I attended a performance put on by Arctic entries. It was wonderful . The Alaska Center for the performing arts is beautifully designed. The staff was incredibly welcoming and helpful. They made sure that all guests were comfortable and had everything they needed. The acoustics in the theater are outstanding. The seating is comfortable and offers great views from every angle , making it very easy to fully enjoy the performance . As I said earlier the show was spectacular featuring talented local residents who clearly put their hearts and souls into their seven minutes they had on stage to share their story . The atmosphere was warm, and the audience was certainly engaged from the start to finish. I highly recommend the Alaska Center for the performing arts to anyone looking for a memorable and high-quality cultural experience. Whether you're a local Alaskan or a visitor to Anchorage, this venue offers a wonderful opportunity to enjoy world class performances and a stunning setting.

This new original musical is the global sensation that everyone is losing their head over!" It was a very interesting, fast pace, audience participation and entertaining musical. It is nice to see a Broadway performance in Anchorage. Tickets ranged from $49 and up. Seats near the stage were over $150 while we opted for the Mezzanine seats @ $49. As you can see from the Mezzanie picture, we had wonderful seats. Overall: 4 stars for the Musical, the friendly staff, comfortable seats. The theater itself is beautifully decorated. Only CON is CenterTix doesn't have a Military Discount for all shows. It only has "special" dates for different associations. They say they do, but couldn't find any.

We decided to do something different this year for Valentine's Day and made dinner reservations at…read morethe Chugiak Senior Center after seeing it advertised a few weeks back on their marquee... and we're so glad we did. The entryway was well lit, clean and everyone was just ridiculously friendly and working so hard. Seating started at 5:30 and dozens of us were waiting, mingling and happy to be there. They had a bar area set up with beer and wine, so you were able to have a drink while you waited and for dinner. They moved us quickly into the dining room, seating tables of 6- 8 and it was so wonderful to mingle with others. We sat with two other couples and enjoyed chatting with them. We were served a lovely meal... baskets of piping hot fried mushrooms were served to each table, followed by salad with a tasty brie stuffed puff pastry, warm whole grain bread with butter, your choose of prime rib or salmon and fixings and topped off with your choice of chocolate cake, mango cake or cheesecake with cherries. We had the prime rib and it was cooked to a perfect medium rare! The volunteers worked so hard to serve all the tables, refill beverages and clean up! It was a wonderful evening and we'll definitely go back again! I'm looking forward to going by for lunch one of these days that I'm working from home... which has been highly recommended in the past. There are also a lot of activities offered and you don't have to be a senior citizen to join in... I think I'll join the knit witz group in the near future!

For those who are unaware, most native corps in town have their buildings beautifully outfitted with indigenous displays of artifacts and information. Each Corp has its own preferences with regard to how and where it is displayed, who has access to it, if you are allowed to photograph it, etc. This particular Corp has set up a small, free museum on the ground floor with a lovely display of Alutiiq items.

STAR has a 24/7 crisis line available for those who have been harmed by sexual violence, have general questions, need a friendly ear to listen, or are seeking further resources. STAR also has a prevention and education team that provides community education services throughout the Anchorage community including parenting classes and partnering with the Anchorage School District to talk to the youth of Anchorage about personal safety; with a goal to ultimately reduce the number of people in Alaska that are harmed by sexual violence.
