    yummy goods

The baked goods here are out of this world. They have so so many savory options too! We had a Ruben croissant, candied bacon, chocolate raspberry croissant and a savory scone. everything was so yummy. We didn't even wait to get in the car to raid the goody bags. They are under construction currently for an expansion I think. So the goods are confined to a small space as shown on the photo. But service and good are still amazing. So worth the calories!

A very small bakery with a lot of delicious baked goods! Friendly service too. After perusing the offerings I decided to go savory with ham and cheese croissant. So flaky! Warmed up upon request. Absolutely scrumptious served warm and extremely flaky. Just enough cheesy goodness. I'm sure the ambience of this spot is something but currently the patio is under construction. So, I look forward to visiting when that is done. Yummy cookies too. Left with a sourdough chocolate chip cookie and an oatmeal spice and raisin one. So good!!! Can't wait to go back. SYOY!

Little red hen is a cute local bakery in Whidbey where we stopped for breakfast on our way to deception pass. It was a small store where you could see them rolling the pastries in house! There was a good amount of outdoor seating but it was a little too windy when we went. I love that they had a ton of savory options in addition to the sweet ones since you don't always find those. All of the pastries looked so good we had a tough time deciding what to get. We asked for recommendations on one sweet and one savory and ended up trying the curry chicken hand pie and the marionberry danish (since it's a local berry). The curry chicken filling was well flavored and the danish was delicious. Both were solid recommendations and we loved the flakiness of the pastries so we got a cardamom pastry to go as well! We tried that one the next day so it wasn't as fresh but I liked the balance between the cardamom and the sweetness of the slightly caramelised base!

Came here on a day trip to Whidbey and the pastries were amazing! I'm still dreaming of the cardamom roll!!

ok i need everyone to hear me when i say this might be my favorite bakery in all of washington state. we got the cardamom roll, a ginger peach hand pie, and a sourdough boule and every single thing was perfection. like not "pretty good" perfection, actual real TRUE perfection. the sourdough especially. MOVE OVER ALL OTHER SOURDOUGH. i'm serious. it was moist and flavorful and had that perfect crust and that perfect chew and it was SO reasonably priced i actually did a double take. i've paid more for worse sourdough in seattle more times than i can count. the pastries?? oh my god the pastries. the cardamom roll was warm and fragrant and the hand pie was exactly the kind of thing you want to eat on a cozy island morning. i'm emotional about it. the staff were so sweet too, the whole place just has this wonderful warmth to it. if you're on whidbey and you skip red hen you are making a deeply unfortunate choice. go treat yourself!!!

A quality, quaint bakery with a fun selection! We tried the: 1. Cardamom roll: a strong cardamom flavor and my favorite of the bunch. Would probably pair nicely with some orange jam. 2. Ham and cheese croissant: tasty and what you'd hope for in a croissant with many beautiful, flaky layers. 3. Chocolate chip cookie: a solid and satisfying cookie, no complaints here. 4. Cheese-it: tasted like a white cheddar cheese-it with a tad bit of spice! 5. The Queen Amann special: the apricot jam on this was SO good! I thought all of the pastries had a similar, bread-like taste to them. That being said, I bet they make wonderful bread and would love to try that another time!

A must-stop if you're in Coupeville!!! It's a little shop, and everything is made fresh in-house. There might be a bit of a wait depending on when you go, but the line moves pretty quickly and it's totally worth it. This is more of a grab-and-go kind of spot, but there are a few seats and self-serve iced water outside. Their rosemary scone is probably the best one I've ever had. Not too sweet, and super flavorful. Don't miss this place!

A cool crisp Saturday morning and we were out for a drive on Whitney island. Stopping in Coupeville to wander around and we stumbled going Little Red Hen. While we initially were interested in coffee, we walked in to an active bakery with a small display counter. And everything looked and smelled amazing. So what did we do...sample several products of course. Cardamom roll, savory danish (smoked salmon, cream cheese, on an everything layered crust) and an apple streusel scone. Simple perfect. The cardamom roll was a cross between a kouign aman and a cinnamon roll - so good. The savory danish version of an everything bagel was well done. And the scone - exactly what a scone should be Just off the main street this is a must visit if in Coupeville.

We stopped here to pick up a small breakfast before going for a walk at the Price Sculpture Forest. We got there just a few minutes before open on a Saturday, and a line-up quickly formed behind us. I ended up with a Ham & Cheese Croissant, and it was frankly one of the best ones I've ever had. It was re-warmed, but still incredible flaky. A quality bakery that I would go back to. Note: it's takeout only, with outdoor tables if you want to stick around to eat.

    Cardamom bun: magic

Yes to cardamom bun. It is magic, the lamination top notch, the sweetness understated - especially right out of the oven. Oh, there is other deliciousness. We will be back to take survey in the near future

After grabbing a cup of coffee down the street, I stopped by Little Red Hen Bakery for a pastry. It's a small shop and I wish I tried the bread. I got a Cardamom Roll. It was sweet and good. A little on the harder side as far as texture. Cute spot to sit outside and look towards the water.

A tiny cute bakery where they prepare the breads and croissants right in front of you. No espresso drinks, but an extensive variety of baked goods. All their seating is outdoors with a view of the water in the distance. Friendly service. We ordered: 1. Bacon cheddar scallion scone 2. Chocolate croissant 3. Orange chocolate croissant 4. Almond croissant 5. Rosemary olive boule The scone was moist and the croissants were flaky goodness...but nothing was extraordinary. 3.5 stars

Unfortunately, I had already driven out of town when I discovered the problem, so I couldn't bring the food back. Why would I want to spend more money at a place that just sold me food I couldn't even eat? Mistakes happen, but good customer service means making things right when the customer receives a bad product. I'm very disappointed with how this was handled and will think twice before spending my money here again.

Praised as the "Best Pie Place" in Seattle, I had to see for myself what their pies were like. Situated in Langley, its a small storefront that is connected to a similarly sized cafe. In front there are some parking spots that usually aren't full. They sell pies by the slice, whole pies, and there are even frozen whole pie options available in the freezer. There is complimentary water but not much seating options. The pies are baked daily I believe BUT if you have the chance to get one of the freshly baked pies (only been on the shelf an hour or so), you'll get some of the most beautiful crust experiences. All 3 times I've been I've reached for the Marionberry pie and every single time it's been a hit for whoever I end up bringing here. They have gluten free options for the pies as well but there is no guarantee that there would be a gluten free option for every pie-- I could be wrong on that, I would recommend calling in advance. A wonderful little pie store for a lovely little town, I would definitely come back again! The first time I asked the person behind the counter about the flavor profile of their Marionberry and their seasonal flavor, they were super helpful and descriptive. I saw that they now sell their pies through retailers now which would let me have their pies without having to travel as far. Love the pie here and love the ambiance of this small store!

I ordered a slice of apple pie; the staff kindly offered to warm it up, which was a thoughtful touch and appreciated on a cool island afternoon. The slice arrived warm and comforting -- flaky crust, tender apple filling, and a pleasant cinnamon note. It wasn't a showstopper for me and felt a little overhyped compared with the glowing word-of-mouth, but it was a solid, satisfying pie slice that hits the nostalgic notes you want from a bakery apple pie. If you're touring downtown and want a convenient, friendly spot for pie by the slice (or to take a whole pie home), Whidbey Pie is worth a stop.
