This is my second time coming to Lisa's Beauty Center for a pedicure. The staff have been soooo friendly both times. I really enjoyed my time in the massage chair getting my toes done. They have a nice variety of polishes to choose from. They also offer hair cutting, waxing and beauty tattoo services too! My manicurist today was Linda, who is super sweet. She took her time to make sure my polish was just right and she gave me a wonderful leg and foot massage! Oh, one warning: they only accept cash!! read more

I honestly don't want to write this review. But I feel like it is time. I've been coming here for 2 years and Lucy is by far the BEST manicurist I've been to in the 20+ years I've been getting my digits done. I don't want to share her. Girls, you know, it's hard to find someone really good at nails. I've calculated that I've sat 4,000+ hours in a manicurist's chair all over the world: from Hawaii to Brazil to Miami to Mississippi to Tennessee to Washington DC to San Diego to Lamorinda to Martinez... I've been known to pick hotels near a well-rated manicurist while traveling because a girl needs great nails everywhere she goes. Sadly, I've been to eucalyptus-smelling-marble-walled-spas only to get a knick on my nails after a day. ARGH! To me, a GREAT gel manicure has 3 qualities: 1) perfect gaps from cuticle to polish; 2) durability; 3) the personality of the manicurist. Lucy has all three. She is lovely and sweet. Never a bad day. Her gel manicures last, no joke, four weeks. Four full weeks of gardening, cleaning, and all sorts of stuff without gloves. I told her to raise her rates (I KNOW! What was I thinking???) because most gel manicures last two, maybe three. Why does it last so long? I think it's because she puts perfectly thin layers and doesn't rush. I have followed Rose from salon to salon for many years just because of who she is, so when she told me that my next appointment would be at Lisa's Beauty Center, I was not surprised that she moved again. To my surprise and great happiness, when I arrived, she informed me that her family had bought Lisa's and she and her two sisters would be working there. Rose and her family are some of the finest people I have ever met; caring, considerate, and professional. They always have a smile for their customers and greet them by name when they arrive. The salon itself seems a little outdated but the family plans to update and modernize it as they can, and they started with a fresh coat of paint! I highly recommend Rose and her sisters. Don't know the name of the person, but my mom had a bad experience there. First she didn't know that they only they only take cash, so when she was looking for cash in her purse she got pretty much yelled at. She took out a $20 and continued to look for more money. Well I guess the employee was inpatient and pretty much yelled at her, saying it's $30! My mom was so humiliated. Never coming back. They need to work in their customer service. read more

This place deserves -5 stars!!! I was beyond disappointed with my experience. I went in for a mani pedi. The tech attempted to clip my cuticles with the nippers she had previously used on my feet. She kept taking calls from her daughter during my service. She did a hack job on my cuticles by over trimming. She used a course file to buff my nails, and to add insult to injury, she asked me to pay for my subpar services before painting my nails even though the two other patrons present got their nails painted without such a rude and racist request! There are ways too many options available to subject yourselves to this treatment. Go elsewhere. read more

I have been coming to Lisa's off and on for 4 years now. It is always a joy to come in when Lisa is there. Her customer service is warm and welcoming. She also is very gentile when doing fills and manicures. Unfortunately that's were my love for Lisa's beauty ends. Anyone else who has done my fill has either made me bleed in multiple places or they lifted in a matter of 3 days or were a lumpy mess. The pedicures are sub par. Not much attention to detail with nail polish all over my toes when I leave. The massage is about 5 minutes long but no one seems to even pay attention to what they are doing (talking or looking off) and uses little to no pressure. I believe the owner Lisa tries to make it worth while with hot stones at the end. Unfortunately aside from Lisa, I don't feel that her employees share her same passion for customer service. Since they are the ones providing the service, Lisa's Vision is far for executed on almost all aspects. I continue to go because I live 3 minutes down the road. After my last 2 visits I have decided to search for somewhere else to spend my hard earned money. I usually spend $70 every two weeks (not including tip). I know I can get better service elsewhere with that kind of money. I would give this a 2 star if it wasn't for Lisa's joyful spirit. read more

I'm one to usually pay $35-$50 dollars a cut (nice salon) but as the economy takes it's down turn, salaries aren't what they use to be, it was time for a change. I was seeking cheap but good. I've been to SuperCuts (um never again), I've been to HairClips (um never again), but when Lisa (owner) offered to cut my hair for $15 dollars one day (1yr ago), I was SCARED STRAIGHT I tell ya but I let her cut my hair. You know how the saying goes," you get what you pay for" In most cases this is true but not with Lisa. I got some compliments from that cut... I soon realized that it wasn't bad and it was worth going back. I started out only getting my eyebrows waxed her for $10 dollars. Lisa does a good job. Now I have her cut my hair. I'm on a budget and boy do I save. Here's the trick - ONLY GO TO LISA! She cuts and styles for $15 bucks. Bring a picture so she has an idea of what you want. Don't go to any of the other ladies...especially the grandma stylists (not sure about their technique - ya feel me?). You want to come out of there looking like 2009 not 1959. Want an aesthetically pleasing environment? don't come here. If you are into cheap but does the trick - Lisa's your gal. read more

Terrible place. They do a crappy job at Mani's and Pedi's. I got highlights one time and they turned my roots orange and the highlights were splotchy. I went back to get it fixed and they tried to dye my hair a solid color and they turned my hair burnt orange with tons of splotchy circles. & my son's first haircut was so crooked I had to go somewhere else to get it fixed. I went this last Saturday to get a mani/pedi and ended up with Linda. She was absolutely wonderful and respectful. The pedicure was on point. I was less than pleased with the people I saw leaving the place. These people were rude, and it was pretty apparent like treating people in the service industry poorly. If you want a 12 dollar manicure and are upset with the results then go to a beauty school. I walked in right before they closed and they were kind enough to take me, which they didn't have to do. The shop itself is run down a wee bit, but it's cleaner than a lot of the fancy nail shops I've been too. The nail polish I originally had chosen was old, and Linda didn't like it so I told her to go ahead and pick a color. She picked a really pretty coral, and then added cute little flowers on my big toe. It was very sweet of her to dot that, and she was so excited about getting to do fabulous nails which by the impression I got was that's something that she doesn't get to do very often. When you look at this woman's hands, you know she's been doing nails for a very long time. We had a great chat, and she really gets through it. The experience of her was more than enough for me to go back, she does good work, but I believe it took someone coming in that showed her the mutual respect she deserves as a person to get it. Be nice to the people that perform services for you. Yeah they don't speak the greatest English, but they are by no means stupid or incapable. Plus you always tip well, they are literally scrubbing your feet and dealing with your nasty cuticles, don't be a jerk. read more

Well, I read all the bad reviews & it makes me sad. I've had nothing but fab pedis & so have my elderly parents, who can't really take care of their toenails/feet anymore. I go to Van (pronounced Vonn) & she is amazing! I had 2 issues with my toenails & since I've been going to Lisa's, my toenails look & feel great. She knows what she's doing & is very sweet. I get the pedi with sugar scrub & hot stones...oh boy, what a treat. Van knows how to give a massage & does a great job. Lisa's is clean, friendly & reasonably priced. I live close so it's convenient. I previously went to a salon that ruined my nails & I believe was unsanitary, incompetent & should be closed. I won't leave Lisa's or Van. I must say, I am appalled at what Lisa's shop has become. I used to be a regular with Lisa as my go-to nail tech. I was always happy with the fast customer service, inexpensive costs, and well-done nails. All of that has gone straight out the window. I went there for Mother's Day to get a fill and pedicure. I made an appointment for 9:15. I arrived on time and my pedicure was started. The water was far too hot as if they assumed black people's skin couldn't feel the hot water as much. I had to tell her to turn the water down twice. My pedicure experience was terrible. There were none of the usual amenities. No water conditioning, no soap, no scrubbing, no hot rocks, NOTHING. I was given an extremely barebones pedicure and was very much mistreated, especially for the astronomical price they charged me. They then started on my manicure and got dust all over my clothes. They didn't even give me a towel to cover them. My black pants were dusty and cheap-looking after that. Then the manicure came. Halfway through my manicure, the woman stopped doing them to service a white lady walk in. Keep in mind I had an appointment. The manicure was lumpy and looked unfinished. She didn't push back my cuticles and as a result, my nails look like they are a week old the next day! The whole process was a nightmare, I tried to complain and they acted as though they didn't understand English until it came down to the money. Last time I came for the same job I was charged $50. This time however without informing me of the price beforehand even though I kept asking, and she said "don't worry about it", the price came out to $95. I was shocked and asked her why didn't she tell me about the price change earlier. I paid and left at 1:15, 4 hours after my appointment started!!! I am never going there again, especially with the terrible following of COVID guidelines right now, with no plexiglass separating the customer and the nail tech. I come to Lisa's to get manicures, pedicures and my eyebrows waxed. They are very clean, friendly, and efficient. Very comfortable spa chairs and the ladies really take time to make sure you get what you want. I am pretty particular about my eyebrows so I make sure to call ahead to insure Lisa herself is there. She is FABULOUS! Nicest lady ever. Knows me by name and I always get greeted with a smile by her staff. Really good prices too. Can't beat a mani/pedi for $30. Its not the fanciest salon around, but its great. I've gotten a really great hair cut there too. Definitely check out Lisa's. read more
