Customer service staff in store is horrible. (although online is better) I've been there numerous times and I've also ordered multiple times online. Went to the store today and had a question at the service desk. There were three employees working and I was completely ignored. After waiting about five minutes to be acknowledged, I asked if I was invisible. One person reluctantly looked up from his phone. The other guy was walking around the store on his phone. The third employee, the cashier just stared blankly. And this isn't the first time. Each time where I've had to ask a question at the front desk, it's like I'm a bother by being there. And when I in store, or pick up an order online, the cashier just stares blankly, doesn't interact, and is completely unfriendly. It's like they're doing you a favor by answering a question or checking you out. I've only continued to go there because sometimes they have some good bottles, or good sales, but not worth it to have to deal with the rude and unfriendly employees. I had a bottle of Weller Special Reserve in my cart that I was waiting to buy until I knew when I'd be able to pick up. I received an email Saturday that they were offering it on sale at $35.99 that day only. Within less than a minute of getting the email, I went to my cart and the discount was not showing. I tried for a couple of days then reached out to them. They said that supposedly every bottle at that "limited price" had sold out within seconds of the email being sent. That must be a world record for response rate since they were gone in less than the 30-45 seconds it took me to open the link from said email. read more

MAIL ORDER: Ordered some difficult-to-find expensive rums but they shorted me one bottle. They didn't notify me nor refund me. I contacted them after I realized the one bottle was missing but had to jump through several hoops and checklists and send 5 photos of everything only for them to realize they were short on stock and the packer didn't properly alter my order and refund me for the missing bottle. Look, I already have a mile-long list of chores consuming my life. Why do I have to waste my precious little spare time chasing down these people and compensating for their incompetence? Every other store I've ordered from has altered my order and refunded me without any intervention on my part. Their job is to fulfill orders properly and they can't even do that. read more

The manager at this location is one of the rudest employees I have ever encountered. Dude needs some serious anger management. He berates and yells at his customers if they ask a question he doesn't like. Never seen anything like it before. Still in shock at crazy, unwarranted scene he made today when a customer asked for a bottle that was behind the counter. That's none of your business, don't look at my shelves behind the counter, you should have come in yesterday if you really wanted this particular bottle- etc and so on. While they have a good selection, I've been quite displeased with my online ordering experience twice in a row now, as well as rude customer service. My most recent order was for my brother's 40th birthday party. Their off-brand delivery service, Spee-dee only shows one attempted delivery in tracking (when everyone was home). They returned the order to the store. Not only did my brother did not get his big birthday gift, their customer service by e-mail and phone was both quite rude and quite unhelpful. I was told that surely the delivery service had attempted to deliver twice. After the first missed delivery my brother and his wife sat at home the entire next day and nothing. The customer service agent wouldn't even pull up the tracking number. I was ultimately told I could pay again for shipping (after missing the birthday) or get a refund minus shipping. The previous order was plagued with a long back and forth where the stock on the website seemed to have nothing to do with what they actually had. I'd highly recommend avoiding this business. Bad customer service and an off-brand delivery partner made for my gift not arriving for my brother's birthday. read more

MAIL-ORDER REVIEW: They've a lot of hard to find items, the prices are fair. It took two weeks to ship, after ten days they notified me of an out of stock item, which was then satisfactorily subbed. The delivery itself took one day. The packing was excellent, I imagine they get no broken bottles, but I still recommend the shipping insurance. Also, I ordered a lambic gift set with a glass, but they sent the regular item, both are the same price; acceptable but unusual. I deducted one star for the wait and the missing gift item. If you've a problem with an order, I suggest you politely and proactively contact them via chat, phone, and email then have a little patience as they're slow to respond. Stopped by for the first time today in order to restock and was extremely impressed at the size of the store, the cleanliness and the selection. They have a wide variety of wines, beers, hard liquors and seltzers, chilled or on the shelf. For any questions and suggestions on drinks, or if you don't find the specific beverage that you are looking for, the staff is very friendly and always open to helping. Just ask! Prices are also very competitive and their frequent sales lead to unheard of prices. I found all the drinks that I want plus some more that I am excited to try. Those drinks are: - high noon tropical variety pack - lulz smoothie - untitled art - rekorderlig TLDR; the seltzer selection is top notch. Very excited to try the smoothies. read more

Also love that you can sample the store picks before you buy!!! The staff is always super helpful and friendly and even turned us onto some tequilas we didn't know we loved! I've been a fan of liquor barn for years but they really outdid themselves with this new store! It is larger and nicer than any store I've been at, much better than binnys. They have every drink I could think of here at great prices. Came in looking for kosher wine and they were able to help me right away find a bunch of options. I will definitely be back! read more

Wow! Really an amazing find, visited family in Vernon Hills last weekend. Made a post on Facebook to point me in the right direction of finding few dessert wines, rum and bourbon. All recommendations pointed to the liquor barn and wow, I feel like I went through a toys r us if of wine and liquors. Found few bottles that I've never seen state side but what really blew me away was the customer service. WOW!!! LB Vernon Hills has it all!!! I used to love their wheeling location and would make the drive, but this new store is gorgeous. The staff is able to assist with any request I had and the prices were definitely right. I was throughly impressed and will be sharing my content with my friends. After repeated attempts to get in touch with someone and leaving a message, I contacted PayPal and started a resolution enquiry. All of a sudden I get a phone call saying that they were waiting on more stock. THEY THEN TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD NOT SHIP MY ORDER UNTIL I WITHDREW THE ENQUIRY. BLACKMAIL.... REALLY???? Definitely a great craft beer selection. Best selection of hop butcher around, and at fair prices. Whiskey selection is well.... Very average. A ton of no name brands, but nothing particularly good. Also staff is not very friendly. read more

This is a welcome site as Vernon Hills has been without a "liquor store" in decades. A very nice selection of wine and spirits at a competitive price. Lots of help and the crew seems like they are getting use to their nice store. Experience counts so I won't judge them during their learning period though I would say they are trying and they are getting better as they expand into our area. read more
