I eventually settled for a classmate who cut hair in the comfort of his own dorm room. Admittedly, the cuts were terrible and (un)fortunately for me, the transient nature of college meant that he had to leave upon graduation. My hair went wild. I looked absolutely unkempt at all times until a friend bit the bullet and drove me to East Chicago. I was warmly introduced to the Infamous Harbor Barbers. Noel cut my hair that day and continued to do so every two weeks for the next 5 years. Even after I moved to Washington DC for grad school, I still visited EC and made sure my hair and beard was extra nappy for the perfect cut at Harbor Barbers. I haven't found any other barber shop as meticulous, affordable and as professional as Harbor Barbers in Washington DC. Beto and Noel are not only my barbers, they're my brothers. They've towed my college beater car out of the snow. They've given me life advice. They've given me cuts so fresh, I'm pretty sure they're partly responsible for some of my salacious encounters with cute girls at my alma mater. No matter how weird your hair is, make the trip to EC and tell Beto or Noel that Ike sent you.

Today is the 16th and I still haven't received a sorry or explanation for the no show. Communication and professionalism goes a long way! So Matt has to hold down the shop. I boycotted this barber shop because 3 times I went there for a cut, the place was closed. Now Matt has a great co worker and things seem to be back to great service. Both barbers can get you in and out fast, while doing a great cut. From my last cut there, I have to give them 100%. I don't think they take credit cards, so just have some cash on hand.

I arrived there 25 minutes before the appointment and sat in the waiting room until my appointment time. At my appointment time, the barber that I had made the appointment for and who had confirmed the appointment, actually took another person in the waiting room instead of me. He gave a flimsy excuse about trying to get in contact with me to explain but I found no evidence of that being true. He also said that he was busy later so he couldn't cut my hair after he finished the guy that he had taken in place of me, in my appointed time slot. I wound up just leaving the shop and you can bet your backside, I won't be back! So if you're fond of wasting time, money and being pissed off that you and your confirmed appointment time are being ignored because the barber has double or triple booked his appointments, rush to J's Barber shop.
