The connecting room setup worked perfectly for us, plenty of space between the two rooms, and the staff had clearly thought through what families actually need, right down to the football shirts waiting for our kids on arrival. What really stood out was the spa, chromotherapy showers, a jacuzzi, and this bucket contraption that tips warm water on you when you least expect it, sounds odd but the kids were obsessed. Add in a genuinely excellent dinner at the in-house restaurant and a location that puts you right in the middle of old Lisbon, and it's easy to see why this place is so well rated. Would book again without hesitation.

This is a home away from home. Rooms are charming, all you want ice cream, candy, cake in the lobby, wine tasting, happy hour, sightseeing walks, cooking classes, spa, a wonderful basement for lounging in with beautiful funiture and drinks to quench your thirst, a stocked refrigerator in your room, treats on every floor......all at no charge, and we are sure we missed something on our list. The one main thing that no hotel has ever topped is how you are treated and that every employee in the hotel cannot do enough for you!!! You go home very spoiled. To top this, the location is one block from the river and very centrally located. No, we are not the hotel writing this. We are a couple from California that spend 8 nights in this hotel and will dearly miss the attention. Judy & Lou July 27 thru Aug. 5th

She was right! Insanely spacious, comfortable rooms. Excellent breakfast, rooftop deck, restaurant upstairs. Beautiful common area on the mezzanine level to enjoy a coffee and pastry taking a respite during the afternoon between seeing the city. All in all, Bairro Alto was great! Walked from here to two Michelin two starred restaurants, an amazing pizza place, walking tour of the city, the world's best chocolate cake, and so much more. There is really everything right here you would want. Keep in mind it's a classic boutique hotel. That means small and narrow elevators. So sometimes you just have to be a little patient. Come for the friendly service, amazing location, comfortable beds, beautiful rooms, and know that this is a great place to stay in the heart of Lisbon. Highly recommend. Tip: If you are staying over the weekend, get a floor as high as you can and/or have a sound machine if you want to sleep well because the street noise is loud with people out and about on Friday and Saturday nights.

The hotel was clean and the staff made the experience extremely pleasant. Everyone we interacted with was so helpful and welcoming. When we first reached the hotel, the Uber driver let us out at a location that wasn't exactly in front of the hotel. As we were walking, we got turned around and called the hotel to let them know that we couldn't figure it out and one of the front desk's associates actually came out to find us and walk us back to the hotel even helping us with our luggage on the walk back to the hotel. We did have a car and the hotel recommended a good underground lot about a 10 minute walk away that was not too expensive. Our room was smaller but it was very efficient and well appointed. The room came with complimentary teas and Nespresso pods plus a large 2 liter bottle of "still water" and a gorgeous bathroom. The pillows, bedding and towels were fantastic. The water pressure was wonderful also. We were there in August and the air conditioning worked well also. The room also had a ceiling fan. The restaurant and bar was really good also. They have an incredible hamburger. Browns also has a coffee shop nextdoor. Brown's Central is in the heart of shopping, restaurants, coffee and pastry shops. However with all this, our room was quiet. The staff was friendly and accommodating and made great suggestions for dinner.
