Not all potatoes are created equal.
I remember with great clarity the day, last summer, when I first ate a potato from Little's - the flavor of the German Butterball was so rich, full, and... well, buttery, that it simply coated my mouth with warm, smooth and creamy goodness. Looking at my plate, I knew I hadn't made enough.
It is the unique taste of the true potato - the not-frozen, fresh-from-the-source, taste - that really drives me to rave about these small earthen balls of satisfaction.
I'd never heard of German Butterballs before. Nor had I "Yellow Finns," "Russian Bananas," "White Roses," or "Peruvian Blues". Mr. Little organizes each of his offerings in big, brown cardboard boxes, and there are so many to choose from. They line the front of his stand, inviting your attention.
