READ ALL THE WAY THROUGH The experience here was highly disappointing. It is not my first time at Liquid Planet but it was new coming to this location. The customer service was less than stellar. My family and I was taking our time deciding on what we wanted and in the process of choosing we asked Chaslyn if the whip cream was made in house (btw the Liquid Planet in The Book Exchange does make the whip cream in house and it is delicious) once she was able to grasp the question we moved on to asking if the whip cream they use have carregan it was in that moment she grabbed the can and shoved it in my face and told me to look for myself (which it did have not wanted ingredient). Obviously, that is a BIG no! With that said there was regrouping involved due to what was desired was not available on the menu. In the meantime a family member went to take care of themself so we let her know that we would wait to order altogether since it was a shared purchase and moved away from the checkout area. It wasn't long after that she began to impatiently and rudely try to demand to take our order as if she had the right to dictate when, what and how we placed an order. It was incredibly low vibrational. We ended up getting a hot 12 ounce lavender latte with two extra pumps of lavender and three honey this turned out to be a tasty treat for our little one. I regretfully got a 24 ounce Italian soda (no cream) with dragonfruit and prickly pear syrup. Great flavors, awful choice! The soda was stale there was zero carbonated freshness, it tasted watery and there was no flavor to be found. I'm not going to lie I definitely felt robbed for a underwhelming and overpriced drink. My family member at that rate was to nervous to get anything from them between the already less than superior service and fifty/fifty chance that quality and the actual drink would be made right. During our visit my nephew wanted to check out the downstairs area. He check to see if there was a sign that stated if he couldn't explore that area and at the time there was none. Chaslyn verbally disciplined my kid nephew. Naturally, my mom kindly and firmly corrected her and let her know to notify his adult family members (as she was aware who he belonged to and that we were in plain sight of keeping track of him) if there were any off limit spaces that she would not like for customers to go into. She was respectful in her response and apologetic and in that regard I appreciate her being mindful after she was communicated with. For future reference it would be wise to put a sign there letting customers know that it's an off limits area as we to as adults we're headed in that direction to check it out because it is apart of the store and not clarified as not being an available space to view for customers. Okay, now as for the store itself this place is PERFECT! Honestly, there is so much space. A great deal of seating areas with a plethora of plugs. Not to mention a book nook for families and friends alike. There is a ton of fabulous art to review and even look into making a purchase! Ultimately, although the initial quality of this visit was below subpar I do believe that the staff whom we met and this space can truly thrive if Chaslyn focuses on finding new techniques on how to interact with customers without projecting her personal frustrations so that she does not come across passive aggressive. I am taking into consideration that perhaps she really is a nice kid and was just having a bad day. So I'll say this... I would give this place another go and would recommend it but bring your patience and willingness to communicate with employees if your drink turns out to be unpleasant due to lack of quality. read more

In town visiting family and came across this coffee shop while waking around downtown. We loved it. We got two of the Honey Pistachio cold foam cold brews (soooooo good! Highly recommend) and two of the honey lavender lattes (honey was great tasting but the lavender was just a little too strong, made it sweeter than I like but it was still a great latte) Vibes were good. Customer service was ehhhh okay. Not the friendliest but not unfriendly. Would 100% recommend this place though. Seemed like a good spot too if you're a local to sit and work on school or what not. Love their for-here mugs and jars! Amazing work space w/ ample outlets, and friendly staff :) I also really like that they don't just give you a straw when serving your drink. A great coffee house in downtown Missoula! Stopped in one afternoon for a snack and left completely satisfied. We had heard that they stock a certain local gluten free donut (doctor's orders for us) and we went a hunting! It was later in the afternoon so they didn't have quite the selection left (understandable) but still had some yumminess to chose from. The dough was made with applesauce, so the donuts were super heavy and dense (not the best, but still good and about the only choice for GF donuts). I had a delicious chocolate cherry one, while my wife had a plain chocolate one. The cherry topping made it for me; I could live without the plain chocolate one. Drinks were great! Had a plain pour over decaf and a mocha. Great fresh tasting beans that made for an overall great coffee & donuts experience! They also had alcohol available and we got a bottle of bubbly to celebrate a special event. Friendly staff and good customer service around! Driving through on our way to Virginia we stopped in here for a quick bite to eat and some coffee for the road. Due to time restrictions we took our coffees and breakfast panini with us. When we both got back into the truck and took a sip from our coffees we both nearly spit them out. Both were disgustingly chalky and grainy to the point of being inedible. Our panini was extremely freezer burnt as well. Unfortunately, we had to get on the road and couldn't go back in. Super disappointed in this place and a terrible start to the morning. read more

Wanted a smoothie and maybe a small breakfast sandwich/burrito. Found liquid planet online and walked there from my AirBnb which is in the 500 block of E Pine St. After a quick walk I walked into the warm and inviting place. My order was swiftly taken and the customer service was awesome; even asked me what I was up today! I sat down with my smoothie, which was delicious! The breakfast burrito hit the spot. I watched the barista interact with her customers in such a pleasant way. She clearly had an established relationship with many of the people that came in; remembering the orders all the way down to how many sugars. Very impressed by her attitude and work ethic. Coffee was 6/10. I really like the staff there otherwise I would rate it lower. It's a really cool vibe and super spacious.

Service was good. Matcha was terrible. I said unsweetened and they said they have vanilla and honey add so I said only honey.. I don't know if the honey was the problem or the amount of honey but drinking the matcha was like drinking crystallized sugar milk. I could barely drink half, I threw out the rest. Plus, the color was not the vibrant color of matcha and I felt the matcha taste was not earthy like a true Japanese matcha. It tasted doctored. The best part of Liquid Planet is the decor! The World Maps create expectations of awesomeness. However, the setting in the back is a bit odd. Perhaps it would be good for a book club or church group meeting, but it's not really hip or exciting. I usually love liquid planet, and drink local every shot I get. I am also a creature of habit and get the same drink everywhere. A double americano with white chocolate, and white coffee if they have it. At liquid planet my drink cost 3.50, (2.50 for the americano, .50 for the flavor, .50 for the white coffee) imagine my shock when the barista charged me 4.25. When I asked him about it he told me that I must have been getting the white coffee for free. Ummm....? So when I asked him for a breakdown and he couldn't give me one, I kindly did the math for him off the menu. He didn't say anything, but proceeded to THROW the quarters in my direction. WHAT?!? I get it, people make mistakes, work for tips, and it's only .75 we are talking about but really?!? Being nasty and throwing a tantrum isn't going to encourage me to tip. After this wonderful experience I called corporate to talk to a manager, the customer service guy was sorry and said a manager would call me. This all happened Wednesday AM. As of Saturday I have heard not a peep. I'm very disappointed in a local Missoula institution. In a town where there are local coffee shops on every corner I don't need to dodge change to get a caffeine fix. I can offer you this piece of advise, know how much your drink cost, and questions are not appreciated. read more

Sum up: Great coffee. Large variety. Sell a lot of cool items. Limited seating. Pros: They have a unique selection of coffee flavors and many different types of coffees, teas and drinks. Several things about LP are worth mentioning: The flagship store on Higgins is open much later into the evening than other coffee shops nearby, like Catalyst or Le Petit Outre (a bakery/espresso bar). It's similar to Caffe Dolce insofar as you can find great coffee, tea, as well as wine, but the food selection is more limited. There is a leather couch and comfy chair section - think Central Perk from "Friends" - but mainly the space is used for displaying items to purchase, from teapots (I love my stainless steel 1.0 L model, very Bauhaus in styling) to Riedel wine glasses to coffee beans, cocoa, and tea - fairly traded and organic, in keeping with the liberal humanitarian philosophy of LP's professorial founding father. If you love rooibos, peppermint, and cocoa nibs, then you will be in 7th heaven with LP's Chocolate Safari (Rooibos with Peppermint & Cocoa Nibs). I get 1/2 lb. portions and brew batches at home. It's a fantastic fuel for winter snowshoeing and xcountry ski trips when stored piping hot in a Nissan silver bullet thermos. So, when you're sinking into 100 inches of Bitterroot powder snow while watching the full moon rise over Lolo Pass (this is how we roll around here), you can take the thermos from your backpack and suddenly the steam and smells of peppermint and chocolate and roiboos are all around you, enveloping you in its seductive and sensuous embrace. I really don't know how these folks can afford to keep the rent on a large historic space in downtown Missoula. Anyone who knows their brew (coffee, tea, or spirits) and knows Zootown could tell you about a hundred zillion better places to go to get what cooks your goose. I've all but stopped going since they stopped making crepes "to focus on sandwiches and salads." Lame! But it is the only place (outside of restaurants) to get a good Thai iced tea or coffee, or anything served from an ibrik. They are pretty good about competitive coupons, though! read more

I only had a latte - not much to weigh a menu on. I guess it was fine. The booths in the back have several with burned out lights. I could not see my laptop keyboard it was so dark (good thinking again on my taking that "no look" typing class back in the '70's). There is a total lack of wall plugs. They have power strips and extension cords laying on the floor. Had this place been In the Nanny-State of California, the local fire department would have shut this fire/tripping hazard down a long time ago. read more

My partner and I love Liquid Planet! The staff is always super friendly, the atmosphere is welcoming, and the prices are reasonable. They have a huge coffee syrup selection, and all of their coffee and tea is organic. The staff is also amazing with their drink recommendations if you happen to be indecisive! I would say the only downside is sometimes it takes a while to get our food and drinks... but it is always well worth the wait! Excellent local coffee house. The morning staff makes consistently fantastic lattes, devise hilarious daily trivia questions, and they're just plain funny and friendly people--some of the best food service in town, frankly. One of the best iced caramel lattes I've ever had the pleasure to drink was made here. Foodwise, they get pastries in from Le Petite Outre (in Missoula) and cakes and cookies from A Place to Ponder (in Hamilton). They specialize too in crepes and now serve sandwiches. Relaxing atmosphere with good music playing in the background. Tea selection is huge. There are couches in the back and bar tables in the front to observe folks walking by on the street. Excellent wi-fi with the front and back areas separate so it doesn't get overloaded. Really interesting things to buy in the shop area including wine accessories, coffee mugs, and great small gifts if you need something to bring to a party. Gone is the wine. The retro blue seats are not comfy. It's not even slightly gritty like the last location that was almost like a bar substitute. The clientele is just as conventional now. It's way too bright. I miss the bar booths. It used to be really gay. I don't even see coffee beans to purchase. This is what happens when you completely change when nothing was broken. It's not the greatest coffee in Missoula, but it's definitely the best workspace with free wi-fi in town for students or on-the-road business types. They've got a decent collection of wine, beer and coffee-making gadgets. Most importantly, though, the staff here are awesome. Last week I'd ordered a bagel toasted with cream cheese. When it hadn't been brought to my table after maybe 5 mins, I walked back up to the counter to check progress. The young woman who'd taken my order was just plating it. She smiled and said, "I'm so sorry -- I get distracted easily. I'm like -- SQUIRREL!" Then she handed me my plate and checked back later to make sure all was good.
