This station doesn't get too crowded during rush hours and the crowds are generally friendly. This is an Oyster Bay line station, that means the trains are few and far between. If you miss your train be prepared to wait. There is no taxi stand nearby to save you.

Ticket machines at every level. It shows the next train coming in. I didn't see any ground crew but I'm sure there's an info booth somewhere. Signs and labels to direct passengers. Pretty straightforward. Looks like all gates are digital. Scan and code and enter. There are indoor waiting areas at the platforms which is very practical during cold weather.

In the spirit of fairness, the long-awaited has few rivals in ambition. Like the Barclays station, it uses a complex transit engineering paradigm that I call "diagonals." Compared to that Brooklyn hotspot, its existence battles against more car addicts who have elected transit-hating governors of both parties. Certainly it simplifies Metuchen to Montvale commutes. There are nice touches like a site-specific art, but also intentional steps to make it less convenient. The bizarre gate system requires you to swipe your ticket through intermittently working scanners, increasing the likelihood of missing a train. On one occasion, when NJT mishaps would have left me waiting at Broad St. for maybe two hours, I was refused entry at Secaucus, the worker treating me as if I was trying to get into the Limelight in the 80s while wearing a Kohl's shirt. Do I rate this station on being less depressing than Newark Penn although with worse retail options? Do I applaud it for being better than nothing? Two stars for now, maybe I'll revise if the governor shows more interest in transit than in tweeting about whether it's called pork roll or Taylor ham.

Given the number of people that get on and off this stop, it's probably a solid candidate for an express stop some day. (#1) For the unfamiliar, the 46th Street stop is among the majority of stops that are above ground. For folks waiting at the station, it has some of the best views of the Manhattan skyline and unless there are stalled trains, it's never all that crowded. Another fun tidbit is that this is actually the last stop along Queens Blvd before the train turns onto Greenpoint Ave (#2) toward Woodside. Folks who want stay awhile will find that there are a number of eateries just outside of the station. It isn't the most exciting stop by any means and could probably use a facelift (#3). On weekends, there is often something going on at the street level side of the station. Just another reason why Sunnyside is worth checking out always. ____________ (#1) Who are we kidding? Flushing bound folks love that LIC to Woodside ride. If 74th Street - Jackson Heights can't have it, then neither can Sunnyside. The best thing about it is the view of Manhattan. Omfg. It's stunning, especially at night. The subway station to end all subway stations. Well not really but it is really cool because it's close to my favorite pizza in the whole of New York City, and it's a pretty safe station that gives you access to the overground train that cross is Queensboro Bridge. It's also close to Jackson Heights where some of the best food in the country is. Not to mention the halal cart open late right next to the stop. And that view.

First, as a first-time user, I felt it was easy to navigate and I felt safe and comfortable traveling around the city. Second, it is gritty, worn, and a bit rundown in appearance and upkeep. It works, but I felt like I needed to be careful touching anything. The smells (urine, weed, unwashed masses) can be off-putting at times during busier times, but I wasn't too shocked. I felt the cost with regards to time and money was a great value to get to where we wanted to go. I wouldn't hesitate to use it again.

It's a small, bare-bones station at the halfway point of the Port Washington line (that still, thankfully, lets you get off on any car). You won't see a great many people getting off and on, except during rush hour. If I could make a change, it would be to either make the glass shelter temperature-controlled like at some other stations, or extend the roof to the length of the entire platform. As it stands, because the tracks are elevated, you're going to feel the full brunt of the weather in the Summer and Winter. Minor inconveniences aside, this is still a decent station.

I have sometimes thought of Greenpoint as "far" but a jaunt from Midtown via Court Square delivers impressive metrics when compared to the more obvious (to me) Williamsburg route. You get two great tastes here, the "classic" subway look of the G and E and the outdoor views of the 7.

Yes you do need…read moreto pay more at the turnstile from the Sutphin Blvd train station to connect yourself to the air train. You got to pay with the cash value metro card and not the unlimited. Anyways, the air train is like a bullet train and zooms and curves a lot above ground from terminal to terminal. There are 8 terminals at JFK so you got to make sure you read the signs on the train and get off at the correct terminal. Limited seating on the air train but there's a lot of space to stand with your luggage.

The Airtrain Jamaica station is one of two air train stations that connects the NY subway system…read moreinto the airtrain station, which will take one into JFK airport. The cost (2026) is $8.75 for a one-way trip and is paid at this station (upon exit if coming from the airport, and upon entry if going to the airport). The station now accepts tap-to-pay (using any tap enabled credit card) to pay for your toll (just like the subway system). The cost is not a part of the $35 7-day rolling cap for using the subway system Trains from this station run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and we found the cars to be modern and well air conditioned, though it doesn't have luggage racks and not much seating, so good chance what one would be standing with their luggage. It took about 20 minutes one-way from Terminal 4 to this station. The station lets you off at the upper level, thus requiring an escalator to get to ground level. From there , one needs to take a street-level open-air walk (maybe 5 min) to get to NY subway station 'Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Airport' (servicing E, J, Z subway lines). We reversed direction when going back to the airport after our trip, getting to Sutphin by taking the E train, and then walking on the sidewalk to get back here. From there, one pays the $8.75 toll to enter and go upstairs to catch the airtrain. Once on the train, one can get to all active airport terminals and Federal Circle stop (rental cars, hotel shuttles). It took the same 20 minutes to get to Terminal 4, once on the train. The other Airtrain station is Howard Beach. That train also stops at active terminals (1, 4, 5, 7, 8) and services Federal Circle, Lefferts Blvd (long term parking and local NYC buses) and Howard Beach Station (connection to NYC subway A Train). We found that both the A and E subway lines will connect you into Manhattan, but E seems to be a bit faster.
