Great little brewery right off highway 287. It's small and quaint but the beers are absolutely delicious. I highly recommend the marshmallow stout and my buddy had the Mexican style lager which was full bodied and delicious as well. Autumn was our bartender and she was a sweetheart with great service. I could definitely recommend this spot to anyone who's a fan of good beer without the ego that many breweries have these days. I am in awe with the sheer volume of breweries in Colorado. Now I'm only visiting the Erie area, but I venture out a little further to check out a new place. LM did not disappoint. Beer was tasty, especially the sour. Service at the bar was friendly and efficient. And to put the cherry on top of a delicious pint, or two, no charge for a brewery sticker! My CO collection is shaping up nicely. I'm surprised how many breweries don't have a sticker, or are out. I'd like to hold back a star on those, but don't think I will. read more

They are equipped with various beers: IPAs (east and west), Lagers, Stouts, Ales, etc. With traditional flavors to "hmm, that's a bit more suped up", you're bound to find the right beer to tune up your mood. The service is wholesome, and not rushed. They'll happily talk through options and give their advice on your best fix. Personally, I enjoy the atmosphere. There's ample seating inside or on nice days they put the garage door up to their small but mighty patio. You could cruise a date here for a quick convertible conversation or pack the van with all your friends for an afternoon hang! Either way, I'd say rev your engine and zoom on in. read more

First time visiting Liquid Mechanics and it was a great experience. The space is really nice and clean and the bartenders were super friendly and inviting. I really like the way they decorated a big, open space. Oftentimes it can feel a little sterile with an open floor concept, but they did a great job with the wood accents, hip corner lounge with studded armchairs and the cask room with barrels lining the wall. We didn't go out on the patio, but it looked nice and chill. The beers we tried were pretty great. If you're an IPA lover like my husband there's a bunch on the menu, but I personally prefer an amber or stout and they had a few options. The Märzen was my favorite and I also got to try the coconut stout which was delicious. My husband got the Jiggle Juice which he thought was good and we also tried the Stuck in Reverse which I thought was a little bitter. The back room with pinball machines was clean and well-maintained. They have a good selection and there's a change machine right next to the machines. A really cool place to hang in Lafayette with a rotating food truck parked outside. Will definitely be back! read more

Dear Liquid Mechanics Brewing, Having heard nothing but rave reviews about you from fellow beer-lovers over the years, I was beyond excited when my husband's mid-morning tee time gave me a great excuse to tag along for my own brew-venture. After grabbing breakfast and killing some time, I showed up promptly at noon as you opened your doors to sample your delicious nectar. My pup and I snagged a spot on what is typically your patio. I love that you have converted a portion of your parking lot to outdoor seating to help accommodate more thirsty patrons in these strange times. Your well marked social distancing reminders, abundant cleanliness, and cautionary measures did not go unoticed. Wanting to sample as much of your tap list as possible I opted for a flight covering a wide variety of brews. My flight consisted of: Kolsch, Hop Nectar (hazy IPA), Notoriously Brutal (grape brut sour), Purple Reign (boysenberry gose), and Dreamsicle Brutal (tangerine/vanilla sour). Clearly I was leaning towards your tart and sour brews during my visit. Wow! They were all so flavorful and well balanced. I can't pick a favorite, because they were just all soo damn good! Your staff was so friendly and welcoming. They were more than willing to help me with my beer and merch selection. You can tell they truly love what they do! Oh, how I wish Liquid Mechanics was my neighborhood brewery, but they're not. They are about a half-hour from where I live, but anytime I'm in the area I stop in. They make consistently good beers with a fair amount of creativity and connection to the seasons. Nothing too over the top but still fun. They also offer a few traditional styles done well on the regular. They usually have a food truck, and when it's warm, they have a great patio to play some games or relax in the sunshine. First time going to Liquid Mechanics and it did not disappoint. We tried a number of beers and were very impressed. We tried this brewery because we are fans of the Grey Duck Eats food truck -- even though we made the trip for the food, we are very happy to have a new destination for beer. The only downside is that when we arrived there were maybe 3 people inside. Not busy at all. The female bartender couldn't be bothered to greet us or address us in anyway. We stood there looking right at her and she just looked at us with a blank stare, and then turned away and started talking to a guy already sitting at the bar, just a few feet away from us. Really weird as our group more than doubled the number of patrons in the place. Since we were there for Grey Duck Eats we stayed, but under other circumstances we would have left. Luckily, within the hour a younger female bartender showed up who was pleasant, engaging and really improved our experience. We ended up staying longer and trying more beers because we knew that she would serve us. read more

Came to Colorado for some hiking week before Memorial Day. Liquid Mechanics (LMX) was one of the top beer places on the list to visit during the trip. Ended up going 2 days in a row before venturing up to RMNP. Took some West Coast Cartel tallboys up with me to Estes. Then ended up there again after heading back toward the airport the night before our flight. Why 3x? The breadth of the styles all hit the mark so I tried to get through most of the board that was on tap. IPA's both Hazy (Jiggle Juice and Hop Nectar) and West Coast (Lucid AF and West Coast Cartel) were excellent. Wife had some German styles and those were also spot on. Although not a sour smoothie beer person, we decided to try the Berry and Pineapple. Well those were also very good. Usually ones I had before are too sweet or too sour. These have the perfect balance. Being from the Midwest I have had the chance to visit some 250+ places. LMX is definitely one of the Top 5 I have visited. Make time and get there if you are in the Boulder & Northern Denver suburbs. Great space, friendly employees and cool merch. read more

Went here on 11/8. There are in Boulder County. So they are only at 25% capacity inside. Outside though, they do have a lot of tables. Tables inside are spread out by 6 feet which is great. You have to wait to be seated. All employees are wearing mask and wiping down each table after people leaves. They have a great selection of beer! All the time! From light to dark! Liquid Mechanics: The brewery that put Lafayette on the craft-beer map! The thing that first impressed me about Liquid Mechanics was that when they opened, one of the first beers they brewed was their Amber Altbier. After drinking fresh altbier years ago in Dusseldorf, Germany, it became my favorite beer style of all, but it's really hard to find real German altbier imported to the U.S., and not many U.S. breweries brew it. But the one Liquid Mechanics brews is fantastic and very true to style -- they won a bronze medal for it at the Great American Beer Festival (GABF) in 2015. It just blew my mind that one of the best altbiers in the U.S. was brewed right here in my hometown of Lafayette, Colorado! They don't brew that beer so often anymore (it's not a very popular style around here it seems), but that altbier really hooked me as a customer! Now, on to the rest of the review! The beer: Top notch, spanning many styles, with something for everyone. Hophead? They always have multiple pale ales and/or IPAs on draft, some juicy/hazy (not my thing), but some more classic American and West Coast styles too (totally my thing!). You'll also find lagers (pilsner, dunkel, etc.), and a wide variety of ales, like stouts, porters, sours, and various Belgian-style offerings. Growler fills, crowlers, and cans are available to go. Check the website for availability; it usually seems pretty well up to date. Some of their beer can also be found in plenty of stores throughout the area (especially cans of Lucid AF, Hopacity, and Hop Nectar, and I think I've still seen occasional bombers of their famous Peanut Butter Porter). The place: Spacious, well-designed, modern interior, with a quieter back room. Very welcoming and family friendly -- there are usually cans of Oskar Blues root beer available for the kids (my kid loves it). A good place to meet up with friends and other families, because of the size and space. The outdoor seating area is quite nice, and has been expanded during the COVID-19 pandemic. Although it's at a major intersection, that's never felt like an issue (probably because I'm distracted by the great beer, or am there hanging out with great people!). Staff: Very helpful, friendly, efficient, and knowledgable about the beer. The place seems very well managed. I've organized a few school-parent social events there, and the owners/managers we've worked with have been awesome and supportive. In general, the business does some really cool things to support the community. Food options: There are often food trucks, and a good variety of them; check the schedule on the website. If there is no food truck available, there are lots of restaurants and various to-go options nearby. This review is based on many visits and plenty of beers, mostly pre-COVID-19, but a few visits during the pandemic as well, to pick up beer-to-go and to enjoy pints on the patio. I have felt safe here every time. Based on my experiences, they appear to truly care about customers and staff. Please review their website (and Facebook page), and read over any signage that is posted when you arrive, so that you can be aware of their COVID-19 protocols, have an enjoyable visit, and help out the great staff. Well designed and comfortable. We had the Kölsch which was tasty and smooth, easy drinking. They offer bar side seats, high tops, group seating, outdoor patio drinking and we chose the leather seats below a very interesting industrial art chandelier. We felt very comfortable where we sat and if I were not driving, I could have had a second round and maybe a third as we felt so relaxed. The design as I mentioned, is so calm and relaxed, just a good vibe. They offer several styles of beer from their brewery which appears to be behind the bar in the same building along with take out beer - 32 and 64oz containers at pretty decent prices. Great place! First time here and I'm very impressed. I started with the Liquid AF and my wife had the Key Lime Dough Boiz. They were both excellent! The space is fairly small, with patio seating and a barrel room. I could spend a lot of time here, trying all the beer they offer. I really enjoyed the various glassware options for different beers. I was tempted to get a glass or a shirt. I also saw some great take home options for cans. I was told the pretzels are just okay, so buy at your own risk. Stopped here for a final beer en route from visiting Boulder back to Denver airport. I'm so happy I did. The BBA barleywine and the hoppy IPAs were the best beers I had in the area after the BBA porter at Twisted Pines. The bartender was friendly and helpful. The brewer was walking thru and stopped to chat with me when he saw my hoody from a CA brewery I like. He was kind enough to engage in beer talk with me for a few minutes, which was appreciated. The vibe at the place was laid back and friendly. There is a back room with some video games and you can look into the brewing space thru a glass door. This place is making great beer out of a small spot in a little town. I was definitely impressed and will go back if I'm ever in the area again. read more

Stopped in with the BF after running some errands in Lafayette. The space is great - large bar and inviting tables, couches, loungy areas, etc. There's also a private room in back for special parties/events. I always like to ask what the bartender's favorite beer is at the moment and the one who took our order (I wish I got his name) was super nice. He broke things down by beer type/taste and what he liked about it. I love coconut, so started with the Coconut Bourbon BA RIS - boozy, but realllllly good. A one and done though, at least for me. So much fun and felt very safe during pandemic. I'm a new mom and practicing extreme caution and social distancing during the pandemic. That being said, my new baby and I wanted to meet with a friend for a beer after several months. This was actually our plan B because the first brewery we went to wouldn't allow my 3 month old daughter in because she's under 21. My husband suggested liquid mechanics because of the good amount of outdoor seating and distancing. And, there is a good amount of shaded space if you get there early. We've gotten growlers and beers here and have always been pleased, so we knew the beer would be good! We actually got to the brewery 15 mins before opening and there were 2 other small groups (6 foot of distance) already waiting to get inside - always a good sign. Parking is easy but getting in off Wadsworth, you have to make a U turn in a neighborhood. The beer was great! My favorites were the dreamcicle sour and marshmallow porter (neither are my usual summer drink but I wanted a taster and both were great!!!) I even got a 10oz of the dreamcicle because it tasted really yummy on a hot afternoon. Staff and patrons were practicing good pandemic related regulations. There were lots of signage regarding distancing and wearing masks. They had the brewery mapped out to avoid close contact and had a nice clean plexy glass screen at the order/check out area. The only thing they didn't have was contactless checkout. The staff was friendly and efficient. I will be back! read more

It was a sunny Sunday afternoon but still kinda slow surprisingly, maybe too nice to be inside. The patio though was fine, clean, nice tables and roomy. Plenty of parking. Downside, you're out on the corner of a very busy commercial intersection, not the ideal place to kick back and relax. If we lived nearby it'd definitely be on our beer route however! read more

Liquid Mechanics was a brewery I have been wanting to go to for a very long time! It was a brewery that opened not too long after I was in Colorado visiting several years ago. The beer at Liquid Mechanics is exactly what I am looking for. The brews have a real creative edge to them, are bold and experimental in nature. Something that I am always on the look out for. Case in point Steve and I got the Chipotle Lime Blonde which was outstanding and matched up with our Mexican meal we just came away from at Efrains. The place is very popular too apparently as their taproom was very busy and a bit loud with all of the patrons mingling with each other. It was still relaxing though as we found some great chairs to sit in, kick back and relax despite the noise. We just lost ourselves in our awesome pints of beer that we had! We visited on a quiet Saturday night around 9 pm, and the beautiful and inviting taproom was surprisingly quiet; I think the few guests still around lingering were out on the patio. We made our various selections, and got comfortable in the lovely leather chairs. I must say that my piña colada kolsch was one of the best beers I've had in a long time. How they got a beer to taste this coconutty is beyond me, but it was like a beach vacation in a beer glass! My friend's peanut butter porter was dark and rich, but delicious. I didn't try the guys's beers as I am not an IPA fan, but both gave their approval. Bartenders were friendly. I'd certainly venture back here if I find myself in Lafayette again, and I'll keep my eye out for Liquid Mechanics at future beerfests. read more

I really enjoy the beer here. I brought my dog with me while I had a beer and a person with a dog walked in. My dog barked two-three times at the dog and did not bark again. I was told I needed to leave because "you're dog will not stop barking". The employee was rude and could clearly see I still had half a beer. The beer was good, the brewery is not dog friendly. I would not recommend if you want to bring your dog. read more

How have I not sung the praises of LMX yet?! We've been coming here pretty regularly for the last few months and apparently I've dropped the ball! Behold. The time has come. We love this place. It has become our new favorite watering hole. Let's talk about WHY. The interior is great. It's whimsical with a gorgeous reclaimed wood wall, fun horseshoe shaped bar, beautiful industrial lighting over the stage, and large garage doors that open up to create an indoor/outdoor space that shines. They usually have games available to play, a nice patio shaded by large trees and nice lighting at night. They bring in different food trucks 3 nights a week (Thu, Fri and Sat) and sometimes have live music. Come on! What more could you want?! OH YEAH - BEER! And honestly - it's all so good. My favorite? The Altbier. Literally GABF Award Winning Amber Albier. SO GOOD IN YOUR MOUTH. They have other creative beers - Peanut Butter Porter, tasty seasonal Saisons. My guy likes their Imperial Porter a whole heckuva lot. Really, you can't go wrong. Come and stay a while and try several!
