One of the best experiences I have had recently! 5* Living in the east coast apple picking was a favourite fall activity but since I moved to the west coast I have been missing that! We finally found this place and were so excited to try it! It was my first visit to the area and it was absolutely gorgeous to drive out there. The orchard is lovely and the staff are so kind, attentive and informative. I called ahead to check that they have parking on site and that helped alot! When you get there staff helps with parking and then you go get the U pick supplies and make your way to the orchard. The green apples were limited but we found alot of red ones. The experience was fabulous! After picking we paid for the apples and got some fresh organic apple slushies along with some sweet treats! Absolutely 10/10 We enjoyed this in the orchard and it was really charming! Highly recommend this specially with kids! My daughter has been wanting to go apple picking and we had the day to finally take her. She had a blast! About a 90 minute drive give or take from San Francisco. The last few miles takes you through winding roads where you're greeting with a sign to enter the farm. There is a "Start here" sign to the left of the barn where you grab your supplies (apple picker/bag) or you can bring your own. I think it's open for anyone to grab. From there you walk past the main parking lot to the apple trees. Most of the apples are reachable for most adults, you'll need the apple picker for a few apples higher up. When you're done just take what you picked to the produce shack. They'll weight what you picked and you pay per pound. They also have apple juice, slushies and other apple products for sale. Highly recommend the slushies! There's also a small hay maze for kids. They have bathrooms, which is like an upgraded port a potty. Overall I think the experience was awesome. I'll say that it was annoying seeing people eat the apples before they paid for them. Or pick apples then decide they didn't want them and throw them on the ground. Just inspect the apple before you pick it. But i'll say that some apples fell while picking other apples To the reviewer who had to wait said "I would wait for her to come back", then complain that you had to wait... lol. We initially came here to pick apples from the orchard. Unfortunately we came here on their last day of the picking season. most apples were already picked or eaten through by bugs and birds so we barely could get any. That said, I'm a huge fan of apple cider so I bought a gallon from them. The cider was incredibly flavorful. Came on a Sunday and parking was easy- there's a huge lot towards the back / near the exit. It was towards the end of the season so most of the trees were picked through, but we were still able to pick more than enough. Staff is friendly - they provide you with the necessary tools (apple picker and bag) and are responsive via facebook messenger! They appear to be dog friendly and there's picnic tables you can use. Finding an orchard that allowed pets wasn't that easy so was super excited to find this ranch. We drove here from the east bay about 1.5 hours taking some pretty interesting backroads. Once we got to the ranch there were parking attendants letting you know where to park and there were nice ladies at the front explaining the process and giving out apple loaner bags. Along the orchard there were picnic tables and some shade. We even saw a cute bday party set up there. The apple cider is delicious especially the kinda slushy one! Apples were inexpensive at $2/pound. The apple catchers can be shared with other families so just look for someone coming out of the orchard and pass it along when you are finished as well. Yesterday my boyfriend, daughter and I spotted their booth at the Davis Farmer's Market in Central Park, which ran 8AM-1PM! I purchased a quart of their famous award winning Apple-A-Day 100% Cold Pressed Apple Juice. Had a fantastic time picking apples with my wife - we came towards the end of the season so many of the trees were picked through fairly thoroughly, but we still ended up picking 8.5lbs of delicious apples. It was fun, parking was easy, folks working there were very friendly - they give you a bag and apple picker once you check in, and after you're done they give you a to-go bag to carry the treasures home. My only feedback was that I wish they had a separate line for paying for your apples, vs a combined line for those that wanted to order snacks, apple cider, and other made to order drinks. Overall I would definitely come back - maybe earlier in the season! What a fun activity! While a bit of a trek, Apple-a-day was a unique experience outside of Sebastopol. Apples are $2/pound and they give you picking bags and fruit pickers for the fruit on the higher branches. We came towards the end of the season so we had to trek pretty far into the orchard but there was still tons of fruit to pick. All in all we were there for about an hour max. If an "apple-a-day keep the doctor away" then sign me up for a year's supply of Ratzlaff Ranch's apple juice. Especially nowadays, we need to feed our bodies with healthy nutrients more than ever! While some politicians think injecting disinfectant in our bodies is a smart way to stay healthy during the Coronavirus, I think I'm gonna stick with juicing. And nobody (and I mean NOBODY) makes better apple juice than Ratzlaff Ranch. You obviously can buy it directly from the source. But if you don't happen to be in the Sebastopol area, you can find their juice in the refrigerated section of most local grocery stores (Safeway, Nugget Market, Whole Foods, etc.) and Farmer's Markets. I'm always amazed by how inexpensive it is, too. One pint (16 oz) of their fresh, cold-pressed apple juice is usually around $2. That's a helluva lot cheaper than what you'd pay at a juice shop. I can't say enough about this wonderful little family operated apple orchard. My friend invited me to join her for an afternoon of apple picking. I was surprised by how much fun everyone had; the kids as much as the adults. As we walked up to the sales booth, we were welcomed and provided with some helpful tips and instructions to maximize our time out at the orchards. Once we were equipped with our apple picking tools and sacks we sent on our way. The apples were abundant so it did not take long to pick a ten pound bag. After snapping a few pics of the beautiful scenery and of the kids, we ventured back to the booth to weigh our harvest. The booth also sells some delicious fresh pressed apple juice and a few baked treats. I left with some wonderful crips apples which are perfect for a snack, pies and apple sauce. Apple-A-Day everyday please! I had their apple juice from Whole Foods months ago and ever since I've been hooked. Now there is always a jug inside my fridge. Before Apple-A-Day, I wasn't even an apple juice fan. I never understood the craze, until now. Overall, their juice tastes great. It has the perfect amount of sweetness and the only ingredients are apples. Once you open it, you do have to drink it within a few days before it starts to ferment, but hey, it's all natural. To get the perfect glass of juice, be sure to shake the jug before you pour it, to enjoy it at its fullest. I live 1/4 mile from this apple farm, had not yet been this year to pick up some cider, so I stopped in today. The stand had one person working there who was just about to help customers to their car with their apples, so I said I would wait for her to come back. The cars are just about 50 yards from the stand and sight lines are clear. I assumed she would give them the help they needed and then come back to take care of me. No such luck. She chose to linger and chat with them and did not acknowledge that I was waiting or say she would be right with me. It went on for several minutes until I realized I didn't want her cider anymore. Can't wait to stop back at Hale's on Gravenstein Highway where the always friendly, helpful welcome from one of the family is one of the best parts of buying the cider in the first place. You can pick and purchase apples by the pound, with two varietals on the ranch. They provide picker tools and large sacks, but bring your own cute wooden basket if you're looking for something Instagram-worthy. Family apple picking on a small family farm on a gorgeous fall day. Not sure it gets a lot better than this. Driving in, the entry is that of a dusty small farm. Definitely nothing that is going to wow you. But just remember you are there for the trees and the family farm atmosphere. We brought along a picnic, and although they didn't already have tables out, the kind owner got a couple out for us and set them up in the shade. We then spent an hour or two picking Roman Beauty and Golden Delicious apples. No ladders needed; the trees were plenty short that even my younger boys could reach. The Roman Beauty trees were more plentiful and the fruit looked fabulous. Cost was $1 per pound; quite a deal. We also tried their apple juice on the way out. I don't normally even like apple juice, but wow this stuff is good. *Caveat* This was our first family apple picking excursion, so we don't really have any basis for comparison. It was very fun and the owners were quite friendly. It was also a very "no frills" experience... so just worth understanding what you are getting into. read more

This was a terrific spot for a "social distance" picnic lunch with my girlfriend. You might want to know that the picnic tables are taken up quickly. We arrived at 11:45 with a reservation for the u-pick apples, but that was not a guarantee of a table for our picnic. We got the last table and we were lucky to get it. There were a lot of families with small children present. The orchard is at least several acres and the tables are spaced out all over it, so wear your comfy-dusty shoes. Now let's talk about the juice. It is heaven! Very reasonably priced. Mixes well with vodka. We sat there all afternoon eating and drinking and had a great time. It is a U-Pick Apple farm and the apples and trees were healthy and beautiful. They had Golden Delicious and Rome varieties. Apple picking in Sebastopol. This is a real working apple farm with real home town people. They have three varieties of apples, Gravensteins, yellow delicious, and Roman Beauties. The Gravensteins are only available in August, but they had plenty of Romans and some Yellows still in late October. Pick yourself and only $1.50 per pound. They have a beautiful persimmon tree. Picnic tables. The very best thing about this property is the home made juice. You can buy pint, half gallon and gallon sized Apple juice. Delicious and cold. We had a fun time apple-picking at Apple-A-Day Ratzlaff Ranch! Doesn't seem as well known as other places, but trust me, this place was an apple bonanza! The friendly lady (Marlene) gave us each a mailman style bag that we loaded up with Golden Delicious and Rome apples (all that were in season this late). Cash or check only. Apples were $1/lb! And so delicious!! They also sell apple joice but sadly we were out of cash from having spent too much at another place. We definitely should have come here first!!! Let me start by saying, "they make the best apple juice I have ever tasted." It's my favorite! The juice taste sweet, a bit sour at the end, and most importantly fresh. As if it was freshly squeezed right their for you. I found their apple juice at my local organic store in Healdsburg, CA. The store is called Shelton. It well worth the price.
