I asked about the flu shot and they didn't have them in, but to keep checking up on it. I knew what happened last year so I decided to just go to Meijers. Crazy how Meijers has the flu shots, but not a pediatricians office! I was able to get my 8 and 5 year old flu shots at Meijers. I had an appointment with my doctor and asked if my 3 year old could get the flu shot. He could, but he wasn't a patient at their practice. So, I called here today 9/6/19 to see if they had them in yet. She said they do not have the flu clinic yet, but they are giving it to patients that are already in the office or are coming in with an illness. I said I was there two weeks ago and wasn't given on and she said the shots are sporadic. So, if you have the shots in right now, its should be first come, first serve. You shouldn't be denying a kid a flu shot! I'm considering taking my 3 kids to a different pediatricians office

I really wanted to have…read morea special pregnancy and birthing experience -- I firmly believe that childbirth is not a sickness, and that hospital births take a lot away from this very amazing time. I was unhappy with U of M, and decided to try New Moon Midwifery, whose office is in the building where I was taking my holistic childbirth classes. I could not have possibly had a better pregnancy and birthing experience. I worked with Amanda and Merrilynne, and a few apprentices. My pre-natal care was very loving and one-on-one. I did not feel like a number. I had at-home visits. They answered all my questions and concerns and then some. I originally planned to have a waterbirth, but my son was born too quickly (within three hours) so there was no time! There was some overlap in my health care between U of M and New Moon. I could really tell the difference in attitudes. With New Moon I was really given a good view from both sides -- I wasn't just given the worst-case-scenario treatment. For instance, when I tested positive for Group B strep and U of M said that I would automatically have to go on anti-biotics in the hospital, New Moon sat down with me and went through all of the facts regarding Group B strep and allowed me to make my own decision. Amanda was there when I was in labor and I was so comfortable and felt so safe. Being able to give birth at home with people I trusted and loved made the experience bearable. I also loved vocalizing and not having to do that Lamaze stuff -- I seriously don't know how I could have survived contractions doing Lamaze, the vocalizations I created on my own was a huge coping strategy. I can't begin to tell you how happy my experience was and how good it was for my baby! After I gave birth I took an amazing herbal bath and healed all my wounds quickly, and my son also took these herbal baths and his umbilical cord fell off in only two days! He he printed out that list and brought it with us to the offices -- I thought it would be embarrassed by it, but now I know it showed we meant business! We wanted to find someone who would consult with us and respect our decisions on vaccinations and antibiotics. We wanted to veer on the homeopathic side of care whenever possible. We wanted someone who respected the fact that our son was born at home with a midwife. It was hard to find all of this in a pediatrician, but in a family doctor, Dr. Scheerer was the It man. Dr. Scheerer is accomodating, I don't feel like a sardine in a tin can in his waiting room, he sits with you and really listens to your concerns. He knows his holistics but is also affiliated with St. Joe's, so you get the best of both worlds. He supports breastfeeding. He looks like he was in a rock band once, but has pictures of his family on a slideshow screensaver. Also, since he's a family doctor, he can take care of the whole fam. He sees babies every day, so we felt comfortable to have our son under his care. His staff remembers us and it really feels a lot more inviting than any other doctor I've been to. If you really like flourescent lights, a hospital setting, and a sterile-feeling environment, then he probably isn't for you. His office is in this awesome gigantic purple house near Planned Parenthood.

He is thoughtful, thorough and engaging. His standard of care is among the best I have ever experienced in any of a variety of medical settings. In an era when your counted as lucky to get more than 10 minutes with your physician, Dr. Scheerer takes the time needed to examine, discuss options and then take a few minutes to talk about what books we've been reading.

She listens to your concerns with patience and makes sure all of your questions are answered before you leave. My daughter had some minor health issues as a toddler and I was very satisfied with the way Dr. Raheja handled everything, from making herself very accessible for follow-up visits and phone consultations to facilitating referrals to see specialists.

While doula services…read moreseem a bit pricy at first glance, I can attest that for all the hours put into the two prenatal birth prep classes, attending the entire labor and delivery at the hospital, postpartum visits, and 24-7 availability for questions and consultations before, during, and after delivery- the hourly rate is very reasonable and they are worth every penny and more. I felt very prepared heading into labor, and Toni was a complete godsend to have in the L&D room with my husband and I. She helped make me more comfortable, was full of great tips on how to progress labor and navigate the discomfort. She also was invaluable at helping us navigate various decisions and turning points as my labor unfolded. I had a wonderful birth experience with her. And after delivery, Anna and Toni continued to go above and beyond, helping us troubleshoot breastfeeding issues, showing us how to bathe our newborn, and Anna even gifted me a few handmade herbal sitz bath sachets that were wonderful.
