In October of last year, my son was enrolled at Starfish Scholars. I chose this school after having a very negative experience at a previous daycare where I felt the teachers simply did not care. At that point, I made the decision that sometimes you truly get what you pay for. Even though this school was a little outside of my budget, the moment I walked in, I felt peace. I genuinely believed my son would be safe, cared for, and protected there. One thing that made me feel even more comfortable was the fact that they offered cameras for parents. Ironically, I never even logged into them because I trusted the environment so much. Every single day after pickup, I would ask my son how his day was, and during the first couple of weeks he seemed happy and excited to be there. Then things started to change. Around the second week, he began telling me he missed his old teacher. I didn't think too much of it at first because he also spoke positively about Ms. (JASMINE/YASMINE), saying she was nice to him and gave him snacks, which made him happy. One day, while talking to him about behavior at school and asking if he had been a good boy, we started discussing the cameras. That's when he told me something that completely stopped me in my tracks. He said, "The cameras only work for the kids, not the teachers." I asked him what he meant by that, and he began explaining that during nap time, his teacher had been touching him. As any parent would, I immediately contacted the police and filed a report. From my perspective, however, it felt like very little was actually done besides questioning the teacher. Life moved on for everyone else, except for my son. Since then, anytime teachers are brought up, he gets a fearful look on his face. What hurts even more is that my own sister is a teacher, and he now seems afraid around her too. It genuinely feels like he believes all teachers are unsafe. He no longer wants to go to school, and honestly, I don't blame him. When I informed the administration that I would be withdrawing him and explained why, the response felt cold, dismissive, and completely lacking empathy. As a parent, that was heartbreaking. I cannot recommend this school to any parent who simply wants to know their child is safe, protected, and genuinely cared for.

Jennifer has been so great since the moment we contacted this place to make a tour. She has such strong communication and answers all my questions as a first time mom enrolling my 4.5 month old into this daycare. We feel comfortable with the staff, the kids all seem very happy to be there, security & safety seem great which was a relief. The prices were very reasonable and includes more than I could have expected. Will come back to update my review once our baby starts her first few months. So excited and nervous all at the same time.

As we all know, you're in a lawsuit because you let a kid get brutally sa'd on a school trip, not the first time you've gotten in trouble with the law though huh. Your response was interesting, saying that you didn't know what was happening. The weird thing is you did though, you knew exactly what was happening but you didn't want to get your little donations to go down. "dismissing accusations that the school fostered a "boys will be boys" atmosphere and victim-blamed the student." My sister once reported that a kid said "I'd punch you if you weren't a girl" and your P.E. Teacher tried to make her feel grateful he was "being nice" sounds oddly similar for something you don't do though huh. Also coincidental you only defend people based on how much their parents pay. There's more but all the Reddit posts and videos speaking out about you have been mysteriously going missing so there's probably no use in writing this anyway. Sal out

Anytime I messaged or brought up a concern, they responded promptly and professionally. My son's teacher, Ms. Elisabet, was also very nice. One thing they do well is using the Brightwheel app. They send updates and photos throughout the day, which I appreciated as a parent. Unfortunately, my son did not seem very happy there. At every drop-off and pick-up he would cry and scream, which is not typical for him. He has been in daycare since he was 6 weeks old and is usually a very happy baby. I initially thought he just needed time to adjust, but it continued every single day. I personally found the strict closed-door policy difficult. Parents are not allowed to walk their children to the classroom or see inside the facility. As a parent, it felt uncomfortable not being able to see the environment where my child was spending 8 hours a day. I also feel this made transitions harder for my son. Another concern was with meals. Meals are included in the price, but the daily menu was not clearly communicated. The Brightwheel app would simply say that my son "ate all food," but it did not specify what he actually ate that day. His nap schedule was also adjusted to fit the group schedule. My son naturally gets tired around 10:30 a.m. because he wakes up at 5 a.m. each day. However, naps were pushed to 12 p.m. so all the children could sleep at the same time. Often he would fall asleep earlier from exhaustion, be woken up for lunch, and then put back down later. When I picked him up, he frequently seemed very tired and fussy. Toward the end of his time there, my son became very sick after daycare one day. Shortly after picking him up, he began vomiting and developed a high fever, which later turned out to be a viral infection and stomach bug. When I picked him up that day he already didn't look well, but no staff mentioned that he seemed sick during the day. I had to ask what he had eaten because whatever he had seemed to upset his stomach. He ended up missing three days of daycare because of it. With my son being unhappy at drop-off and pick-up, getting sick, and the center's hours not working well with my schedule, I ultimately had to withdraw him on short notice. I do appreciate the staff and believe they do their best to care for the children. I wish the experience had worked out better for us. My son now attends a different daycare that allows parents to walk children into the classroom, and he hasn't cried once at drop-off or pick-up--even on the first day. We both feel much more at ease.

When we repeatedly asked questions/asked to meet in person so we could actually communicate, we were ghosted. So we paid cash the first day, then put it on autopay (wrong idea), the cash payment wasn't applied until another $160 was taken out of our account on 8/24. We called and came in and told someone and then our account on brightwheel said we owed $320. Mind you she's been going for 3 days. We tell the front about it and they tell us that it's been put on hold and no other payments will come out of our account. Fast forward to 8/30 and our account gets another $320 out! That's $160 + $160 + $320 in a span of 1 week! I'm so pissed our account is now overdrawn and we removed her from the daycare bc $640 has been taken to watch our child for 5 days! Wth. I've been calling over and over on 8/32 to get the owner to refund us and now it's 4:55pm. They tell us that they have a meeting with the owner and will let me know what will happen. Called at 8am, 11:30am, 3pm, 4:10pm. Our account is overdrawn by $100 and they can't do anything bc the owner wasn't available till 4:30pm for a meeting to discuss this issue! I'm livid and pissed off and idk when I'm going to get an update! I like the convenience of a 24/7 daycare but this is crazy. I just got a job as a server and have been patiently waiting for the office to fix it and now my car payment and everything has been declined. (The owner) He refuses to give us a refund bc the policy states that we will give a 2 week notice. Why would I continue to have my daughter attend and the next 2 weeks your company will charge another $320 or more. He also said we owe a balance at infinity the other daycare. But I asked them to clear that balance bc my daughter got Covid and couldn't attend for 2 weeks. This owner doesn't care about the children or the parents only making money. The daycare doesn't even offer food for the children. Or a fridge for the lunches for the kids. The owner thinks that me posting my review is a "threat" no it's not! I'm bringing awareness to other parents bc we just got another notification today on 9/1 for another $160 due! Even with a $160 and $320 credit on our account your brightwheel app is trying to charge us another week! It's only been 2 weeks! So if we didn't do anything we would have dishes out $640 plus $160 again! That's $800 from 8/22!!! Wth! It's an app issue and the owner just wants to blame the parents!

We are happy with the school and staff. Coming from the over-crowded, over-stretched public school system, we are relieved to see our children accepted and not just doing well, but thriving. The upper campus kids especially love the block scheduling, as they are able to truly get some valuable class time in each subject. The homework is a perfect blend of rehashing the days learning and getting prepared for the exams. The teachers actually get to know the kids since class size is never a problem. My 4th grader loves his teacher, and with that comes respect and a desire to be the best student he can become. And being a Christian school, the true focus is on a rounded and grounded Cristian education. As with all schools, there are mistakes that have been made, and there are the occasional small problem. But the difference is that the staff and leadership truly will try to correct them. A parent is always welcome to speak with any of the staff, and the superintendent holds monthly meetings where anyone can come and voice concern or praise. What more could a parent want?

This school is not what it used to be. Over the last several years, programs and athletics have…read moresteadily declined while leadership priorities seem increasingly disconnected from what families are paying for. One major concern is that the school often relies on parent volunteers instead of hiring experienced, qualified coaches and staff, while at the same time cutting programs and resources for students. It's frustrating watching tuition costs remain high while equipment, opportunities, and overall program quality continue to suffer. The increasing church influence has also significantly changed the atmosphere of the school. Many families, myself included, have questioned the decision to place so much authority and financial responsibility in the hands of individuals like Fred, whose background and past business dealings have raised concerns within the community. What was especially upsetting was the abrupt closure of the high school, which left many parents scrambling to figure out where to place their children with very little notice or support. Shortly afterward, the church immediately took over the former high school classrooms, which only reinforced what many families had already been fearing -- that the long-term priority was shifting away from education and toward church expansion onto the school property. At the same time, several critical administrative positions have either been eliminated or consolidated, placing even more pressure and responsibility on the few staff members still trying to hold everything together. Morale appears low, turnover has increased, and the overall structure feels increasingly unstable. Many parents stayed because they believed the promises being made, but over time the disconnect between those promises and reality became difficult to ignore. Sadly, the focus no longer seems to be centered on the students, and the school now feels like a system barely holding itself together.
