New construction is popping up amongst the charmer Normal Heights classic homes, but does not take away from the views. Great place for photography or just learning a different view of the city layout below. Qualcom stadium looks like a dollhouse below and it's really intense. I hear there used to be benches and grass up on the hill before the homes were built, but with all developments, that goes away. We came here around 7 PM, so around prime time for lights. There were a couple houses with lights, but it's really spread out and not really as impressive as some of the other neighborhoods I'm accustomed to in the 626 nor like the neighborhoods in northern San Diego that my friend and I saw on our way back up from our trip. There was a group on golf cart zooming through the neighborhood, so at some point it used to be a thing, but not so much anymore. Aside from how fancy the houses look normally, there may have been 2 houses that were unique, the others were a bit standard.

The bastions of Ocean Beach Elementary and Sacred Heart Academy are right there. There is the Ocean Beach Park & Recreation Center-where generations of children have played and hung out. The hippie haven of the Children's Energy Center-a daycare like no other is nearby and there are other Church-related daycares close to it all. A small, passive park attached to the other side of the Ocean Beach Park & Rec Center alley-the Saratoga Kid's Park is a gathering spot for lots of local kids who come up with their parents in strollers, trikes, bikes or simply on foot. On the weekends, the Park is overrun with them and the benches and picnic tables get quite a workout too. The Jungle Gym and swings are only a few years old- the Park was recently refurbished and freshened up with new equipment. What's nice about the Kiddie Playground there-it doesn't look ghetto or like a hang-out for punky teens. The Park & Rec must maintain it since there is no graffiti or trash. The only time it's gross is when the perpetually-flaky OB dog-owners bathroom their dogs in the sand or lawn area. Otherwise, a perfect spot to roll up with the kids and let them run around till they get hungry or tired-or preferably both! Which could only mean blessed words to hear, which are: NAP TIME!

The heritage, the history and that 1888 old town feels is super captivating. The restaurants and shops are always fun to explore. Tons to offer from boutiques to bargains and local eats to treats, there is something for everyone! Additionally, the walkability to "ALL the things" is convenient, beneficial and easy. Indulged in lobster roll from Lobster West which was so delicious & had a feature favorite (coconut/chocolate) ice cream from MooTime Creamery! On most of my San Diego visits, I always make a trip to the beach. This one makes a memorial impression. It's so sophisticated, peaceful and pleasant! Plus, it's unique fun finds of some stunning special sea shells is a reminder of its iconic charm. It's just truly a pleasure to come here even if it's just to simply watch the waves of the bay at ALL times of the day! Don't miss out on visiting the stunning Hotel del Coronado. If you are a non guest, you still have options. You can choose to walk thru the property OR you have the option to purchase a "Day Pass" via ResortPass (check their website site) for access to the pool, beach daybeds, and cabanas. I tried to locate it by the pictures that were on here, but they were wrong. After a long search that spanned about 2 days, I was able to find it. I will help you out, if you want to find it. It is located right across the street from 1083 Sunset Cliff Blvd. You can't miss it. Me and my assistant were able to find it in the dark. It is the one covered in bird crap. You cannot mistake it. There is a lot of places to park and get a good look. I would suggest getting there well before sunset because the parking fills up with all the sunset gazers. The rock had quite a few birds on it and is known as a surf break that produces 3 different waves. I do not know what attracts the birds to that specific rock. Some tried to explain it to me, but it was way over my head. I know that it is not much, but it is the little things that matter. It is not a long stop, but definitely worth a visit. A visit here should probably be paired with a visit to Sunset Cliff Park and a sunset viewing. I am really glad that I was able to make it here.

Sunset Cliffs is nice to take in the Pacific Ocean and then you see this big rock with a tone of bird poop and you can't help but stare at the eyesore.
