and I didn't want to cause a scene. Once she finished, she asked me what my thoughts were, and I told her this was way shorter than I wanted. Then she said, well, it's just hair, and it will grow out. At this point, I was mortified. My hair looks like a blend of Sia's and a bowl cut. Once I paid, the manager asked me how it was, and I told her what had happened. I showed her the picture, and she said, "oh, it is shorter." Then she asked if my hair grows fast, I said no. She said, "Well, you should still come back and give Aubrey one more chance and have her shape it once it grew out. The manager said she would talk to her, but she seemed unapologetic and insincere. read more

I love going here the people are very nice and friendly and accommodating to my busy college schedule. I love Aveda products! They are all very natural using flower and plant essences. They smell fabulous and I frequently get compliments on how my hair smells. The ambiance of the salon is inviting and relaxing. The staff is very friendly and usually offers ice cold fruit infused water in a glass. I go monthly to get a massage. The room is dreamy. My experience here was unlike any I have had before. My husband booked me a surprise cut and facial because my pregnancy has been hard and we are about to do maternity pictures. He told them to add whatever other services I wanted as well.. The experience seemed like it would be great. They gave me hot tea as I arrived and even had a little bulletin board with my name; which made me feel special.. They started with the facial which was amazing. The staff was very kind, there was great ambience and the facility was very clean, inviting, and looked high quality. All of that being said I won't be returning because of the lack of transparency on their part. My husband wanted to book me a fancy high quality experience which was shattered when I was placed in the chair of a stylist very fresh out of school. If the salon would have explained to my husband that there were tiers of experienced stylist he would of booked me the tier with the most experience because he wanted to do something special and he was ready to spend extra to do so. However they were not transparent that the tier of stylist they booked him for me was what they called protege ( a tier they later told me means they are still being guided under one of their master stylist.) I showed the protege a picture with a lot of layers in the hair and side swipe bangs. I walked out with way shorter hair than I wanted with no layers and a pinch of baby hair cut to be short bangs that didn't blend.. they weren't even long enough to curl.. I wear glasses and didn't have them of because they would be in the way of cutting but I new something was wrong during the cut when another staff member came over and adjusted my apron.. she then remarked to my stylist that she could make "straighter lines if the apron was straight and over the back of my seat." Then I felt her adjust my hair and I knew then it was way too short.. but you can't rewind a hair cut so I just tried not to cry.. I set in the chair for just a cut for over 1 hour. I have never had a layered hair cut take so long. Her next appointment was even waiting with a book. At the end I was too scared to have her adjust anything so I just paid and left.. Once in the car I noticed the right side of my straight shoulder length hair cut was an inch longer than my left and I started crying.. when I got home I tried curling and rewashing and curling to bring out any layers but there wasn't any. I went in with a picture of Buffy from season one episode one and left looking like a lop sided Sabrina season one with thicker baby hairs for bangs.. I cried more and left a message at the salon.. I spoke with the salon the next day and they kindly invited me back to have a master trainer fix my hair.. The master trainer evened out the sides and added some layers but my hair is too short to actually get what I came in for. Everyone was kind but at the end of it all the receptionist said they were," sorry that my husband just asked for the next first available appointment.." He wasn't told of the different tier options and what they meant. She also said, "sorry [you] had to come back.. that this is just the way that any stylist gets better.. from experience and it's a unfortunate sometimes people have to come back to get things adjusted.." Look, I don't mind volunteering or helping others but I would like to be made aware of it ahead of time so I can choose.. My husband and I did not ask for a discounted haircut. We wanted a fancy, professional, and effortless experience. I did not know we were going to be paying a salon to sit in the chair of someone who needed practice and now I have a totally different look, that I didn't want. This will take a while to grow out and I'm supposed to do maternity pictures soon. Look, I'm just deeply saddened. We would've booked the more experienced, expensive, tier had we been made aware. Customers experience and outcome don't have priority at this salon which is so sad. I really wish I would've walked out after the facial. The facial was definitely five stars. I only gave one star because of the facial. Otherwise I would say no stars because of the lack of transparency. Booking clients without actually divulging explicitly the lack of expertise a stylist may have and that there are different price points is just dishonest and so unnecessary.. Your setting different price points for that reason.. Again we would've booked the better experience had we just known. But then I guess they would not have been able to practice on my head for over an hour the first time. Now it's gonna be a year before I can actually fix my hair.. I hope this detailed post saves the next person some heart break. Honesty is always best. We won't be returning here. read more

I have been going to Lion Salon for over 3 years, as the years went by it was harder for me to get an appointment. The person I saw was either booked up, they cancelled on me, or I was extremely ill and not able to make it. Due to her schedule being so full I was asked to try someone else. I asked for a haircut, and it turned out to be not what I had in mind. It was not bad looking we just didn't see eye to eye. Time went by I let me hair grow out and waited for my normal person. I went in this past weekend; everything was going fine (or at least I thought). She asked me how I wanted my hair cut, I tried to explain not like it was the last time I was here. These were my words "the last time he cut my bangs he cut too much and started to put layers in. I want more of a wispier bang" Apparently that hairstylist heard it and took it personally, because he was the only male stylist at the time. About 3 days later I received an email saying that I publicly shamed the hairstylist, and that I was not allowed to be a guest anymore. If I had any questions to contact the general manager. Well to my surprise I did, she explained that they are all a creative bunch and that they take things personally. I apologized if I offended anyone and that it was not my intention to shame anyone. All she could say is the owner wants to protect her staff's mental wellbeing. What about the client; we are the ones that if something goes wrong has to live with it until it can either grow out or get it fixed. A usual appointment for me is in the range of 250-300 dollars each time. I have a lot of hair and its curly which makes somethings difficult. If you are a type of person that has a simple hair cut, style, or one that will never question then this is the place for you. However, be aware that if anything goes wrong you will be asked not to return. read more
