    Beautiful sights

My hubby and I love walking through Little Italy.... Always great vibes whether you visit during the day or night. The smell of urine in certain areas can be a bit overwhelming. Especially during the day when the sun is out (be prepared)..... Hopefully the city of San Diego has plans to take care of sanitation. It would help our tourism. Over all, it's still a nice place to visit. Very authentic Italian vibes.

In downtown San Diego the street is blocked off for the farmers market. It stretches several blocks uphill. You can check out all the vendors going up the hill turn around and go to the opposite vendors on the other side of the street. There are artists and bread cheeses anything you can think of fruits, specialize cookies, baked goods, meat, eggs plants even jewelry. Very eclectic place to visit.

Little Italy was *truly* the perfect spot to stay as first-time visitors to San Diego. We were central to so much by staying in the La Pensione. The farmer's market was right outside on Saturday, and there were dozens of top-tier restaurants and bars within short walking distance. I'm so glad we stayed in this neighborhood over Gaslamp, as that was on my radar too but sounded like it may have been too wild. We didn't have a car, so parking wasn't a problem, and public transportation was close by. It was also easy to call for a Lyft. I also appreciated how close it was to the airport. I'd absolutely stay in Little Italy again in the future if the price permits!

The wife and I came here in 2018 and liked it so much that we returned. Thus, I decided to update my review. This time in 2025, I avoided food poisoning and did not go back to the restaurant that made me deathly ill in 2018. It is still open and still serves gelato. My impression this time was much more favorable. There are so many restaurants to choose from, it is hard to imagine how we made our choices last time. It's a pizza lover's dream. I think you could eat pizza at a different restaurant every day for half a year. There are cute little shops and food stores that sell Italian foods and pasta. The Little Italy is quite large, I think larger than the one in NYC, so you can spend a lot of time walking, eating and drinking, and people watching.

Hello August!! Needed an update since I've been staying here since April. This place has everything in close proximity - food, charm, views, and just enough action and may I say chaos to keep things interesting. Loving the weekly Farmers Market on Wednesday and Saturdays aka the heart of the neighborhood and where I accidentally blow my grocery budget on locally grown mushrooms and artisanal hummus. Your girl is addicted! It draws visitors from all over and locals. My wallet cries but zero regrets. Locals and tourists rave about local wine bars, fitness studios, pasta anything, expresso bars, rooftop eateries, craft cocktails, and yummy vegan finds! Love how my gym is a block away, near the breezy waterfront, and a lot of people and dog watching! Pros: waterfront views that feels like a vacay, walking paradise to keep me active and ditching the car, iconic farmers market (go early to beat the crowds!), endless bougie coffee shops, foodie fantasy from Italian to plant-based eats, regular events, pop-ups, and live music. There's no chance to be bored. Cons: Parking (if you know you, you know) so just uber, rent of course, weekend noise can get lively so may be an issue if you're a light sleeper, and not much green space for doggies. Whether you're just stopping by for a weekend or making this place home, Little Italy delivers big. Pro tip: Bring comfy shoes, stretchy pants, and your appetite! You might need all three. Just saying. :)

Great place to get your steps in, explore restaurants, shops and bars/breweries. So many delicious eats! Con: very limited parking. Some parts of little Italy; you can see the view of the ocean.

10-18-2025 It's a lot of fun when you go on Saturdays (farmers' market, 8am to 2pm) with many variety of food; my fav was Tamale, the best in town! I went during Bella Vita Fest; I had a blast enjoying food, music & dancing, chalk art and more : ) What a place to be! Btw, the convenient form of transportation to get there is to take the trolley; you don't have to deal with parking.

Little Italy is such a charming community, my husband enjoyed exploring the small businesses. If you're planning to visit be mindful of parking, and arrive hungry as the restaurants and cafes are endless. We enjoyed our visit, and highly recommend!

We love walking around Little Italy!! Rich culture and a chic urban district! The main thoroughfare of Little Italy is India Street. Mulberry Street is another one. There is lots of Italian restaurants, trendy cafes, sweet treats, shopping, and more scattered all around. There's hotels, condos, art galleries all nestled in the area as well. It's also a short walk to the water scene! That's a whole other review! If you're energetic, Seaport Village is another hike! ;) Overall, we enjoyed walking all around Little Italy. It's a great area to explore new things and people watch. ;) The farmer's market is a must if you've got the time. The evening time is very

The streets of this unique area are lined with Italian pastry shops, coffee houses, and restaurants, giving it a truly Italian feel. Compared to many Americans, who often dress casually in T-shirts and flip-flops, Italians have a better sense of style. It's a bit dirty around here, and you often have to watch out for dog poop. Frankly, areas like Taipei's Da'an, Xinyi, and Zhongshan districts are all better than this.

Buongiorno! I came here to take in the sights and take some pictures of the legendary Little Italy sign. We don't have a proper Little Italy in LA, but having grown up outside of Boston. I'm use to good pizzerias and Italian restaurants. It was nice to see a lively Italian-American area in the city. Although, it's got nothing on North End in Boston or Little Italy in NYC. It was not bad! I wish we had more time to check out the area. Next time, we will have to check out a pizzeria and some other businesses.

This neighborhood is a must see if you are in San Diego! There are tons of restaurants, shops, statues, and walkable parts of town that are absolutely amazing. I had a great time here today!

Little Italy in San Diego, CA is such a lively, inviting neighborhood. Lots of wonderful restaurants, markets, and shops. I visited this area on Sunday, 1/26/25, around 6 PM. I was able to take pictures by the Little Italy Sign. I loved how the sign lit up at night. I also had the pleasure of eating at Ironside Fish & Oyster. The indoor ambiance was beautiful, the service was impeccable and the food was dynamite. Overall, the restaurant provided a pleasant dining experience. Parking was quite challenging, especially considering that it was the weekend. It took me a bit of time to successfully find a place to park. I discovered a nearby public parking lot, which offered a 2-hour window for $25. The price point was not too shabby and the walk was super close to the neighborhood. Overall, this place is worth visiting while in San Diego.

Given the right conditions, you can see a distinct green spot above the sun's upper limb, that usually only lasts for no longer than two seconds. It is even more rare, the green flash can resemble a green ray shooting up from the sunset or sunrise point. This sculpture is the work of Malcolm Jones and is dedicated to that phenomenon, but it in no way aids you of viewing. You will find it on the Mission Beach boardwalk. The piece is made of a solid cast acrylic archway that is supported by two concrete pillars. There is also a bronze plaque describing the green flash phenomenon located on the sculpture and another title plaque. It was made in 2002 and is in fair shape, especially considering its age. Some has put stickers on it and the plaques are show signs of corrosion. It is unique and I actually learned something new in the process. It definitely sticks out. I have come to the terms that I will probably not ever see a green flash. It takes masterful planning, precise timing, and patience. I have 2 of the 3 (you can figure out which one I am missing). Parking here is simple. There is a free parking lot right by it. You can park, get out and talk a closer look. Well, as with most sculptures that I have visited and reviewed, this is not a long stop. I was there less than 5 minutes. So, you may want to consider making this stop part of a larger itinerary to maximize your time and trip. The beach, a park, and an amusement park are in walking distance if you are looking for ideas.
