I was in love with Drum Coffee before I even set foot through the door. The shop was recommended to us by a friend from LA that lives in Missoula now for school and did some researching of my own only to find out that the drummer from the Fitz and the Tantrums and his wife own this shop. Their homemade chai has quite a reputation and I was eager to try it but when we arrived they had run out that morning and were in the midst of making more. Sad as that may be, I have such an appreciation for scratch making syrups and a pit fall of homemade products is that sometimes you run out and that's okay. Instead I ordered an almond milk latte and a cardamom snickerdoodle cookie. The almond milk latte was perfection but I wasn't crazy about the clear glass it was served in--made it difficult to hold and reminded of Coffee Bean's old school for-here cups. No bueno. The cookie was out of this world. It was the size of hand and it was sweet, spice, and everything nice. One of the best cookies I've ever had. As if I wasn't already in love, I perused their whole bean selection and they have a variety called 'Fresh pots!' with a drawing of Dave Grohl. I don't need to explain this--either you get it for you don't. Love ya'll Drum Coffee! Keep doing what you're doing! read more

Super chill coffee spot in the middle of a quiet neighborhood. Funky, blue building with a deck and pretty trees in keeping with neighboring homes makes it feel cozy and neighborly. Music is LP albums played from a turntable, which was cool. I opted for a macchiato (wow, it was Very Very dark - almost too much) and pumpkin babka to celebrate the change of season. The babka was bready with no pumpkin spice flavor at all, so it was a bit of a disappointment. It was nice to have both white and turbinado sugar syrups available (the second time I returned the turbinado was missing). I returned a couple days later and had a latte which was very tasty, hot, and well made. The service crew was friendly and helpful, and the vibe was nice. Drum has its own bean blends, packaged in easily identifiable, brightly designed bags which I saw around town for sale in various small markets. Smart marketing, Drum! As an aside: I love buying cool, locally branded tshirts and sweatshirts as travel souvenirs. As an out-of-town customer I was intrigued by the branding designs and interested in a Drum Coffee zip up hoodie, but found the $52 price tag steep. Also, the shirt design did not identify "Missoula, Montana" as Drum's home, which would have enticed me to buy one despite the price as a memory of my visit. I realize this has nothing to do with the quality of the coffee, nor should it. But, they sell branded stuff and so those are my thoughts. ;-D read more

This is my first review of a coffeehouse outside of this universe. I have toured the great coffeeshop cities of Portland and Seattle and Los Angeles. I have discovered hidden coffeeshop gems in unexpected places and the middle of nowhere USA. I have made pilgrimage to the great Kiva Coffeehouse reigning humbly over the beautiful rock canyons of Escalante. But now. But NOW! ...I find myself dumbstruck by a coffeehouse that doesn't belong to our time and place. And that is because it belongs so terribly more than anything else. Drum satisfies all high expectations, and then it does not stop. It goes further than that. And one discovers more and more of it--each new piece more unbelievable than the last. Because there is no visible mock-up of the standard of perfection, we can only base it off of the greatest thing we experience. I have never been able to believe this about a coffeehouse before, but Drum Coffee is the perfect coffeehouse. Everything may be subjectively relative, but Drum has gone so above and beyond what is expected or possible that I can comfortably call it the perfect coffeehouse, for the sake of comparison. Getting down to brass tacks... * The food and pastry's are daily baked in house. * The coffee is a locally roasted signature Drum blend that made mentally double-take. It warrants a whole review of its own. * The whole place is so clean and bright and fresh and cozy. * The ambience is friendly and energetic and comfortable. Beautiful tiling, furnishings and fixtures. * The architecture itself is simple and genius. So much sunlight. * The barista, Kendra is the top one percent of the top one percent of humanity. What a wonderful, positive, vital person! She is passionate about Drum an has a lot of interesting things to say about it! Great conversations. If Drum were a lesser coffeehouse I would return JUST to see Kendra again. * The location is perfect. In the middle of a neighborhood. I am now a returning customer forever. Drum is my new favorite thing. Visiting Drum Coffee left me with an impression similar to driving through the Going to the Sun Road in Glacier National Park. I'm left with the mental impression that something beautiful and grand has just occurred. read more

Awesome little cafe! In a great neighborhood with ample parking and good accessibility. They have lots of outdoor seating as well, which makes a great place on a sunny day! In addition to the full espresso bar menu, they have a light lunch options and also a few pastries. Service was So friendly and helpful! I was refreshed by the kindness of the gal who took our order. The quality of the coffee was good (although they were out of cold brew when we were there). We got a couple iced americanos and a latte - all of which were good! I am visiting from Phoenix and wanted to try some of the local coffee, and I was not disappointed at Drum!! They have oat milk, which is my favorite, so that was a nice surprise. As it was my first time in, I asked the baristas which pastry was their favorite and they recommended the Olive Oil Loaf! It wasn't overpowering or dense and it almost melted in my mouth. I also ordered an 8oz oat milk cappuccino for here and the espresso they use is delicious! I asked the barista what beans they used for it and he gave me a quick and detailed answer. I was pleased to hear they roast their beans locally and have such a good variety! I am a barista back home and we roast our beans locally too, so I thought it was cool. Love the ambience inside and the overall vibes of the establishment. There isn't much seating, but there's enough to sit and enjoy a cup of quality coffee and get some work done! Love this place! I travel quite often and when I heard about the baked goods and good brew I tried it out. The staff was great, a super welcoming environment and the olive oil cake was to die for!! I am not much of a coffee drinker so I was pleased to find that they do offer chai. It was perfect, exactly the way a chai should be. Nice and spicy and not made of simple syrup like most coffee houses do. You can tell that they take care in everything they do there. The space is beautiful. I came to Drum for their "soft opening" mostly to check out the new place close to my office. I was not disappointed! The atmosphere was great, and I'm sure as they get on their feet it will continue to improve! I ordered an espresso macchiato and was very pleased with the balance their "Drum Coffee" blend had. Black Coffee Roasting roasted a special blend for them that is a mix of the BCRC Black and Tan with an Ethiopian bean added to change it up a bit. Additionally, they have a donation system where each trip in you can select a local charity to donate to. This is a great local coffee shop in a nice neighborhood that seems invested in their community. I can't wait to see what they will grow into and I will definitely be back! read more
