My wife and I stopped in on a Friday night with an hour wait, which is understandable for Madison. However, we ended up waiting an extra 40 min to be seated, and our wait was not even acknowledged by the staff when we were seated. The service felt very rushed and dismissive of our needs throughout the night. The food had very little flavor and was cold when it came out. The ambiance of the restaurant was visually pleasing, but it was extremely crowded with people who were waiting to be seated and the entire staff were extremely rushed and it felt very unpleasant. The only redeeming part of the night was the bartender, Mariana, who was helpful to make sure we got our table asap and took the time to have a conversation with us despite the busy nature of the night. read more

This place is bomb! They have all of my American Chinese favorites but just a touch more contemporary and refined. Love that they have delicious vegetarian and vegan options (yes impossible potstickers) and NA mocktails (yum guava kombucha cooler) as well. Didn't expect wing night when I arrived on Monday. Landed in Singapore flavored wings that look super dry, but blew my mind! Sweet, savory, tangy with a lovely turmeric-curry dusting. Careful, this will stain your fingers. Cucumber salad was dynamite crunchy, plentiful and a lovely semisweet soy dressing. Happy I got the garlic bok choy....will skip the cashew chicken next time. If you're looking for well executed Chinese-American favorites in a cozy dining room with great tiki drinks then this is the place for you. The crab rangoon was handmade and honestly the best I've had in years. Both chicken dishes were exceptionally good. The star of the show was the orange chicken spicy but I also absolutely loved my general tso. The sauce is thick, sweet, salty and savory. It's perfect. Haven't had anything else in Madison that delivers the comfort that Chinese-American food gives me. Ownership definitely cares about their product and it shows. Can't wait to go back! read more

I've finally found the best Chinese food place in town. We got lo mein, Singapore noodles, general Tso's chicken and spring rolls delivered and everything was delicious. Not gonna lie, it takes a lot for me to say something negative about a restaurant; I'm a huge foodie. Nice looking place, but the service was atrocious. The waiter took our order but then didn't put it in, and we ended up waiting over half an hour for our apps and entrees to come out. The place was empty. A dish was missing and they ended up having to put it in a to go box because it didn't come out with the rest. Also while we we were eating, mere seconds after I picked up the last bite off a plate, someone was running over to clear it without asking if I was finished. Lastly, we had asked for separate bills at the very start of our night and even after asking us for a second time after dinner, the host came back with the waiter saying they can't print off separate checks, and that we'd only be able to split the total cost. They didn't even provide an itemized receipt. Most likely won't be coming back here again. Mediocre and overpriced food. When I first tried Little Palace, I thought this place had some of the tastiest Chinese food in Madison. I thought that it was pricey for the small portions you get ($8 for like 10 pieces of green beans??), but the flavor of their classic dishes won me over. Their Lychee Lemonade was absolutely delicious and soon became my go-to drink whenever I went. I've been a regular ever since. However...I get the feeling something has changed in the past week. Maybe they got a new chef because everything tasted differently and not in a good way. The green beans were bland (absolutely no flavor), the noodles were SO salty, and the chicken was so tough. The lychee lemonade tasted like watered-down minute maid lemonade with just a drop of lychee. Completely different than all the other times I've tried it. They also no longer serve lunch on weekends. I'm really hoping it was just an off week for them, but if this is the lower quality we're getting now with the same expensive prices, I'll be sad but will be going elsewhere. read more

Wait staff was great, but some dishes were not good: moo shu pork was mostly cabbage, pork was served mixed in the cabbage slaw and hard to find, wraps for the slaw were so small that it was impossible to fold the ends I order to prevent the slaw mixture from falling out and much of the slaw was left when the wrapper were gone. We had a party of 5, which included 3 kids, ages between 2-10. Got there at 5:40pm. The table next to us sat down maybe 15-20 minutes after us. They got their food first and we noticed they ordered 3 of the same dishes, which were papaya salad, curry and pho. By 6:54pm, we received 2 rounds of drinks, and 3 appetizers, no entrees yet. The table next to us are almost done eating at this point. My 10 year old started complaining why they got their food first and said he's so hungry and let's go somewhere else. The owner made a comment "you know it takes time to cook when it gets busy, right" and that food should be out in 10 more minutes. Yes we know it takes time but why did the table next to us get their food first and they are almost done eating. She responded that maybe our server put in the order late. Even take out orders do not take an hour and a half! We paid for what we were served and left. Ordered Happy Wok instead. Happy Wok is always consistent and fast. Also, we asked for the papaya salad to be extra spicy, and mentioned 11 peppers spicy. It came with no spice at all. The server asked if we wanted chili oil "because that is what they use in papaya." Chili oil does not belong in papaya salad. It should be fresh Thai peppers. read more

I wasn't sure what to expect with an Americanized Chinese restaurant and everything we had was awesome. If you like spicy, the spicy wonton appetizer is great...I even boxed up the extra sauce to bring home. Kung Pao chicken will leave your lips tingling and belly fully, and the Singapore noodles balanced the heat of the other items nicely. Little Palace has the best Chinese food in Madison and maybe some of the best I've ever had. I can't recommend this spot enough - we've visited 3 times and each meal has been fantastic. Our 5 year old daughter loves the pork potstickers so much, she usually asks for a second order. The noodles, moo-shoo, and veggie dishes, are all absolutely delicious and you can tell made with such love. Everything comes out piping hot & is super flavorful. They also make great cocktails & serve wine and beer, plus some nice N/A options, too. On top of the incredible food, the ambiance is truly special. Our kids love all the decorations and the vibe inside is just so warm & inviting. Our servers have always been accommodating with our kids and have taken great care of us. Worst dining experience I have ever had! I was really looking forward to trying this place and was not deterred when I went on a Friday night asking for a table for 4 and they said it would be an hour wait...no problem! I got a call when the table was ready and we were seated immediately, luckily the place had mostly cleared out by the time we sat. The server was friendly and quickly took our drink orders, things were going great!... It was almost 8:30pm at this point and we were starving so we ordered some apps and were a little thrown off when the apps didn't come until 30 mins later, but still everything else was great. Fast forward to an HOUR later, we had not seen the server come back to our table at all and our food had not yet arrived. There were only about 4 tables left in the place and then the table next to us (who arrived 30 mins after us) got their food and we still did not have ours. I said something to the server, who seemed to be hiding from us at that point, and she said that 3 cooks had walked out in the past few days and they were short staffed. That didn't explain why the table next to us had gotten their food first, but we waited about 15 more minutes before we were fed up and asked for our checks. Suddenly our food came out ( AN HOUR AND A HALF later)! The server did not say sorry one single time and my friend expressed how upset we were, the server then offered us all a free shot. The server brought the shot and said it was a "house blend tequila", 3 of of the 4 of us took and all felt instantly sick. I went straight to the bathroom and projectile vomited, and I am a regular tequila drinker! It was so horrible and spicy in an unpalatable way. The 4th person gave hers to someone at the table next to us and he said it made him feel sick too! I swear they were trying to pull a prank on us for complaining about the food taking a ridiculous amount of time, and once again, not a single staff member apologized! Clearly something is not right that 3 cooks quit in a matter of days. It's a shame that it was such a bad experience too because the food wasn't bad at all. read more
