This place was great! A hundred or so of us descended on the sleepy little town on Woodstock one Saturday, stretching the limits of the bars we patronized. I asked the bartender here if they were expecting this many people, and he said no, he'd been pulled in to do extra hours, and then commented on how fun we made the place and he was enjoying himself. Well, we enjoyed ourselves at your place too, good sir! Specialty vodka drinks, tasty mac n' cheese buffet and what's this?! Deep fried mashed potato? I just closed out at this bar tonight at 2:00 am on 17July2022 and the male bartender was disrespectful throughout our whole experience here to my group of 10+ people for what seemed for personal reasons and was homophobic. I'm not out this way too often but my friend was celebrating her birthday and this was where she wanted to meet up with the rest of our crew. I was able to park on the street easy enough, always a good way to start a night in unfamiliar turf. My friend picked this place because she thought it had a cool hippie vibe about it. None of us were really old enough to be hippies the first time around but everyone has a hippie gene buried deep down somewhere in their DNA. My theory. The hairy dude checking for IDs at the door seemed pretty righteous. The band was playing mostly 70s music tonight. It was loud but not so loud as to make conversation impossible. The locals were all having a good time singing to the music and getting on the limited dance floor. The folks behind the bar were quick to respond to my drink orders, though I kept my selection to Woodchuck tonight. Pretty straightforward. We tried to play a couple of boardgames amid the din of half audible conversations and a John Denver cover. Boardgames line the wall for the patrons to curiously peruse. Someone's battleship got sunk, I couldn't remember whose but it was all giggly fun. At some point, you abandon whatever you're playing and take your drink, your friends and your silly butt to the dance floor. You try and figure out how to dance to some of this stuff. There are cabs in Woodstock. I know, right? And it's a damn good thing too because Liquid Blues pumped so much proof into me I was damn near cross-eyed. Overcome with hiccups that wouldn't quit, I reunited with family and raised hell at this garden level joint. And judging by the juke box selections, tie-dye for sale, glowing orbs, tapestries and lava lamps, a joint would have been a mighty fine idea. Medicinal, of course. Our bartender was an absolute doll, the owner's son Andrew, who had a chin piercing, wore hemp necklaces and had long blond hair. . . something of a Josh Holloway lookalike. I found Stevie W. for tunes and sat back to watch the circus of regulars, townies and small-town trannies embrace and grind and cajole and hug. I was told my lips were very glossy and because Liquid makes you friendly thanks to twofer Lemon Drops, I gave away my tube and thus began the philanthropy. "Next round's on me!" I say, nevermind the swelling crowd around me. The Square in Woodstock is a small town Bermuda Triangle. You go there and get lost, stay there for hours, fall asleep next to a Flop House and wake up in the grass. It's a special place, where Punxatawny Phil reveled over and over and over. The drinks are cheap and strong and Liquid and will conk you out so the next day hurts a bit, but only after you've had a colorful and exceptionally Fellini-type time. read more

When my boyfriend comes out to visit me in my neck of the woods, this is our favorite dive bar to go to. The drinks are decently priced for a dive bar, but we come here for fun and ambiance. Liquid Blues is a total hippie bar, complete with bead curtains, lava lamps, and a total 60s/70s feel. It's very laid back, the staff is always awesome and down-to-earth and the vibe is fun. It's a great place to meet up with friends (or even a date-we had our first date here). You have your options of pool, darts, or watching the latest game on TV. There's a jukebox too. I know there are nights they have live bands and other events, but we usually come on a Sunday, when things are a little more relaxed. I also wanted to note that Liquid Blues does serve food, just not on Sundays, so I haven't been able to enjoy that aspect of the bar. But I hear from friends it's good eats at cheap prices. I should start by saying I am somewhat of a counter-culture girl myself, so my love for Liquid Blues is slightly biased due soley to the fact that there aren't many hippie bars in the burbs. With that said, I always enjoy myself when I visit Liquid Blues. The atmosphere is laid-back with down-to-earth bartenders, great live music and decently priced drinks. Tapestries, beads, lava lamps and other hippie decor abound. In a way, it could be considered a dive bar, but don't let that keep you from giving it a try. The place has a ton of character. Bonus: It's an underground bar, so you can keep drinkin' and dancin' even in severe weather! read more

I used to frequent this bar pretty regularly. Now, when I go there, most of the time the music is too loud or the band has so much bass I'm screaming in order to try to have a conversation. But, the people there make all the difference. Even though it's loud, the bartenders are extremely friendly, the regulars don't judge you, and the decorations are pretty unique. read more

The atmosphere in this bar is pretty neat, with a throwback to the 1960s in decor and a live blues band on most nights. It's downstairs in a semi-underground location with cute Christmas lights strung from one end to the other and lava lamps that provide just the right amount of ambience. How very, food and drink prices aren't very chela and and service seems to take forever. We half forgot we even ordered food when we came to Liquid Blues because it took so long! A regular customer until now. Took out of town guests and waited an hour and a half with no food. Nobody got served for over an hour in the whole restaurant. Waiter said he never worked there before. Told waiter we were leaving without paying for drinks and he said he understood. Someone from the restaurant chased us down the street yelling for payment ($30.00) after waiting forever. The people I was with would rate this much higher. On experience alone it's a 5 star just because it was so much fun! Food was amazing in all, but the specific items I got were good, but not the best I've had. Our waitress was so nice. She gave us free dip just because and when I decided to try the absinthe for the first time she went and got it and showed me what it was and let me smell it to make sure it was what I wanted. We went on a Saturday night. My friends got the rib-eye. My husband got the mac n cheese. I got the veggie wrap. The rib-eyes were insane. No steak sauce needed. They were melt in your mouth and you could tell they beat the hell out of them to make them so tender. The mac n cheese sauce was different, but very good. He got it with bacon on it and loved the bread it came with. The veggie wrap was good and had a kick to it, but it wasn't runny nose spicy. It tasted fresh. The side a few of us got were the deep fried mashed potatoes which I enjoyed for something different than the same old fries and mashed potato sides. The 3 other people I was with loved the dip - it was a beer cheese ball. It was okay, but the pretzels overpowered the taste of the dip and even when I had it by itself, it wasn't my favorite. My husband loved the fact they had Bob's 47 on tap. The 3 others ended up having Beer Cheese soup for 'dessert'. It was good. Everyone looked like they were having fun on the music/pool table side, but we had to go. We are going back this weekend. :) read more

I stopped in at this place last Fall and fell in love with it. I decided to have my Birthday celebration here in November. The staff was very friendly. They treated myself and my whole group very well. We got a complimentary bottle of champagn and pudding shots. (Which were fantastic.) The food was excellent and very fair priced. We stayed until almost closing time playing board games while enjoying the atmosphere and juke box selections. The staff should receive koodles for being so nice to me and my whole group of friends. This place is a trip - literally! A downstairs joint with a great vibe of 60's 70's counterculture and a mixed bag crowd that really works to make this a good place to go. From the bar offerings to the board games to the juke box, lots to do here. Didn't get a chance to try the food but the drink selection was as good as any place. read more

This place is a real gem in Woodstock. It screams "dive" but in the best possible way. Walk down a few steps and enter a cool little place with 70's decor and all the funky cheesiness that implies. Absolutely the worst experience I've ever had. Walked into your establishment and was refused service by the bartender. We have been to Liquid Blues on several occasions and had a good time. But we will never visit Liquid Blues again. Apparently we are not the right color for your bartender. We did nothing to deserve such disrespect except walk in the front door after working all day. I will spread the word to everyone I know about your bartender being a racist. Sad that you allow someone like that to work there. read more

I would not rate this very high as a "happening place to go " we were their last Saturday night from 8:45 till 10:30 and the place was Dead!! Food was weak but we did meet a very nice bartender so we will be back for cocktails, but we will skip the food... read more
