My husband and I spent a lot of time going through postings on the Petfinder app, looking for the right dog (we'd waited for a few years for the right time). Colby is the one we decided on! We drove 4 1/2 hours to come see him. He himself waited a long time for a family of his own and I think everything worked out really well all around. Despite spending life since puppyhood at the shelter, Colby was well adapted to being with people and very friendly. They kept him in good health and gave him love for us until we could adopt! Nowadays, Colby is having a great time on his new adventures, and the volunteers from HSMC follow them on Instagram! We have kept in touch and they love to see photos of him in his new home. The point of this review is that we very much appreciate all HSMC did for us and our good boy! They are a wonderful organization from which to adopt. But, oh my, we had problems from day one. She would get car sickness, so we couldn't go anywhere on the spur of the moment because we had to give her meds. Emma didn't like being held. She was very sweet but not a cuddly dog. She would get ear infections, anal gland problems, she had allergies, bladder (crystal) problems, weak patellas, and finally we lost her from liver disease a few months before her 9th birthday. It was so heartbreaking because it came on so quickly. And it's so painful to lose a dog that my husband still gets teary eyed talking about her. The other thing is that she was suppose to weigh 7-8 lbs, but she weighed 13, and she wasn't overweight!! We now have a Shih-poo that we purchased from a local breeder. She was so tiny and so sweet and lovable. From when we first saw her, she would follow me and jump at me to pick her up. Since we brought her home, she has to be with me constantly, but still gives my husband a lot of attention. She's not a barker, and the friendliest little girl. I would highly recommend getting a dog from a breeder that you can go and meet the puppy, spend time with it to see how you both interact. If the dog doesn't like being held, or seems distant, that will be its personality. We've had a lot of dogs over the years, and the ones we personally met and spent time with were the best. Maybe our Emma was one off with this breeder, I don't know. But Emma was at the vet so often, and I was thankful that we were fortunate to be able to afford all that expense. Many people can't. This location is right in the heart of commercial breeders zone. I do not recommend this place and hope you do your research before purchasing here. After dealing with her ignorance, Kathy finally agreed to giving me a replacement puppy ( my now 3 year old ) I have dealt with many issues from angular limb deformity in his paw which required a 7k surgery, parasites, severe anxiety, and to now ongoing seizures. It has been a tough journey that I do not wish to anyone. Kathy needs and will be held accountable to ensure her healthiness and safety she claims to have in her dogs and business.

Lily was a bday gift. My husband doesn't have much experience with breeders because we usually go to the shelter. He purchased the highest level of training (~$10k over the $7.5k price). She arrived sickly (giardia that worsened because they sent her with metronidazole "to calm") and had minimal training (sit/down/mostly potty trained -- that's it for $10k). Had I been involved, I would've studied their dams and sires; none are titled and all have subpar bloodlines. Also, there is minimal transparency about their health. Lily has the other issues you would see in a limited gene pool, including allergies and G/I problems, but hip dysplasia is heartbreaking. It has been extremely sad to watch her have so many health problems. The way Snowy Pines responded (didn't respond) has been AWFUL. My poor husband has had to work through his own regret for supporting this breeder. TL;DR: Find a more reputable breeder! Start with one that has earned AKC breeder of merit

I fed him after he had calmed down that night, checked back that morning and my water was cloudy just thought the tank was gross, I had somewhere to go that morning and didn't have time to clean it. I regret it came back that night and he was cover in a thick weird film that I found out is a bacterial infection and it had killed him I had him for thirty hours!
