It has a large parking lot/garage, with I think 2 - 3 floors, attached to the library building, which is really nice because it was always almost full, with people going in and out constantly, despite the Library itself not being that large. I met a client here, someone who lives in Milpitas and who reserved one of those private study rooms for us, the ones that most newer libraries have, which is a great thing for private meetings, study rooms, etc. They have several here. This central location makes it pretty convenient for most families and visitors, the large parking garage really encourages you to visit without waiting for parking. Visit you local public library!

No more mentally disturbed/homeless people on site. It's surprisingly busy on the weekends, especially back-to-school season. I love how they have a quiet area with a fireplace, cushy seats, and sunshine shining through the windows facing the park. No talking in this area. The children and teens' section is conveniently located downstairs, which is an ideal location since they tend to talk loudly. Study/meeting rooms are spacious upstairs, but must be reserved ahead of time. Also, the restrooms are clean on both floors. Love the sculpture near the entrance. I can't believe it took me ages to discover this library after walking around Downtown Mountain View for the past two years. There's a parking garage available on the side of the library including street parking. Nice to walk around after dining in nearby restaurants and worth coming back to chill and read.

Earlier today while I was studying for my finals, I noticed a man staring into my cubicle, which…read moremade me quite uncomfortable. He then came around the corner to stare at me and my work before telling me that I was not allowed to have food in the library. This person did not say hi or excuse me, just began to berate me to make sure I knew he had the power. I did not know the food policy as I am a first-year student and do not go to the green library often. I normally go to the East Asia Library and this is not an issue there. I responded with "okay," he then preceded to repeat over and over again that I couldn't have food, saying "Stanford policy states...." He also said, "you know, this isn't a restaurant." I was understanding at this point, but I began to get frustrated as he was aggressively repeating that I couldn't have food. I was only drinking an energy drink at the time to get me through the day, but I still understood to an extent. He then told me I had to throw it away, which I did, but he continued to stare at me. Additionally, the food cost me $20, so if he had asked me to put it in my backpack, I would have been more than happy to oblige. If he had approached me in a nicer way, I would have been more than happy to put the food away and then I know to never bring food in again. I currently pay for my own tuition and food here, so as a student working minimum wage, I cannot afford to just "throw it away," but this person did not seem to care. If he works at a University library, he should know how to talk to students without being belligerent and patronizing. Because of this instance, I am never going to go into green library again, I'd prefer the East Asia Library because the people there are much friendlier. This person was a smaller man with glasses and was working at around 4 pm 3/18. I have never been more humiliated and looked down upon in my life. The same thing happened to my roommate after she told him she would put the drink away in her bag, but he was rude to her as well. I think green library needs to rethink who you hire and how the workers treat students.

In the summer you can see lots of people hanging out by the tables outside. I studied upstairs for the most part, and it was very quiet and nice. It was usually pretty crowded and it can be hard but not impossible to find a seat. You'll see lots of Stanford and Gunn kids studying here.

It's opened many hours during the week including Sundays till 6PM! We were just visiting this area, and decided to stop by. It's got a welcoming sidewalk area w/several metal owl sculptures/statues greeting you as you approach the entrance. I believe that those are technically for protecting pedestrians, and others who are sitting on the benches on that sidewalk area, and for the safety of the patrons of the cafe who are eating on the patio, but those metal owls are pretty darn cute if you ask me. =) To the right side is Ada's Cafe which is a non-profit set up to employ adults with disabilities to empower them with employment, give them training, and help them become self-sufficient. What a wonderful cause! However, they were not open on the Sunday we visited. They also have a lot information posters and events posted on their window for the public. The first floor of the library houses the info desk, restrooms, a permanent Friends of the Library store, a teens area/room, and Kids Place which is a really bright and colorful children's book section. There's lots of computers, a story-time and hangout area for kids w/their parents, and of course, lots of books! There's also a special art piece on the ceiling of Kids Place, I had to take a picture of it as it's so bright and cheerful. It can get kind of noisy here and the set up does not lend the Kids Place to be separate enough to prevent sounds from traveling to other sections. The second floor has the grown up section w/many book shelves, and tons of other resources like newspapers, magazines, DVDs, etc. There's also several classrooms and meeting/study rooms. We needed some assistance from the librarian/library assistant on the 2nd floor and she was very friendly and kind. The gentleman on the 1st floor also provided some assistance and he was polite. Parking can be a bit challenging, since it's next to a park so it's shared parking, but on this day we were able to find parking quickly as we came later, about an hour and a half before closing. Overall, this is a nice library, and we're glad to have discovered this little gem while just touring the area.

Granted it is closer to where I live in San Jose but driving into the Stanford area and out is not the easiest thing to do, not to mention lack of food venues. But now it has become "the go to place" because: 1. The library doesn't close until 7pm - which is later than most other libraries. And you can still get in as long as someone inside opens the door for you. 2. There are plenty of spacious rooms with white boards - ideal for group meetings. 3. Internet connection is excellent - yes they offer free guest log in. 4. There is a parking structure and is free after 6pm on weekdays and all day during weekends. 5. The ambiance is awesome because...well it's Stanford campus. The only thing I don't like is that I have to pack lunch but as a result we got more hours out of our studying.

The parking lot was mostly empty. No problems finding a parking space, you pretty much have your choice! The campus was very quiet. It is a ghost town. You almost expect to see tumbleweed. There were no other people walking around the place. It was eerie. Didn't see much activity in any of the buildings we entered. There was only one building where we saw a small class in session. That was it. Perhaps everyone is taking classes online? Or perhaps most of the classes are in the evenings? We stopped by in the afternoon. We were surprised to find very modern buildings on campus. It actually looks very nice! Just need to populate it with some people. Loved the library. They had lots of tables, plus some quiet rooms for study or collaboration. There were plenty of outlets & USB connections at each table. If only the Sunnyvale Public Library were so well equipped. Another nice thing I noticed is that some of the outdoor tables were equipped with changing connections.
