The service is incredibly helpful and happy to share recommendations. The downstairs kids section is fantastic. I came here with my kids and they were just loving the store with the many bean bags, tunnels, and selection of books. I read several to them and they enjoeyd sitting around the little table and listening to me. There is a comfy couch area, where I sat for a moment and had a moment to just enjoy reading a book uninterrupted. The shop has a nice curated collection that reflects DC politics and travel, along with just some good reads.

However, their pricing was just a bit annoying to me. Almost every used paperback was at least $7.50, even if in fact the book when priced new, was less than that. For that reason and what I was looking for, it just did not seem worth it. I usually just get paperback books between $2-$4, read them, and then place them in a Little Free Library. Nevertheless, Capitol Hill Books was still a great time for a visit and to just be around books.

I bought "Homegoing" by Yaa Gyasi thanks to the thoughtful "staff pick" recommendations they have on little notecards for various reads around the store. They even have a dedicated children's area with a little play space for kiddos, and a cafe serving up baked goods and beverages for purchase. Highly recommend visiting this local neighborhood gem.

On a Thursday evening it was very easy for me to find parking right up front and pay the meter for an hour. The event started on time and we were able to do a Q&A with the authors (who are now NY best sellers, woot woot). After the Q&A we all stood in line to get our books signed. Everything was well organized so the line went by quickly. Kristely at the front desk was super helpful and also helped me out with a glass of wine. This will definitely be my new hangout spot to come and enjoy a drink while I indulge in a new book or two. Thank you so much Solid State for a memorable experience.

The staff laughed with me when I told them I had not expected to buy so much. If you're going to be in the Wharf area, it's absolutely too close to miss. On the…read moreMetro side of Union Station on the ground floor in the old Kiehl's space is a store filled with thousands of records. They are well organized. Most the of the records are used, but they do sell new albums too. On the right side are books from Turning the Page and organized by category. The two men who own it are great and passionate about their shop. If you love records and used books, pop in even if you aren't catching the train somewhere!

I met my cousin for dinner and we spent time before and after exploring the shelf's. Loved the layout and intimate vibe. I am SO in. We stopped in bc my husband's last name is Kramer and it's spelled the exact same and I saw the brunch/breakfast options and wanted to eat here. We loved it. While I was here, I checked out a couple of cycling books called book 'Cyclepedia' and 'For Sweeter than Honey'. I also noticed the book entitled 'Reagan' which is a biography about the previous president. I stayed for about fifteen minutes and it was cool. I think they should turn this place into a cafe with books which I've seen in Mexico City.

Sure it's a kids book, but sometimes that's what we need - a reminder that everyone deserves love and respect. I glanced around this small shop - books are organized by topic with kids on the left and grown up options on the right. The person in the line ahead of me seemed to be dropping off some books and purchasing others. So maybe they have trade in options? When it was my turn the employee noted they had a lease for the next month or so. They're going to see if this location works out. Checking out was quick and easy. I was asked if I wanted to donate extra to the charity they fund. My kids book was $3 as it was a softcover. This seemed like a pretty good value. I plan to return.
