Decent enough stop for my intro to Upslope other than having the Brown ale from a can. It is located in a business/industrial park area in North Boulder with a couple of wine tasting bars as next door neighbors (next stop?!). A good mix of high top tables and bar seating over looking the production area. Had a $10 flight of the: Lager-decent a little citrusy Pale ale-excellent Blood orange saison-not my thing, a little bitter Brown Ale-my favorite IPA-not too hoppy so also very good Imperial IPA-too much for me. Really enjoyed our short visit here! The staff is very friendly, the beer is delicious, and they have a small outdoor seating area for you to use if you don't want to sit inside. My husband tried the Rocky Mountain Kolsch and I had the GuanaBana root beer. On a hot day, these both felt so refreshing and full of flavor. I also had a beef empanada that was so delicious I was sad we didn't leave nearby. This seems to be a place that's frequented by regulars, and that's my kind of tap room. This is also the location of the original brewery! If you have time, ask the staff about the origin stories of the beers you're drinking. It was a huge part of the experience for us! read more

This was a super cute little brewery was enough choices to make everyone happy! We did a beer flight and it was only $10 for 4! I pick 2 and my friend picked 2...mine were blue Hawaiian sour ale it was just how it sounds, to me the sour part was a bit much. My second one was juniper and lime and it was my favorite...it was not a strong heavy taste but a light beer to match its clear color! read more

Great brewery! The beer I had was tasty and crisp. It really hit the spot after a day of hiking and exploring Boulder. The employees were friendly, explained the selections very well, and overall made for a great time especially considering I was traveling solo. I went to both locations including the one in Denver, and both were great. Wish I lived in Colorado so I could visit Upslope again. I was pleasantly surprised that they had their beers in the liquor stores in Denver, and the one time I bought a six pack to bring home they were on a huge sale! Upslope has great beers. The two locations are different in feel, but share friendly staff members and tasty brews. Lee Hill has 14 taps and a cask tap as well. Try the different seasOnal beers like Spruce Tip IPA or any number of sours/goses. They also have some great seltzer's. Food trucks and live music add to the fun as do thee dart boards. read more

5 stars across the board for this brewery. This is their original location, so it is much much smaller then there newer location located not much further from it. My husband and I went on a Tuesday around noon, and there were only a few people in there at the time, the bartender was incredibly nice (I believe his name was Nate). He talked to us the whole time, letting us know some good places around boulder and Denver that we should see as we were traveling. What was also awesome is that you can do a flight of whatever how-many beers you would like to try, and they were a good size pour too! It was all ala-carte so you just pay per beer instead. I had their orange chocolate stout, the tea shandy and the grapefruit beer. Every single one of them was delicious, not a single one disappointed. Upslope gets added to my list of one of the best beers around. The brewery is in an unassuming storage warehouse row, there are vats and barrels in view from the tasting room, which is basically acts as a bar. There are restroom facilities, merchandise for sale, and self-serve drinking water station. They do not serve food but check their facebook page for a rotation of awesome pop-up food carts. To our luck, it was a BBQ food truck when we went - it was amazing (Meat Candies mmmmmmm!) - and deserves an review all on it's own. We tried the Imperial IPA (10% ABV) and Apple Cider Hybrid Ale (5%) for $13 with tip. The Imperial IPA is the smoothest and robust IPA we've ever had the pleasure of trying. So much so that we wanted to bring some home with us. Alas, they only have growlers and no crowlers (can growlers). They usually sell 6 packs of them but were out. In an unrelated sampling, we tried the limited release Thai Style White IPA (6.5%) with hints of ginger, lemongrass, and Thai basil. Such exotic flavor and definitely worth a taste if you are able to catch it in time. read more

This is my neighborhood brewery so I keep wanting to have a better experience, but every time I've been can be summed up like this: Great atmosphere; Decent (sometimes fantastic) beers; Inadequate (and/or poorly trained) service. Last night was my first time at Upslope in about 8 months or more. The taproom itself is spacious and fun - the energy is lively and having a lot of people in there doesn't feel crowded so much as bustling. The food is provided (in a not uncommon fashion) by food trucks parked outside, so depending on when you go you'll be able to get food to go with your drinks and the food trucks usually have some great stuff on the menu. The selection of beers is pretty big and it's VERY likely that you'll find one that will keep you happy and raving about Upslope for a while. The most important thing to note here is that they have all their beers including some limited edition brews you can't find outside of the tap room. So if you're a fan of Upslope beers you owe it to yourself to swing by here sometime and try a new brew. But the service. It's just so consistently disappointing. When we first moved here you couldn't get any table service whatsoever and they seemed perpetually understaffed. Last night we went there and there was a bartender and a server and things kept moving fairly quickly, which is why when she let us know that a big group just walked in (we were a group of 6) and she would have to suspend table service a for a while, I took the opportunity to say thanks. "Hey, I just wanted to say thank you for doing table service. I've been here a few times when you guys haven't done it and it's nice that you're doing it." At which point she interjected "Yeah you don't have to stand up and walk over to order." "Right. Well ... anyway, thank you." Later on I ordered another beer (I'd had several) and she replied "Well you guys have each had at least 4 so why don't I just get you a lager?" It's totally within an establishment's right to refuse service to a patron, especially when they think that person is inebriated. I've been through TIPS training so I would see cutting someone off as a responsible thing to do. But she didn't cut me off - instead she told me she'd get me a different beer than what I had ordered. In terms of service, that's just the wrong way to do it. If you think a patron has had too much to drink (and this is according to the training all servers have to take) you offer them water and food instead, not more alcohol. Of course like anything your expectations and preferences may be different, but my impression from Upslope over the last 4 years has been that they don't have enough staff and those they have need better training. Finally a reminder, this is a review of this Upslope location, not the beer. If you're in love with Upslope or trying out a few breweries around Boulder then you certainly shouldn't miss this place - you just might need to temper your expectations in terms of experience. read more

We popped in here during out house hunting trip last year, and it was really enjoyable. It's a cute little space in an industrial area, but they've done a nice job with the inside. The bar spans almost the whole length of the space, and there's high top tables along the wall/windows. We chatted with the bartender for a while about Colorado, and really enjoyed our conversation. I believe we also left with a growler. I'd say if you're in the area, or even if you're not but just want to visit a good place, stop in! read more

I love this place. If you love small micro breweries, this is the place. It is growing and expanding every time we go. They had a food truck outside now, and we could walk through the brewery as we drank our beer. So cool! Pints are about $4, and they have a great smokey IPA. The Rye IPA is also very good. Christmas ale, pumpkin ale, wild saison, wild Christmas, orange stout, cherry stout The wild saison was one of our favorites - great carbonation, white head, and tart finish. The pumpkin ale was very good also. Overall all the brews were enjoyable. The place was very lowkey on a Monday afternoon. Loved the brewhouse border collie - a very friendly pup that added to the relaxed atmosphere. We'd come back for the beer. read more

Hubs and I were looking for something fun to do yesterday. With so many breweries around, we chose one we hadn't been to before, Upslope. Tucked away in NoBo, this place is in a strip mall and can be a little tricky to find. With open minds, we entered the tap room. People seemed to be waiting around for something to happen and the ambiance of the place was lacking something. There was only one gal running the place and she seemed a bit flustered/disorganized. We inquired about the tour, as advertised on their website. Nope, apparently no tours today (which was apparently due to the lack of interest from the tour guide who was more interested in talking to his girlfriend than working). Well, we were there, and decided to try a flight of beers. For $11, you get a fair amount of beers and the whole array of what they offer (IPA, stouts, and seasonal). The beer for us was a fail--bitter, sour, and not pleasant at all (compared to similar sized microbreweries). I had to choke down my money's worth. Due to the false advertising of offering tours (when apparently it is done at whim) to the sour/bitter beer, this is one place we will not be coming back to. A pure waste of not so tasty time. read more

Nothing too spectacular about the tap room, but who cares when you consistently put out my favorite beers. Being one of my favorite three brewers, I jumped at the opportunity to give them a visit over Boulder Beer and Avery to name a few. The tap room is typical to those I've visited in and around Denver. Clean and friendly with a fish bowl view of where all the "magic happens". We got a prime spot at the bar and got try some seasonal ales that I never would have been able to without visiting. The Cabernet IPA was undoubtedly my favorite and why not when they source their barrels for this brew from BookCliff Vineyards right next door. If not for having an entire agenda for our day, I would have loved to have stayed the day through to see the live band that they had in store. Depsite being a bit off the map, they do a commendable job at bringing a Pearl St like atmosphere by bringing in these bands and food trucks. read more

Upslope never disappoints! They have a stack of games to play and two dart boards to keep you entertained while drinking some awesome beer. Their taster trays can get pretty ridic... We had 3 oz pours of every beer they had on tap (10 of them). So, don't expect to drive if you plan on downing the entire thing! They have Cured cheese & meat trays. There is also a food truck that hangs around outside. They are dog friendly. It gets pretty crowded in the tap room and they don't have an outdoor patio, but it's definitely one of my favorites! Also, they are one of the few breweries that offer 1 liter growlers. Their pale ale is awesome! read more

We sampled all of the offerings - a great variety of styles from which to choose. A few: Wit - bright, citrusy, clean. Pale Ale - I've judged a few pales in my time and found this one to be solid but did not find myself returning/revisiting it like others I was trying. The IPA is traditional and well-rounded with a good punch of malt to stand up to the heavy hops...but not overly sweet. Whiskey Barrel Stout - they are using a certain unnamed CO whiskey (starts with a S ends with a S) barrel to contain this beer. Roasty, oaky and a little sweet. Chocolate Cherry Stout - good tart-ish cherry finish w/ cocoa-nibs in the body. Don;t expect bon-bon sweet like Pumphouse's cherry stout, but still good in it's own. Barleywine!!!! OMG! Like grape-nuts & creme brulee!! Open on Sundays now, we were excited to finally stop in. Evidently there is a bit of nosh available of you need something to fill the cracks. I am only subtracting a star for the ambiance... The taproom seems unfinished as it is LOUD/echo-y and in need of some baffling - there were only 2 other parties of people visiting but I thought my ears were going to start bleeding from the screeches of the drunken harpie a couple of tables behind me. Great atmosphere, super friendly staff, and of course, some awesome brews. Best beer in Boulder, hands-down. Sorry Avery, nothing against you, but nothing beats Upslope's Brown Ale! Also, they now have the Belgian Pale Ale on tap (and in cans!), which is always a good decision. Another plus is that they are one of the only breweries in Boulder does growler re-fills. They're by no means cheaper than cans, but a great option to stock up on some of their single-batches. I'm definitely looking forward to the Flatiron Park location to open, but until then, it's still worth the drive to NoBo! read more

Upslope was great. Took my out-of-town friends on a bit of a brewery tour this weekend and Upslope was a highlight. In addition to their IPA and APA, they had a dunkelweiss, belgian dubble, and two others on draft. The tap room is small, cozy, and they had a bags set out front for people to play. I enjoyed our visit here. Ive had a few of the beers before but this was my first visit. The beers are good, the people were friendly, and we didnt pay too much for what we got. The location is pretty easy to get to and we had no problem parking. This IS a place i will return to at some point. The bad.... The tap room doesnt open until 2 pm, so no noon time lunch beers unfortunately. When we arrived right at opening the girl who was running the tap room (and very obviously busting her ass to try and get it open and running) was offered no assistance by the other 3 employees who were standing in the back just talking. Yay beer! Upslope has it going on! I only made it to this one location, when I drove out to the other one it was closed, but this one was really cool. I loved the wood decor and the large center bar with giant slabs hanging above with their vast beer list. The list was actually a bit overwhelming but I took a deep breath and made my choices. I ordered a sampler and tasted all their Ipa's and 1 chocolate stout. The thai ipa was interesting... Props for the experimentation, but I like my ipa's hoppier and less lemongrassy. The ipa was really good and then the christmas ipa was good but a little sour, great if you like sour beers. The chocolate stout fit the bill perfectly! It was creamy, chocolatey and stouty, my favorite beer of the day! read more

Pretty sweet time had here on a Saturday. The service was great, but we had to ask for a list of the samplers we were enjoying. He hand wrote it for us - lightest to darkest which is the typical order of enjoyment. Why not just list them in this order on the blackboard right behind the bar?!?!? The games were fun, board games and they had darts. They also gave a brewery tour which helped clear the congested tap room a little. And there is a view into the brewery from the tap room, which is always nice. The food truck VERDE was there, that was awesome! The place got pretty packed shortly after opening, but it was overall a great experience with some tasty brews. My suggestions include experimenting with some funky flavors and providing a list / visual guide for the samplers. read more

I can recommend Upslope taprooms for drinking their non-canned beers, they have some good stuff. So give them a chance, even if you're turned off by their lackluster can choices. I haven't really visited the North Boulder location, it's kinda obscure unless you live/work up there. They just opened a nice large location on Arapahoe. Perfect for hanging, having a group gathering or private gathering. It's also close enough to other tap rooms to make a day of it. read more

Locals kept telling me to check out Upslope and after sampling their Thai IPA last fall I was determined to visit their tasting room on my most recent trip to Boulder. My friend and I stopped in after work and immediately found space at the bar. Both of our beers were good and we really enjoyed the space--it's in an industrial area and was definitely nondescript from the outside, but I loved the interior and the window that allowed a peek at the viewing process. read more

Visiting from out of town I'm not certain this is the right location. The outside looked a little like an apartment building and, upon entering, the atmosphere was super well lit. Not in a good way. Was way too bright for ambience. All that aside the people were super friendly and the two beers I had were awesome. The Jalepeno beer was super spicey but once my palate got accustomed it wen't down well. I ordered 4 of the empanadas to go. Maybe it was the travel (not too long) that did it but they weren't really good. I expect my empandas to be firm but all of these were really doughy and it was difficult to tell one from the other as far as fillings. This was their only option so they clearly shouldn't be judged on their one food offering but this was a miss. I would absolutely come back for more beer but might ask them to turn the overhead lights off. read more

I really like this tap house. Their beer is some of my favorite around, and the prices here are awesome. Fun to hang out and have a few brews with your friends, and there is a food truck parked right outside on the busy evenings, so don't worry too much about food. read more

Got a flight here with my friend. We got six beers in our flight. They let us mix and match based on the types of beer we like. We liked most of them, one was a little too intense for our tastes. My favorite brewery of all breweries! They have the BEST pumpkin ale, a must try that is tapped straight from pumpkin itself! They guys who own the company are obviously passionate about their craft, as they explained their newer "project" beers with much enthusiasm- admitting it is not for profit, simply fun. However, I was luck enough to sample one of the projects and it has since found its place in my top ten. Hopheads welcome! read more

As much as I DETEST being in Boulder, I sure didn't mind parking my behind at Upslope after a day of gold panning! It's a small brewery, and easily missed if you're not keeping an eye out. It's about the size of a dive bar but nice and clean, almost industrial. I had the Tropical Stout which was brewed with plantains and I was so pleased! A nice chocolatey stout with soft banana hints. Creamy and delicious. The food truck of the day had a name that I can't recall but its main food was ramen. The whole menu was vegetarian...major score! I ordered the miso based ramen and shiitake stuffed rice balls. Both phenomenal and served up by a cute dreadhead. Can't beat that! read more

I am a true beer drinker. When you think of a Micro-Brew most of the time it is a hoppy mess. With UpSlope's beers they are really impressive. This a Micro-Brew that has great taste and a clean finish. Stopping by the Brewery is pretty cool. There is a tasting room which gets pretty busy. The staff is knowledgeable and you can tell they love Beer. I would highly recommend trying some Upslope. I hope they can eventually get some of the distribution out here in CA. read more
