Lao style papaya salad and Khao Piak Sen (Lao Chicken Noodle Soup) ... I don't ever do reviews off Yelp. But this deserved one. It was so delicious

Highlights: *Hmong cuisine *Good-size portions *No frills ambiance, no problem I'm not super familiar with Hmong cuisine, though it was interesting to try. Food: Hmong sausage Beef slices stir fry with pakana Purple rice There was aot of food with the Hmong sausage. While there was a lot of food total, there wasn't a lot of beef slices in the Beef Slices Stir Fry with Pakana. I was hoping for the ong choy but they had run out. Google Maps and Yelp listed the type of food as Laotian, though when I asked the staff they said Hmong was more accurate. Because of the labeling issue, I'm not sure how many other Hmong restaurants are in the area. Though this was easy to get to, seemed family-owned/operated and a decent value. Parking Plenty of parking since it's a shared lot. Ambiance There are two TVs though neither were showing anything on a Wednesday around 6.

My favorite hidden gem.My absolute favorite place to get the BBQ beef pho and quails. The product quality is consistently outstanding, exceeding my expectations every time. Customer service is always great.

A hidden gem! One of my favorites around the twin cities area. The food is so good, so fresh, and so flavorful! They give you a TON so you can easily share but we always get our own so we have leftovers. The egg rolls are yummy. A bit small but very very reasonably priced. (2 for $3.50, so you can get a few orders if you like!). Their fried rice is massive and super delicious. Most flavorful fried rice in the area if you ask me! I did the chicken that's similar to orange chicken but has a kick. It's breaded and I was nice and crisp! We've already talked about how we're coming back this week! Note that they are closed on Fridays.

Good music, good food and good amount of seat selections. Cannot go wrong with rice dishes or soup. Though the pho is really bland expect other dishes to try. Food portion is just right at least feeding 2 people per plate. Service for seating is usually quick, unless full capacity. Food is promptly brought out. Definitely recommend visiting if it is your first time, or 50th time.

Staff were friendly during our time there. My noodles were still a bit hard and not cooked fully so it was kind of hard to chew but broth is still good. Food came out about a good amount of time so it wasn't too bad.

    P2. Combination Pho

Little Asia is a classic family favorite for my fam, mainly because of the convenient location growing up in Frogtown, affordable pricing and there being something for everyone. I like most things here but my favorite is the pork steam rice rolls and beef brisket with sticky rice. The steam rolls is chewy and taste just like the way my mom and grandma made them growing up. The beef brisket is a little spicy, salty and super addicting. The pho here is okay for me but I would say it's a pretty standard Hmong style pho because of the pork belly (growing up my mom would top off her pho with store bought pork rinds for a crunchy & more simple alternative). If I do get the pho, I usually order the combination pho- the broth is a little on the sweet side but I don't mind that. However, sometimes the sliced beef for the pho tastes weird (not fresh), the imitation crab isn't my fav, I would like more pieces of shrimp but the pork belly is bomb in the pho. What I do appreciate about the pho when getting it to go though is the packaging- Little Asia even packs the side of veggies and condiments for you and I LOVE that because for me, that's what makes the pho complete- being able to personalize it with condiments and adjusting your old pho bowl to your liking (even if I have most of it at home already, it's the thought that counts). Again, I do like the pork belly here but I have found that the pork belly is a hit or miss- sometimes it's perfectly crispy and just melts in your mouth and other times it has been just too oily and chewy for my liking. There is plenty of parking and you can call to order in advance for easy pick up (most of the time my to go order takes just 10-15 minutes). Also it is located into Sunrise Plaza and most of the times, the door to get there from the outside is closed so you have to go through the Sunrise Plaza main doors then go down the hall. The bubble tea/boba here isn't bad either, I like the strawberry or taro boba. And as for service, staff are young but friendly and so accommodating. I've ordered from here a couple times in the past asking for sides of lettuce or cabbage to eat with my protein (Hmong sausage, beef brisket or pork belly) and they have been so kind to give me some!

This is the first time for me here. Been eating pho in MN for years and never can find a good place. A little dirty. Need to be quicker on the cleaning. The pho was good. Glass bowl says "extra large bowl here". My father said this place has been going down hill since it first opened years ago. New owners, etc. the original owners gave raw meat which is custom and good. Today, none. The broth was on point but everything else was not. Not enough veg for the pho. Meatballs were very small. Pho back home in Michigan is 1000% better. Recommend because the pho flavor was still good. Still better pho than Hmong village

Got it right this time around! Amazing broth!

Ok Little Asia Cafe, your pho has won me over. After my 3rd time there, I've learned to love the Pho. There's something special about the light broth that keeps me coming back for more. I would suggest adding a little chili oil and hoison sauce to kick it up a notch. Also, remember to get it with the pork belly. I feel like that's the ultimate signature in the pho. No pork belly, no party. You heard it first.

papaya, Nam tok, large sticky rice, 1/2 lb brisket, pakana w pork belly, P1 broth not added yet, pork belly, & spring rolls.

Every dish feels thoughtfully crafted and full of bold, authentic flavor. My go-to favorites are the pad thai, green curry, drunken noodles, Thai fried rice, yellow curry, and the spring rolls, they truly never miss. If you're new to Thai food, you can't go wrong starting with the pad thai and fried rice. If you like a little spice and depth of flavor, definitely add a curry to the mix. The portions are generous (perfect for sharing), and everything is consistently fresh and delicious. I can't recommend Coconut Thai enough!

We went before a show at the Amsterdam bar. It wasn't busy when we arrived, but the restaurant did fill in so it wouldn't be a bad idea to make a reservation if there's an event going on at the grand casino arena (formerly xcel energy center) because I could definitely see it getting busy! Their menu is clearly labeled with what's vegetarian, vegan, pescatarian, and gluten-free. The staff were also knowledgeable and able to answer questions about the menu items! The decor is very cute, and there are definitely good photo ops in the restaurant when it's not too busy! As for the food: The mango sticky rice is good and a shareable portion! I have no complaints there! I ordered pad see ew as well with medium spice, which is my go-to spice level when trying a new restaurant. I really didn't notice any spice, so I would order it spicier in the future! Tofu was my protein of choice, and their tofu was very crispy which I enjoyed! There were fewer vegetables than in the pad see ew at other places (no carrots or Chinese broccoli, just regular broccoli), and it is a smaller serving size compared to some of my favorite dishes places! With that being said, I did enjoy it overall and would come back next time I'm in the area! I would try ordering with a higher level of spice and maybe try a different entree next time!

I've ordered from On's dozens of times and they honestly deserved this review a lot sooner…read more Everything I've ever eaten from On's is authentic, delicious and bursting with flavor. I've tried numerous menu items, including their Laab, Pad-ga-pow, mango salad, pineapple curry, pad Thai and Prik Prik Moo Grop. There's another dish I've tried there that seems it's no longer on their menu but it was a curry seafood dish served in an actual coconut. It was amazing! My favorites so far are the mango salad and pad Thai. The #70 Moo Grop dish is a close one for top picks but my only complaint is the pork chunks weren't my preferred texture. The sauce, however, is a show stealer. I could literally drink it! It's that good. I've personally never had a negative eating experience with Ons but my husband did complain to me about their pineapple curry. He orders his food at the spiciest level, and I only ever tried a bite of his, but he thought it was very sour and tasted pickely. It was not the best curry I've had but I didn't think it was bad. I'm a seasoned Thai food eater - it's basically all I eat. So I've tried all of the Thai spots in the twin cities. On's is sitting in my top two. I've never eaten inside the restaurant so I can't say much for the service, but I have been in the restaurant to pick up orders and there isn't much to say for its ambiance. It's a very casual setting. My only complaint about Ons is that they serve their curry in shallow containers which makes for smaller portions. If they served their curry in soup containers and gave larger portions, they'd be my go-to spot every time. Right now, my other favorite Thai spot has them beat on curry portions. But that doesn't stop me from coming back for other menu items.

In terms of food, there is a mixture of Burmese, Thai, and Karen dishes, and each one that my friends and I have ordered has been a hit. The tea leaf salad has amazing texture because of peanuts and fried garlic, which provide crunchiness, and has amazing flavor because of lemon juice, fish sauce, and tomatoes. The noodle salad has a light taste without adding the given lime piece, and then the rich nutty taste gets evoked and elevated upon adding lime juice. The zaap crispy has very well-seasoned fried chicken pieces, and medium spice level gives it a good amount of flavor. The shan khao soi is so creamy and tasty that even tasting the curry broth itself is a sensational experience, and the chicken leg included literally has "fall off the bone" meat. The boat noodle has a mixture of sweetness and savor, while the sweet flavor does not overpower anything at all. Finally, the mohinga clearly has fish cake flavor and texture fully infused, making it authentically delicious. We also ordered the knyaw iced salad, which was a mixture of ice along with crackers and other types of sweet ingredients. I thought it was very similar to a type of Vietnamese dessert called chè ba màu (three color pudding), and fully enjoyed it. The establishment only had one dessert, and I thought that was sufficient. While the street contains many excellent restaurants, I personally believe that this establishment stands out in terms of taste. I must also mention that since my friends and I arrived when barely anyone else was there each time we had gone there, we never experienced any service delays that some have mentioned in their reviews. I probably will give this place a 5 rating anyway even if I experience slowness, although I hope I don't.
