My friend and I went to this store today and wasn't treated very nicely. We were ignored until we said something to the bakery. The king cake tasting was not welcoming or helpful. We weren't able to taste all the flavors they have. The gentlemen that assisted us went to get a plain king cake for us to try and that was it. We bought a Dr. Pepper king cake and is absolutely nasty. We are very unhappy with the service and flavor of this king cake. read more

So I have previously given this store a 1 star review. If yelp would allow negative star ratings I would give this store a -5 star review. For Thanksgiving 2021 we ended up with a turkey that was rancid , fortunately we had two. For the Thanksgiving meal I had also purchased a bottle of Kitchen Bouquet a few days before. When opened Thanksgiving Day it was dried up and solidified. Not one drop of liquid in the bottle. Two day later I picked up two of their precooked Rotisserie Chickens to eat with the leftovers from Thanksgiving. Both chickens were raw and bloody when we cut into them. The latest is three containers of grated parmesan cheese which we purchased Sunday 4/3/22. Last night I opened one of the 3 to find chunks of mold in the cheese. I looked at the expiration date and it was 1/22/22 on all three containers. Buy your groceries elsewhere. read more

Rouse's is excellent. As you enter, you are in the bakery and prepared foods section. All varieties of cookies, cakes and fresh baked bread are available. There is also a flower section, but I am a dude and don't know much, other than flowers are pretty and smell good. The bakery can make custom cakes for all occasions. Their cakes are reasonably priced and taste excellent. The prepared food section/deli can also prepare sandwich trays and other party platters. Again, they are reasonably priced and taste great. Rouse's deli has all varieties of meat. The Rouse's brand roast beef is very good, as is Chisesi ham. Near the deli is the cheese island (at least that's what I call it). There is a pretty good variety of cheese including goat and other varieties. As you move further into the store, there is an excellent produce section. I have found all of their fruits and vegetables to be fresh and well stocked. There is a small section with organic varieties that should satisfy most. The next section is my favorite. The meat section. Rouse's has a large display where they dry age beef. I have had some of their dry aged ribeyes. Yum. The meat section includes a cooler of items made in house. Stuffed chicken thighs, boudin, hog head cheese, beef jerky and my all time favorite, stuffed jalapenos. As you continue, there are several health/organic food isles. All I can say for sure is that this section sells granola and other healthy things. The rest of the store is pretty standard; milk, eggs, etc. There is a expansive wine and liquor section. There is a pretty knowledgeable guy that is usually in the wine area. He will offer suggestions if you aren't sure what you want. If you buy a bottle and want it chilled, there is an immersion chiller in the wine area. Put your bottle in, continue shopping and by the time you leave, your wine will be cold. They also have a small selection of high end cigars in the wine area. There is a large beer section which has a very good variety. There is even a shelf of beers you can buy individually or make your own six pack. This Rouse's seems to hire high-school aged cashiers. They are all very nice and professional. As you exit, there is a post office and Redbox DVD rental machine. Rouse's will oftentimes cook in the parking lot. We tried their spareribs one Friday, and they were very good. Everything is good except the butchers here. They are so unfriendly and the cut of the beef is terrible. Not very consistent and unreliable and butcher is not very helpful. Basically do not care! Today I bought a piece of pork loin to make pork roast. iIt surely tasted funny. The pork meat was very bouncy and rubbery. It must have been injected with salt solution to make it plump so it looks fresh and heavier on the scale. Hence the solution will make the meat heavier than it really does. It basically did not taste like pork any more. It tasted like "processed meat". read more

I'm not a true fan of Rouse's but this is the place to go if you're looking for unique cajun items. I came here looking for things for the wife and found them all. A little pricey, but where else are you going to get good andouille other than a meat market? We've also bought a few cakes from here in the past and I have always enjoyed them. I love Rouse's! It's about 1 minute from my house so I'm a regular. I really like the layout of the store. Fantastic bakery and "treat" section. They also have a really good meat section. I buy a lot of their pre-seasoned meats which are usually tasty.. The cashiers seem more friendly and upbeat than most places I go so that's a big plus. They even have a pizza buffet on certain nights. Just an all around good store. read more

This is for the bakery department. Gave them a picture 4 days before the party and they approved. It was to be put on my daughters birthday cake. I get a call less than 24 hours before the party and tell me it's copyrighted so they can print it. I asked how'd they know it was copyrighted and they said because it is, and that was that. After doing a bunch of research and not being able to find a copyright I told them just give us the cake and make a checker board for the design. Well they screwed that up and it was crooked and looked like crap. They went a step further and wrote all over it and had to scrape that off. The only reason I chose them was because they have an edible printer. Next year I'll purchase my own and do it myself. Rouses should be embarrassed by the service and crap products they are putting out. I knew I should have gone to SAMs club. Update: the girl in the bakery department admitted that she looked into it and that it was not copyrighted. So grouses just decided to make my daughter's birthday that much less enjoyable because they're assholes read more

I love this Rouses, but what happened to the organic apples? I miss them. :( Lots of other organic produce is usually in stock, though. Also, it seems like the almond milk I like (Silk brand, original unsweetened) is ALWAYS out of stock. Yesterday a helpful employee caught me looking for it and went to look "in the back" for me and actually found some! Yay! Other than that, just a nice, clean store - makes grocery shopping a lot more pleasant. read more

I had to go to this store to get balloons blown up because my regular Rouses has a balloon Nazi who wouldn't blow up 2 number balloons because I didn't purchase them from her. The lady in the floral department was so nice and helpful. She had no problem blowing up the 2 numbers I had and the 8 other balloons I purchased from her. I will continue to go to the Rouses on Hwy 22, but never for balloons or flowers. read more

Rouses is AWESOME! I got there a few times a week to grab different things, not just groceries. The one thing I like about the groceries is the high quality, and LOTS of support to locals. They even have fresh local butter wrapped in wax paper in their butter section! The jams, jellies, and salad dressings are the same, local, local, local. I have about five main reasons why I go to this Rouses though that every person should try at least once. *the sushi selection-perfect. The sushi in rouses is so fresh it's not far off from what I order in the restaurants. Sometimes even better! *the bakery-so good. One of the few places I can find black white cookies! Everything has always received compliments and very surprised looks when asked where I got it. *the artisan pizza kitchen-I buy pizza here at least once a week for my little girls. You can't beat a fresh baked pizza for $5 baked while you shop, and where else can you get smoked Gouda on your pizza?! Awesome. *the cheese selection is insane! Brie, goats cheese, crisp lemon tarts, most have little labels of what pairs well with them, and you look right above the cheese? The wine that's mentioned. About as convenient as it gets. That's not even including all the the local marmalades and honey (even honey comb!) you can buy for your snack. *the deli. Yet another thing I hit at least once weekly for dinner time. Red beans and rice, pastas, muffulettas, spaghetti and meatballs, porkchop or chicken dinners, you name it: they've made it. I also get our snacks here, tiny mini calzones, baby muffulettas, and a crazy mini sandwich tray for $12 that includes chicken salad, egg salad, turkey and roast beef. They also have some pretty awesome premade salads for a good price. *wine selection: awesome-extensive. Not much more to say here. *pretty much the only grocery store that sells all natural soaps and bath bombs too, the organic section has a lot to offer as well. *produce-one of the few places with a great selection, and brads crunchy kale! Be sure to look around for the stuffed portobello mushrooms too, good stuff! *meat selection-already prepared meats. Stuffed chicken breasts, butterflied porkchops, really good meat selection. Bottom line, this Rouses is awesome. The people that work there, awesome. It takes a couple of trips to get used to the layout because it can be a bit confusing at times, but I pretty much stay to the far right of the store anyway. You don't even need to go grocery shopping with all of the greatness that's right there when you enter! You will pay for it. But it is not just grocery shopping here, it is an actual fun experience. This is hands down my favorite Rouse's location. In close second is the Rouse's on Carrollton. It has a $5 pizza place and a snoball stand inside the store. But back to Mandeville. I go to this Mandeville Rouse's for fun. I really like browsing the bakery section and looking at all the delicious desserts. The produce and meat are the best I've had from any grocery store in the area. There is always a special on meats. The wine selection is wonderful and today I spent half an hour just browsing. All of the food at this location is great, but what really stands out is their level of customer service. I have never left that store without being offered help by a minimum of 3 employees. I can't remember her name, but whoever was working in the wine area around 10:30 this morning was so helpful and friendly. At the register the cashiers help you unload your basket and load it up for you. They even offer to have someone help you to the car if you like. Making groceries can be really stressful, but the service at this location makes it fun! read more

I did not have a good experience at this store with a young man at customer service. Customers are important and he made me feel like a nobody I had an exchange and Waited in line like everyone else. I was told to go ahead and get what I needed. I did not think I had to get back in line , so went to front with my item for exchange He totally ignored me without a word. I patiently waited after he checked out 2 customers and finally asked" do I have to go back to end of this 10 deep line". at least tell me instead of rude way of letting me stand there like a total fool.
