    Beef brisket Dip

Stopped here for lunch on a road trip and found the place very quiet... suspiciously quiet, but... went for it anyway. We asked for suggestions and he really got into it, quite appreciated. We finally decided and order the pull pork tacos and the house smoked brisket dip sandwich. They were both very tasty and the meat was specially tender. Couldn't enjoy any of the drinks (they have a long and appealing beers menu) because of the road... maybe next time!

Oh yummy food and beer! How I love you. Friendly welcoming service, great food served with quickness, excellent beer selection. Drove by some sad grungy looking places in Castlegar that we considered only because we were getting hangry. yelp to the rescue! Right across the river in Robson we found this place. So glad we did! Okay, so strictly speaking, I should only give the BBQ a 4 at best. I'm pretty sure in Texas it's illegal to call this brisket BBQ. But I can't judge Canadian BBQ by Texas standards. It's just not fair. And at least this meat is smoked, not just roasted and tossed in sauce. Plus the flavour is very good. Fries very well seasoned, cornbread moist and flavoursome. If I add two bonus stars for being the only appetizing option we drove by, I'd have to give this place six stars. Plus a bonus star for cleanliness. Now I'm just getting crazy because my belly is full of delicious meat and beer.

If your looking for great food & craft beer the Lion's Head is the place! Always fast friendly service! Beautiful front & back patios. Lucky to have this local gem!

    They have what you need

This place was perfect, especially to start the morning with amazing beers, nachos, and service and ambiance worth every penny.

so happy we crossed the river from our hotel in Castlegar to come here! it was super close, and totally worth it! Lots of great local beers to choose from, and a nice seat on the patio with a great view. The jerk chicken was really good, and I tried a few bites of Jimmy's poutine which was pretty good too, and I don't even like poutine. Service was ok - we asked what beer was available and she told us to go inside and read the board. that's fine, but I'm used to having servers give a few suggestions...no big deal though!

Waited for 20 minutes to be served or even acknowledged on a Tuesday night - we eventually left.

The waitress was great but seemed like she like she might have been in over her head a little with the business of the place but she did okay and was kind. The ambiance was typical of any pub, nothing special but certainly nothing to complain about. We will 100% be back sometime in the not too distant future.

We were…read moregoing to have dinner here, but the reviews are wide ranging, so we thought we'd stop in for a bowl of soup and a beer and see for ourselves. The building itself is for sale, not sure if that matters or not. The entry is old school, but the interior is very plain and the ceilings are low, so it's noisy. Our server was very quick to get us menus, our requested water arrived quickly as did our beers. No complaints at all with how we were treated. We both ordered the small Borschts, the lovely K with white bread and I the rye. The soup was good, not great, the bread was very good. The presentation of the soup was very average with soup up the side of the bowl. Kind of looked like they had too much in my bowl and poured some in K's. We chose to go to another place (Chinese) for dinner after our experience at Clyde's. Nothing wrong with the place, but nothing stood out other than our server.

I've driven past Benedict's many times and have wanted to check it out. Tonight I had the regrettable displeasure. Our waitress was very nice. Perfect service. I ordered a main. A 10oz NY strip steak, medium rare, pretty standard. It showed up, a sad 8oz at best thin little steak on a soggy piece of garlic bread looking pretty crispy. I got a couple bites in. The initial flavour was bland followed by a bitter burnt musty taste, imagine trying to eat reconstituted mothballs overcooked on a dirty grill. I felt my eyes water up as I chewed. I tried to swallow. I felt my entire GI tract prepare to purge. That was as far as I was willing to go with this sad steak. Please understand that I've eaten some wildly questionable meals around the world. This still wins the worst. Our waitress came by to check on the food. I politely told her I wasn't going to be able to eat the steak. Without hesitation she apologized and said she'd have them remake it no problem. Cool, ok, great. My gross sad steak leaves the table. 30 seconds later the MANAGER shows up with the steak I thought I'd never have to look at again. She was pissssed! She wanted to have a full on argument with me about what medium rare is. In the end she charged me $30 for an un edible piece of meat. She was so out of line and ready to battle with me. It was actually so insane it was hilarious, in a sad pathetic way. Anyways, save yourself the horrible experience and the waste of time of money and go literally anywhere else. My dogs thought it was good! So there's that.. I guess.
