I get really impatient when I have to wait for the M train here. I usually wait at the front of the platform by cars 1 and 2 to Queens and you can just see the BQE highway below the train station with lots of traffic. The platform is also literally next to a billboard and you can just literally jump off the platform onto the billboard! Train station is above ground so you can see the Williamsburg bridge and BQE highway. Many new sky rises all over Williamsburg too that you can see from the train station. The bad thing about this station is that there are no elevators so it suck's to carry a baby stroller up and down the stairs. So unfortunate! They just recently install turnstiles at the end of the platform so you can swipe there instead of going to the middle of the platform.

Even more amazing, it was just $25 for two riders for almost door to door service. Perfect when you are moving books, kitchen supplies and clothes from Brooklyn back to Houston while Southwest Airlines still has two bags for free. (This changes tomorrow!) Book the shuttle on the UBER app. Pick up is at the corner near the Atlantic Terminal. Scan the QR code and then you are on your way. So easy and so convenient. While we were waiting, we met a lady also waiting for the UBER airport shuttle. For one rider, it is just $15. What a bargain!

This elevated station has two side platforms and three tracks. This subway station has been updated modernized and contains simple architecture keeping with function and operational rather than beauty and ornate. My style is traditional, but I do believe individuals and society must adapt with changing times for updated modernization - at least keep it classic and simple which this subway station maintain. The entrance/exit kiosk is modern, but a classic and very simple appeal glass-and-steel canopies with no lavish modern awnings. The artwork for the station, titled "Perasma I and II; Dappleganger," by Stephen Westfall installed in 2018 consists of 47 laminated glass mural panels in the mezzanine, each with geometric designs. It allows color and natural sunlight to be emitted.

"These twelve mosaics, collectively known as "The Greenwich Village Murals," show some of the interesting and diverse history of the Greenwich Village neighborhood surrounding this station. They were created by ceramic artist Leo Grozwol in collaboration with fifth and six grade students from a local school (Public School 41)." "The murals are divided into four sets of three murals each, with the following subtitles: Bohemians, Founders, Providers, and Rebels. There is a key for each set of murals on the wall nearby, helping visitors to identify each person featured in the murals." Wow, learn something new every day. This station is always busy, serviced by the 7th Avenue Local Line 1 train and also 2 when it runs local at night, however unfortunately MTA has no immediate plans to make it accessible with ADA compliant upgrades. That being said, in 1994 MTA installed tile mosaic murals designed by P.S. 41 students guided by artist and Lower East Side social worker Lee Brozgol - a work that captures the rich historic figures that shaped not only the West Village, but many whose influence extended throughout the U.S. and globally. "The Greenwich Village Murals" include 4 three-panel groupings, arranged by the impact of these important figures: Founders, Providers, Bohemians, and Rebels. Definitely worth checking it out!

I'm not sure why we decided "lunch in the Village" was such a great idea but here we are. The station is quite clean (at least the level where we were) and signage was decent. A little loud, perhaps. But clean and well lit for 2pm on a weekday. The station is handicapped accessible, which is nice. There are two levels with tracks (A/C/E on the B2 level, B/D/F/M on the lower B4 level) and two mezzanine levels, one for the fare control and the other is for connecting between platform levels. It's modern, clean, bright, and much more spacious than the original Penn Station. There are comfortable waiting areas for Amtrak passengers, great restaurants, and unique shops to browse while you wait. The entire station feels more organized and much less stressful. Penn Station is still the main hub for New Jersey Transit, the Long Island Rail Road, and other commuter trains. It has plenty of restaurants and food options, but it's definitely showing its age. It's extremely busy, especially during rush hours, with people constantly rushing, weaving through crowds, and trying to catch trains. It can feel hectic and overwhelming if you're not familiar with it. Overall, while Penn Station gets the job done, Moynihan Train Hall offers a much more enjoyable travel experience. If I have a choice in the future, I'll definitely choose Moynihan whenever possible.

Penn Station and Moynihan Train Hall are not my stomping grounds - I commute to the city from…read moreWestchester and work on the east side so GCT is more my jam. However, I was taking the Amtrak to DC and as such, needed to embark out of Moynihan. I haven't taken the Amtrak since it embarked from NYC out of Penn - and I gotta say this is a complete upgrade. Penn is old, ugly, and depressing - the complete opposite of Moynihan. The main hall is grand, with beautiful fixtures, super high ceilings, well kept finishings, and an overall bright aesthetic. Getting around is relatively easy - there are signs everywhere indicating where to go. To pass time, there's a decent amount of shops in the hall, and a large food hall several options. Despite Moynihan being an overall positive, I do feel there are opportunities to increase train time signage. They were not in the most ideal places, especially in the ticketed waiting area. Speaking of the waiting area, it was decently sized but I think the seats could have been a smidge more comfortable. Despite my critiques, Moynihan Train Hall is an overall yes - I was super impressed. There's no question this is an upgrade to commuting out of Penn, and wouldn't hesitate to take the Amtrak out of here in the future.

The Cloisters is a few minutes away up the big hill. Choose either of the Dyckman stations that are here. It serves the A Train. The other one is for the1 Train. Basically this is the nicer one. Mostly clean and safe which is what you want in a station. Also has a great location. Has a whole lot of cafes and restaurants. It's the next to last stop on the A. The 190th Street station is before it. The 207th Street station is after it. Also there's Fort Tryon Park close by. It's one of the big parks around here. The Cloisters is the main attraction here and is what brings most people up this way.
