We recently adopted two cute kitties from Itty Bitty Orphan Kitty rescue and they are truly the delights of our life. One thing we greatly appreciated about this rescue is the staffs are really nice and super caring about their kitties, and make sure the potential adopters will be trustworthy and caring parents of the kitties. They do careful review of applications, ask questions, provide helpful documents and tips on how to help the kitties settle down, and they come and deliver the kitties to the place and make sure it is a hazard free environment for them. If you would truly like to give love and home to these beautiful innocent animals, I recommend checking out their available cats and contact this kitty rescue! (Important) Note about two-kitty policy adoption: I like their policy and it's actually very aligned with how much they care about their kitties and don't treat them like dolls/puppets for entertaining humans. A lot of these kittens come from the same litter and they are very attached, thus it is not an ethical act to separate them from the other sibling they have a strong bond and this can make them suffer badly.

Did you know they now have a brick and mortar location called Itty Bitty Kitty Cafe?!? The location is within Cambrian Plaza. We have been long time supporters of IBOK and we were so excited to see that they have an awesome set up to snuggle and meet kitties available for adoption. You can book a reservation online, $15 for an hour (they have a set up if you have an active approved application with them where you can visit numerous times, see their website, don't quote me lol), and play and love on little fur balls of perfection. We aren't looking to adopt at this time, but we love that we can get our kitten fix. It can get a little snug inside when you arrive for your appointment and the previous appointment is leaving, but don't fret you'll get situated quickly. Amazing organization and even more amazing volunteers! We will be back!

By far the worst place you can go to adopt a pet. The employees are extremly rude and raised her voice at me. They denied my application for adoptiing a pair of kittens for no reason and just said I am not a good fit. I have a well paid job and have a clear background check and a lawful and respective resident of California. This is the exact email that their manager "Laurie Melo" working there sent me: They should consider changing their name to IBOK-DUNGEON for animals!! " Lawmelo Sat, 8 Oct, 18:36 (1 day ago) to Movassaghi.samaneh First of all, I wish to apologize for raising my voice when speaking with you today. It was a long day and you just didn't seem to understand that we were closed, were packing up, and did not have time to talk with you. Secondly, when you applied to adopt last year, you clearly were not ready to adopt a pair of kittens. We canceled the adoption and told you that you would be better off with an older single cat. We understand that you have moved, but we still do not feel that you are a good candidate to adopt a pair of our kittens. We're sorry, but it just isn't a good fit. There are lots of other rescues and shelters that have kittens so you should contact them and apply. We will not be adopting a pair of our kittens to you. Thanks. I felt embarrassed and as though I had done something wrong simply for feeding my child. As a mother, I should not have been made to feel unwelcome for breastfeeding. In California, mothers have the legal right to breastfeed in any public or private location where they are otherwise authorized to be. Instead of respecting that right, I was asked to relocate, which left me feeling singled out and humiliated. I expected a family-friendly business to be more understanding and supportive. Instead, I left feeling discriminated against during what should be a normal, protected act of caring for my baby. I hope management takes this seriously, educates its staff on California's breastfeeding protections, and ensures no other parent has to experience this. Because of how I was treated, I will not be returning.

Kind of like what was feared in Y2K, but really real -- "this date is invalid" it said for the new year entries -- Nightmare Land. Looking for an alternative program to migrate to I heard a lot about QuickBooks, but am rather 'old-school' and was trying to avoid putting our business accounting in the cloud and having a direct link from online bookkeeping to our checking account. As I had never used any other accounting program, and have no formal training, switching felt daunting. I found Prosper Bookkeeping on Yelp and reached out to Daniel Lin for a free consultation. He explained that I could use QBO without linking our checking account directly or utilizing AI features if I did not want to. So I decided to work with Daniel -- he patiently went through the steps to set up our books for the beginning of the year and coached me in bringing all entries for the year up to date. It was helpful for me to learn the new program UI through hands on instruction via Zoom, and then later review the videos Daniel provided of our training sessions. Daniel is a consummate professional - a non-judgmental and patient listener who is extremely knowledgeable and has a knack for quickly parsing through numbers. After using the program for a full quarter, I found that I had made several errors and could not reconcile our bank statements with QBO -- Daniel found the issues for me and fixed them in minutes. Like Magic! I'm very happy that I went with Daniel and Prosper Bookkeeping, FIVE stars!

During my time volunteering, I did enjoy getting to know some of the families who came through the lines, connecting with other college students, and working with a few kind staff members. Helping people in the community was meaningful. However, my overall experience was disappointing due to the behavior of some long-time "regular volunteers." I frequently observed volunteers speaking harshly to people receiving food, yelling at them, and showing little patience when there were language barriers. I even witnessed a volunteer smack someone's hand away from the produce boxes. While I understand there are rules that must be followed, the way some people were treated felt disrespectful and lacking empathy. I also noticed inconsistency in how rules were enforced. Volunteers were told not to leave their stations or keep water on the floor, yet some long-time volunteers regularly ignored these rules themselves. There was also frequent gossip and negative talk about other volunteers. Sacred Heart serves people who are often already going through difficult circumstances. Compassion and respect should always be at the center of that work. Unfortunately, I didn't always see that reflected in the environment. I hope the organization takes time to evaluate volunteer conduct and reinforce the importance of empathy when working with the community.
