I really hope this place survives it was so cute. We decided to visit on a whim randomly when driving around this area. It's a quaint shop but the inside is bigger than you think. The first part of the store inside has goodies / merch to buy. While the store is free to visit the cats, we felt obligated to buy something as we had a great time. The cats were so cute! I bought a coffee. In the interior cat area there are many cats inside, with many toys to play with. Lots of varieties. We saw one with inly 3 legs but he was so adorable!!! They came in different moods, some were napping and some were ultra hyper. The staff was very nice and it seemed lots of them were getting adopted. Several parties can sit inside because it's so spacious in the cat area. Highly recommended!!!! read more

Free cat cafe. They don't try to upsell anything either. You go in, sign the waiver, and they'll let you in the room of cats. Half of them were sleepy, but the other half were pretty active. I saw a couple affectionate cats just sleeping on a human. The cats I played with today seemed to enjoy the purple worm fishing toy the most. I was able to summon 4 cats at once because of it. The merchs were also reasonable priced. I ended up buying a candle since I read that they're volunteer-based. read more

I did a walk in. There are no fees and no time limit, you just need to sign a waiver and be respectful. I got there a little after they opened, there were already a few other parties there petting the cats. They did not have coffee that day, but its ok, there was other snacks and bottled drinks available as well as little trinkets. There is a room where you can meet the cats. There are volunteers around that help answer questions and monitor. I even got to feed a cat! It was a good experience, there were a lot of cats around. Super cute cat cafe! No reservations are needed, so you walk in and just put your name down. If the room is too crowded, you will be asked to wait a bit until the previous party leaves. There is no set amount of time you can stay, but my party of 3 stayed for about 30 minutes! Inside the cat room, there are about 10-15 cats with varying energy levels. It's a great way to play with some and get a feel of whether you get along well with them, as there is an option to adopt. Also this is common sense but please be mindful that some cats prefer their privacy/are introverted so read the room and do not pressure them to play with you!!! The drinks aspect of the cafe is usually closed, with random days where it would be open. It was closed when I went so I can't speak on that part. No entry fee, no time limit, and a very homey environment to let your stress fly away whilst available kittens and cats walk, play, sleep, and cuddle by you will for sure melt your heart. There are snacks and drinks to available to purchase, water is free. Their espresso bar will be open in a few weeks, so be on the lookout for that. There are trinkets (keychains, mugs, earrings, rings, stickers, etc.) available to purchase as well. Little Beans Cat Cafe is an extension of Feral Freedom Northern California. Levi is the founder and has many years of experience as a volunteer and vet technician to help serve the cat communities around the Bay Area, creating programs to help the community find resources to maintain the health and well-being for our feline friends. Not just kittens or cats on the streets, but he works with other shelters to help nurse and bring out the best in them to help them have a life they so deserve. Kittens with disabilities, kittens/cats with medical needs, owner surrenders, strays.. you name it.. I was so fortunate to have met Levi during a transport opportunity. If you do not have time to volunteer or funds to donate, you can help rescues by transporting cats/kittens, dogs, even pigs from one location to another. This rescue deal takes a village! Join Fetch! NorCal Animal Transport Club. And I think that was what helped Caleb, a lone kitten found after his mom was run over and his siblings killed by wildlife. I am fostering Caleb and Myla through this wonderful rescue and while my review is bias but I cannot dismiss what I witnessed and feel when I am there. Just all good vibes. After the loss of my emotional support kitty, I immediately saw a senior cat online at the cafe. I personally like adopting older kitties, as they are often less trouble. Even though the cafe was under construction, Levi told me to come and meet and greet the cat that I wanted. I absolutely love the kitty I picked up; she was amazing on the 2-hour car ride back to Merced. She is making herself at home and knows how to use the litter box. She has already been in my lap, and she lets the other cats know what her boundaries are. I would like to go back here after they are finished with the construction. read more

The names of the cat cafes are somewhat deceiving, as there really isn't a café. This one has said they are installing a coffee bar, but it is not there yet. It is a very small space, so there isn't a lot of room for one, as it is. And it really wouldn't be something needed in a place that is so small, but it might give them some extra revenue to help run the place. Little Beans is free to visit, and they have unlimited amount of time that you can be there between 12:00 - 6:00 p.m. on Saturdays. They do have a couple of couches where you can sit. The youngest kittens or, cats that were new, were in a very small enclosed space where several kids had taken over to play with them. They want you to take off your shoes in that space, but you can wear shoes in the outer part of the room with the other cats/kittens. They had around 24 kittens/cats. Most of them were young. Several of them had one eye, as they get some from a veterinarian that does surgery on kittens with problem eyes, which apparently is a frequent problem. We had one cat that was about 2 years old, very friendly, who walked up to us immediately as we sat on a couch. It turns out, there is a jar of snacks on the table in front of the couch, which the cat was very interested in. He would bat the jar towards us, and off the table. That made us heroes. Another little kitten jumped up on the couch and across our laps, and also was interested in a few snacks. Several of the kittens approached us and several wanted to play. Of course, many are also wanting to rest and sleep. We arrived around 4 p.m., and apparently they had been playing much of the day. But, there were still always some wanting to engage. There was only 1 cat that was growling or hissing if any other cats came near, and seemed a little overwhelmed. But, when I would dangle a fishing pole toy in front of him, he'd grab it and quiet down. My sister used to foster mother cats & their kittens, and often the kittens are skittish of people. These cats and kittens seemed very friendly and approachable, and enjoyed the connections. Those that wanted to get away had many places they could climb to or hide. If wanting some time to be around cats/kittens, this is the place to come! The only downside is that there may be many others there, and it can then be tough to get to some of the kittens, especially the littlest ones in the small enclosure. The cats all go home to foster homes during the week and the evenings, and are only here on Saturday afternoons. The fact that they have snacks you can give them, seems to likely help the cats be even friendlier with strangers. I would definitely come back again. read more

I didn't get to visit the cats (they were completely full even though I arrived within 10 minutes of their listed opening time and had no estimate on when or if we'd get to visit the cat lounge) and the drinks we had weren't quite to our liking, though the barista was very considerate and working with a new system. HOWEVER, this is a volunteer situation and they owe me nothing. They are not paid to make me happy, they are VOLUNTEERING to find cats homes. So 5 stars from me! Plus, they're new. Things are bound to have growing pains while they figure out their process. And the team was really nice and trying their best. The local merchandise is a great idea and the pieces are wonderful. Suggestions to the leadership: - If reservations are a thing, make it clear and accessible! An automated booking calendar on your website would be fab. I just checked it again and still can't find any mention of reservations, yet the entire room was packed. We saw a person come in after us and get let in, so we assume he must have been part of a group reservation. - Maybe create a maximum reservable time slot as well for those if there isn't one already? I get that a good "third space" doesn't have a maximum time, but you can always choose not to enforce it if there's no one else waiting to come in. That way when a walk-in is like, "how long until space opens up?" there's an answer. - That's it! I think the other kinks will work themselves out with time. This space is way too small for the cats and was extremely overcrowded when I visited. All of the cats were most likely stressed and overstimulated. No waitlist and anyone can walk in, so the place got very overcrowded quickly. The owners do not respond to emails or adoption applications in a timely manner. I went to visit in hopes of adopting a specific cat, but they never mentioned any other applicants who were interested in adopting the same cat. There's no time limit for how long you can stay in the kitten space, which is way too small and doesn't provide much privacy for the kittens, so I wasn't able to see the cat I wanted to see since someone was in the space for so long. There aren't many rules or a system in place, so nothing stopped the girls from cutting my spot in "line" to the kitten area after waiting for a long time. I read a review that said the owner of the shop is an experienced cat shelter volunteer and vet technician. Shouldn't they know that this space was not an appropriate size for this many cats and kittens especially when so many people are also there and invading their space? They need to establish a stricter system that controls how many people are in the shop and for how long. I know the appeal is that anyone can freely walk in and out of the shop, but it's a nuisance for all the cats. Disclaimer: I did come on a Saturday, when anyone can enter without an appointment. Typically, appointments are needed to enter on a regular weekday. This just makes me a little confused about why they don't have time slots or appointments on the weekends to help control the flow of people coming throughout the day. The employees I saw seemed nice, not sure if they were the owners, but I had no idea who to go to for assistance. There's also no sanitary requirements such as needing to sanitize our hands before and after handling each cat. Other than that, parking space was very limited and small. On a positive note, their merch was very cute. There were many treats and toys for the cats to play with. Some refrigerated beverages and snacks for visitors to buy that seemed tasty. Two stars-- just for the cats and the kittens. The reviews look very biased. 5 stars seems too generous and biased. Just go to the Humane Society if you're interested in adopting a cat. read more
