My friend and I took our mom's out to brunch here along with our kids. I will start with the positives. The deal of the day was orange citrus salmon over couscous and vegetables, being snap peas. Delicious! Everything was flavourful. I cleaned my plate. I also enjoyed the lavendar lemon drop. The bartender knows how to make drinks! My meal was good! My mom had the ratatouille with added shrimp. She finished it but mentioned it was too heavy on the cumin. She had the lavendar lemon cake that she thought was decent. Now my daughter, who is 12 and a very picky eater didn't want anything off the menu but I figured she would eat the cheese and pepperoni plate on the kids meal. However, because she was not 10 the waitress said she couldn't have it. That's fine, I will respect the rules of the place but I was taken a back by their unwillingness to even have me pay for it but just charge her as an adult. My child is literally a chicken nuggets and french fry child. She eats nothing outside of her safe foods. She was fine just sitting there but geesh, they were really strict about this $6 dollar kid menu item. Eventually the waitress asked the manager I suppose and I was told exactly "we will only allow it for this one time". Well that pretty much sealed the deal. I was pretty sure there wouldn't be a second time. As stated, my meal was great. I'm thankful they had the special because honestly there wasn't anything on the menu that stood out for me. If it weren't for the special, I probably would have had the soup of the day, tomato cream basil. Our server just did not make me feel as if she either enjoyed working there or she enjoyed serving us. I'm not sure which one but I won't be back to find out. She just didn't come across as friendly, but Cecilia who delivered our bread was smiling and friendly. We paid, we tipped, we left! This shop offers a variety of experiences: a cafe with lunch and desserts, shopping for home decor and personal items, bushels of flowers and lavender, or goat milk soaps and lotions. I couldn't believe how large this space was! Every time I turned the corner there was another room to explore. I love crystals and one room was dedicated to them, both individually and in jewelry. The bowls of rolled stones shared the names and how they're used for meditation practices. Along with a few crystals, I purchased a necklace and my best friend left with some soaps. No time to enjoy the cafe but I'll definitely come back. My guess is we need to get there earlier in the day for better selections. The owners of this shop take care of a farm and its animals, bringing in the lavender bunches. They've also been supportive sponsors of Shelby County Theater. Fun little shop that has something for everyone! This was my first time visiting LML and was impressed with just how many things you can use lavender for. The shop has gifts of all varieties such as spices, lotions, candles, sprays and even a cafe, a plant store ! My friend and I went here for lunch and we were seated at a table for two. The air conditioning was very cold and windy so I asked Jason, who is one of the owners, if we could sit at a different table. He stared at me like he could burn a hole through me. He was like obviously upset that I requested to sit at a different table. There were only tables for four left. I asked him is he OK with us requesting a different table and he did let us sit there. He wasn't really happy with it but he did let us sit someplace else. Lucky us! I've never had anyone ever in my entire life stare at me in such a horrible way. In the heart of Shelbyville on Main Street is the sweetest little shop Little Mount Lavender Company. FYI: If you can't parallel park just keep circling around like I do!! You'll know you've made it when you see the purple horse! As soon as you open the doors you're senses are encompassed with a feeling of calmness. It smells absolutely magnificent. No words can really do it justice. The atmosphere is homey, classic with a parisian flair. Put it this way, if their decorator could come style my home I would be over the moon. It's gorgeous! Now to some of the goodies. Little Mount Lavender offer a long list of products. I honestly wish I had more time today to take my time and roam more. The candles are my favorite. They are soy candles that all showcase Lavender. My go-to is Lavender Chamomile. It's clean fresh smell is so relaxing when I'm trying to get my zen on. Candles, essential oils, tea (I must go back and do a separate review of the tea, pillows and phenomenal artwork by local artists are just a few of the wonderful things you can make your own. I can't leave out that the staff were the sweetest. It felt like they were my kin, sweet as pie! Speaking of pie.... they have a Bakery!!! It's so cute!!! I felt like a kid in a candy store. It was pleasing to the eye and my stomach. I purchased cherry sweet rolls, cinnamon bread, chocolate brioche, a piece of lime tart (so so good) and candles. I had a half day at work the other day and took the opportunity to visit this place and I'm so, so glad I did! First off, it smells heavenly. But secondly, the workers were all so nice & helpful. I'm gluten free and the bakery offers loads of options which is wonderful in a smaller town like Shelbyville. I got way too many desserts but I'm not mad about it at all! I just absolutely love this little local restaurant. It's basically garden to table style and oh so amazing! The scent of lavender is heavenly and the tomato soup taste like a fabulous garden herb spaghetti sauce with cheese in it. I love the horseradish cheese, soooo my favorite. I've bought the lavender honey and I put it on baked Brie and in my spicy mustard for organic chicken tenders. The ushers are fabulous, love Hanky the dog and ohhhhh....the lavender lemonade....to die for! Only thing I'd ask them to change is the size of the $4.00 to go cup for the lavender lemonade. It's way to small for the price and, I end up having to buy 2 or 3 to have a full glass. We've gifted several charcuterie boards to people from here and have sent a lot of people so far to them. Unfortunately we had a bad experience here with our lunch. Our order and another table's order were mixed up and we were unaware that the salad we received was not the one that was ordered. We realized this when the other table received their order and tried to explain the error. The server wasn't interested in the explanation and rudely remarked, "Do you want it out not?" My friend responded, "Well excuse me!" Soon after the owner came out and asked us not to speak rudely to his servers. He didn't seem interested in our side and the rude remark his server initially made. He said he stands by his workers. This was all handled poorly. He should have asked us if there was a problem and listened to the us, the customer. This was not the case and it was insulting to us, as diners. The waitress who took our order was wonderful and said the server was having a rough time. We told her that she was wonderful and should not feel bad for another's actions. If only the owner had been as gracious. We will not support this business in the future and I doubt the owner cares. read more

My wife and I visited this gem today., Sat Sept 9, 2023 around 12:00 noon. Outstanding food experience. Having said that the same cannot be said about the customer experience. The 2 female servers in the main dining room were very rude. In 2 occasions before selecting a table had us on a cramped 2 seat table by the wall. When we complained she rudely told us that you guys select tables accordingly, given that the room was half empty. After a bit of back and forth she agreed to sit us on a bigger table. MidwY through our magnificent meal, kiddos to the chef, an Asian couple came in and experienced the same uncomfortable situation as us. After complaining to the same server she told them the same she told us. They were so insulted that after a few minutes of sitting down they abruptly left. I make this observation only because the 2 couples were professionals, and in search for great food. That you have, but unless you train your servers to be a bit more tactful with your guests, they will not come back. read more

Service was sub par. Very busy on a Saturday with limited menu as they apparently do not serve hot food items on their menu. Server with nose ring/spike did not accompany child with kids items because he was over 10 or provide items he could eat or would enjoy just simply no he cannot order that. I would say food looks pretty good (very pricey) but would not come with children as there isn't options for them to eat. They need a lot of work in the hospitality department on dealing with paying customers. It just isn't a pleasant environment as the workers are outright rude. Note: The problem is not with the menu or getting a item it's just with people being kind and trying to help others. Yes I acknowledge that everyone has bad days. But Some people are picky eaters and others are not. Trying to help people is a choice. This establishment just chooses not to make that choice. We are very kind people and nobody made a scene while there I am just leaving this review as the experience we had. It is not hard to make a dish that is on the menu for somebody who is hungry and been waiting for an hour for a table. Nothing asked was extreme and we were willing to pay extra. This place is glorious! It is an oasis, truly. First of all, the scent of lavender greets you as you walk in and immediately felt like I could just relax a little and breathe. A sweet sweet dog was hanging out in the lobby. At first, I thought he might be a service dog but as it turns out, he is an employee's (maybe owner's?) dog and he is just as friendly as can be. I may or may not have set on the floor to pet him. : ) This place has something for everyone. All products I purchased were of high quality and nicely packaged. You can find farm-to-store candles, sachets, essential oils, local art, diffusers, all kinds of bath and body supplies (for men and women both), kitchen supplies, teas, lavender infused jams, olive oils, and much much more. There is a lovely bakery and cafe that I did not get a chance to visit, but I plan to make a return visit to check those out. I have been recommending this place to everyone I know. It is such a gem! What a little gem of a place in Simpsonville. It has everything imaginable including a wonderful cafe with fabulous food and desserts as well as a wonderful bakery. My friend and I had lunch there on a Thursday and by the time we were finished eating every table was full! I had a wonderful chicken dish in a cream sauce with green beans and asparagus that was delicious and came with fresh fruit and perfect baguette rounds with a great cream cheese spread that was so good that I bought some to take home. The chef came out to check on everyone's meals and all said how great it was! He uses an Herbs de' Provence seasoning which is perfection. Lavender is used is many ways including in the lavender lemonade that we had. The desserts are great and it was hard to decide on one. I had the lavender/lemon cake with a lemon custard that was lighter than air. We will definitely return and bring other friends along for a very special outing. Little Mount Lavendar is now charging for $3.00 for a glass of water, regardless of what is ordered in their cafe. I understand that they don't want people to take up a table and order nothing but I really think that I shouldn't have to pay for water to go with my meal. I talked to one of the owners and he basically said that he didn't care and that other restaurants charge for water. The food is good BUT service and owner attitude is far from good. read more

WORST lunch experience EVER! It's like when you were a child and you had to eat whatever was served! There are 3 choices on the menu: a $38 chartuterie board, a $12.50 bowl of soup, or an $18 salad! NO soft drinks, and, when asked, they refuse to give you salt and pepper, and the service is slow! And don't dare ask to split a dish, unless you want to pay $5 MORE, and then you have to divide it yourself! A friend ordered a cookie that was so hard, if she'd thrown it and hit someone, it would've caused damage!! She risked breaking a tooth , biting into it! Totally regret not leaving when we saw this so called menu, that, by the way, doesn't say you're charged if splitting something. OH, I almost forgot to say that there's NO choice of salad dressing or soup.. I couldn't eat what I ordered, it was awful. I hated this so called restaurant, and hope you take this warning to heart! They have everything Lavender, soaps, lotions, candles, bath bombs, essential oils and more! The bakery in the back looked delicious! Didn't eat in there today but planning on a future trip to check it out. The girl at the register greeted us when we walked in and gave us a brief history of how it all began.
