Well first of all, in Slidell, it's this Rouses or some version of Walmart. It's the only real Deli…read morein town. That being said the place is filthy. The layout of the store makes no sense. And don't make the mistake that I did and go first thing in the morning. If you do, the store is a wreck. There night crew leaves the store looking like it's been hit by a tornado. Also, they don't get up early enough to get fresh stuff from the deli. You have to go no earlier than noon with every other asshole in this crappy town and go scrap for whatever they might have. One time I went and got these pretty good chicken strips from the deli. That was months ago and I haven't seen them since. This place is run haphazardly by clowns with no discipline and no consistency. The only reason I gave 2 stars was bc they are the only alternative to Walmart which kills my will to live. Grocery shopping in an overcrowded town that has less choices than pre Katrina when there were half as many people. It's a low quality of life and this Rouses isn't making it better. Half ass.

She scanned the item I had placed on the belt, I saw "insert card" on the card machine, so I inserted card. I saw that she obviously was having trouble with the order. So I said, politely "trouble with the computer?" She said nothing. Eventually she said " Take your card out", so I did. She then just froze, saying nothing, not moving. Then she picked up the phone there and said something. I then politely said, should I go to another check out?". She said nothing! Then another lady came up, and cleared the register. I saw "insert card", and asked her "Should I insert the card?" She said NOTHING. Eventually the order was completed, and was handed the receipt. I waited about 5 seconds to be told "Thank you", but she said NOTHING! So, I loudly said "You're Welcome!". She said nothing. As I walked off I said loudly "You should go to friendly school!" She said nothing. What an unfriendly and rude person!!!!!!! The reciept does not have her names on it, but "Supervisor #9033" . At bottom: C0124 #0128 15:21:02 10Feb2025. She was working register farthest to the left that was staffed. left looking out. She, and whoever trained her, are terrible at their jobs!

It is 85% the young employee. As a customer it seems they resent having to answer a customer's question, or request for help. Comes across as they are not there to help or even consider you, rather that they are special "cool" because they work there. Their big cart is parked for their convenience, no matter a customer can't get to needed vegetables. Also in dairy I asked a worker what was the price on yougart since shelf price label was missing. They have bins of loose dry beans, tamarind, hibiscus, and more you can bag yourself. There are some shelves of pastries in the back by the butcher counter. The butcher is worth noting because it was pretty cheap, or at least the chicken was: drumsticks $0.59/lb, leg quarters on special for $0.49/lb. The meat is not pre-packaged, so if you wanted to buy just one drumstick you could. Spanish seems the primary language - obviously - but they understood my pathetic "cuarto pieces" request. There is also a food counter with some plastic tables set up as a dining area. I didn't see a menu, but I didn't look too hard. Food looked pretty good. Easy enough to get to, shares a sizable parking lot, worth checking out.
