We first found this gem because COVID restrictions shut down our previous daycare and forced us to find a new care option, but in hindsight, it was such a blessing in disguise and a transformative experience! The owner and teachers were so loving and caring - they prepared freshly-cooked meals from scratch everyday, ensured our young children propelyr rest after lunch and avoid being over-stimulated and going home cranky and difficult for the parents. Though not a Montessori school, they used many similar techniques and spirits. For example, they emphasized learning through five senses, taught practical life skills (like dressing oneself) and emotional regulation along with academic knowledge, involved children in hands-on real-life projects such as making their own snacks (with ingredients prepared and process guided by the teachers like squeezing orange juice), encouraged older children to help younger children, encouraged self-expression through weekly talent shows, and fostered a community among the families by facilitating weekend playdates. The experience was entirely different from the traditional programming in a chain daycare center. As a result, one of our children transformed from a timid child to an outgoing one, and we were embraced into a strong community with long-lasting connections.

We always say it takes a village to raise a child, and Toadlers Pond was a HUGE part of our…read morevillage.  We sent in our son when he turned two years old, and due to the pandemic had never been in a daycare environment before, or even had many playdates or much exposure to other adults, and over the next year and a half the TPD staff worked with him on language, eating skills, coordination, confidence, and so many other things we didn't even expect (like facts about the different U.S. states).  What originally attracted us to Toadlers Pond was the passion and caring of the staff which was evident from our initial video tour, plus the incredible, fresh home-cooked food, which our son still misses very much and talks about.  We also credit TPD for (at least) 80% of our son's speedy potty learning progress, and helping him become a "big boy" about this typically anxiety-inducing chapter of toddlerhood, all with ease and a positive approach, keeping us up to speed every step of the way.  The staff were fantastic about giving us a glimpse into our child's day through pictures and videos posted on their private facebook group, and we absolutely loved the Friday talent shows.  By the end of his tenure at the Pond, our son was beyond prepared for the next step in his education, and we appreciate everything Toadlers Pond did to get him there. We will always be Toadies at heart, and can't wait for our daughter to become a Tadpole too!

Not to mention that if you aren't Jewish and cannot take off those holidays your options for daycares are even more limited. They don't advertise, and it's purely by word of mouth. That makes it even better. I love the environment, and both kids absolutely loved being there. What I love most is that everyone there, from Maria to Adela to Rosie are experts in child raising. They know if someone is amiss even before we can put our finger on it. It's like having a set of experts who can diagnose a problem. For the older children, the 2-4 year old side is a great place for socialization and bonding. Honestly, Mom's family daycare is one of the reasons why we made sure to stay in the neighborhood -- it was that important to us.

The teachers engage the children in a structured curriculum. They helped/encouraged my LO with all her milestones - tummy time, sitting up, crawling, walking, eating by themselves, potty training, etc. The curriculum covers all sorts of activities: art, open play, music, outdoor play / water play, dance, blocks/patterns/puzzles, etc. There are all sorts of activities for them to play with and enjoy. They use the Tadpole's app so you will receive daily reports of your LO along with pictures. My nephew, friends children, etc. all go here as well and we share the same sentiments. Lunch and snacks are provided to kids who can eat school food. Another plus is that they have an open door policy. You're welcome to come by anytime mid-day to visit or hang out with your LO. Those who work close by sometimes drop by during their lunch break to see their LO before going back to work. I've been to some places where they don't even let you peek inside the classroom, so I am thankful that they have this policy.

The classroom is located on the 1st floor of a small residential building and might not be as fancy or obvious as the other large daycares, but they are clean, attentive, consider safety, and have everything toddlers need to grow and learn. They try hard to keep costs reasonable. My son (18mos) has been attending TLS since he was 6 months old and from the very start, he has loved it there! Every week he learns something new, and you can tell that Miss Cira and her staff put a lot of energy and thought into every kid's individual development. I love that the place is small, so we know each child gets lots of attention & the staff have a good understanding of each personality. They are also flexible with drop-off/pick-up times as long as it's between 8a-6p - which is perfect coverage for two parents with full-time jobs. They helped my baby build muscles to crawl, stand, walk, and now he's coming home reciting ABCs, counting, and building his vocabulary (mostly verbal English but some Spanish & basic ASL too)! Best of all, they've taught him to tidy up after himself so even at home just puts toys back when he's done with them... when he sees toys, pacifiers, or books on the floor (even the dog's toys lol) he says, 'uh oh!' and picks it up to put away or give to a grown-up (or dog)! He even wipes the table after himself and can wipe his nose/face (very convenient), and loves washing his hands. It doesn't get much better than that. At drop-off he sits at the door waiting for it to open & then runs inside without a backwards glance. At pick-up, he sometimes cries and runs back into the classroom because he's having too much fun to leave! While they're not the most consistent with communication/photos, Miss Cira will happily chat at pick-up or drop-off and texts for any questions or updates. I personally do not need constant photo updates since I'd rather the staff concentrated on the kids' activities and safety (vs. being distracted trying to get daily pics of every child) so just occasional photos works for us. I assume if some parents want more frequent updates, they'll provide that. We trust TLS and are very happy that our little one is excited for school every day.

From the very first day we were greeted with warmth and love, as if it was our second family. During drop-offs my oldest son always walked in confidently and happy. My husband and I also walked away with confidence and peace of mind that our son was being taken care of by highly responsible, loving and professional people and in a safe and secure place. We also knew that he would have an amazing learning experience and great so is interactions with other children. Now, our youngest (infant) son attends and we can honestly say we still hold those strong feelings. Our youngest son cannot wait to go everyday! Its a great sign when he gives me his jacket to put on every morning!
