I called Little Moses Locksmith Service because our front-door doorknob was not working properly and I was hopeful they could fix it. When the doorknob was turned, the latch wouldn't completely pull back, causing the door to stick when you tried to open it. I called the service number and explained the problem. They said someone would come within 3-4 hours and that I had to pay a $29 service fee. I agreed and set the appointment. An hour later, Moses called me and asked me to explain the problem to him, which I did. He said he would arrive within the quoted timeframe, which he did. When Moses arrived, I told him again what was wrong and he said that it was a common problem and the whole doorknob/lock needed to be replaced. I was surprised with what he said because he never touched the door or lock. He apparently knew he couldn't fix the doorknob/lock when I called to book the appointment but kept that information to himself. He was at our house for only 30 seconds before he had completed his visit. He never took his hands out of his pockets. Knowing I was stuck paying the $29 fee for this "service visit", I asked him if he could replace the doorknob/lock. He said he didn't have the parts with him but that he could do it for $275. I told him that was too expensive for the job and declined. He interjected, asking, if I knew how to make my keys match my other locks after I change the doorknob/lock. I said no, and asked him to explain it to me. He said he wouldn't tell me, because that's what he does for a profession. I was pretty shocked. After I paid him the $29, he gave me his card and said to call him if I changed my mind. The whole thing was less than 2-3 minutes and he was gone. In my opinion, Moses scammed us out of a service fee, for a service request that he knew he wasn't going to fix. And the fact that he tried to bait us with the little tidbit about lock matching was outrageous. (As a follow up to our story...We did end up going to HomeDepot and found the same doorknob/lock that we had on our door for only $85, which we installed ourselves without a problem. We even matched keys following the very simple directions that came with the lock.) read more

I've had the pleasure of working with Moses, Danny and team a few times. They've done a deadbolt replacement, reinforced the door jam by installing a plate, and replacing a mailbox lock. The original lock and door handle on my unit were a good 15+ years old and he updated them to something that's gonna last. Moses was quick at coming and getting the job done however a $29.00 service but $75.00 to pop a door loose was ridiculous. Part of what's wrong with this world taking advantage of people when you should be empathetic. I don't mind paying for services rendered however $104.00 for less than 2 minutes work, and I might be exaggerating with two minutes. I'll make sure next time I'm aware of the total cost. So beware of low service fees because chances are the labor is expensive. Also asked Moses if he was the owner of the company and he said no, we'll look at the name looks like Moses to me.
