This is now an annual tradition on our trips to Whidbey Island. The ice cream is nice n creamy with most of your favorite flavors. Their 'single' scoop is 3 smaller scoops that allow you to try 3 different flavors if you want. Their 'double' is 5 scoops. Every time we have went there's a line out the door and no place to sit inside. You basically go in, get your ice cream, and eat it elsewhere. Man, this place is just crazy weird. I come in, ask the guy for 2 scoops in a bowl. He starts in with this algebraic equation.... He says that there is no single scoop or double scoop. He says that there is a 3 scoop, or a 6 scoop. Then he goes into, "If you're over 50, you can get a true single scoop" I'm like, wtf, over?? We ordered a five scoop in a cup of the strawberry, cherry, pistachio, huckleberry and coconut. All the flavors came together in tandem and what we truly enjoyed is that it wasn't too sugary and very reasonably priced. I highly recommend this ice cream shop. read more

The coffee almond fudge flavor is the best coffee type of ice cream that I ever had in my life! Indeed the best coffee from Seattle put into this product that I wish that I could have more of it! Service went by quick with the line because they had a laminated FAQ page outside the door and by the front counter that you could reference as you decide what to order. It included the types of flavors and cones available, and how many scoops that you could have on each cone. Prices a bit high for such small scoops. Tight little baby shop with so many visitors. Great ice cream in an historic building in a really cute bayside town. Small inside, so the line can wrap outside and down the ramp. No indoor seating. Ice cream flavors are posted along the way so you have it figured out when you get inside. Not your typical single or double scoop, a little confusing really. Nice selection of flavors. Not sure who makes the ice cream, apparently a place in Portland, but it's really good, rich and creamy. Prices are very reasonable. A single scoop comes with 3 flavors for $5 (tax included), and they don't ask you to tip (unless you really want to). The line was slightly shorter at 2pm on Saturday, so we lined up and we got our ice cream after 5 minutes. I picked salted caramel, huckleberry cheesecake, and strawberry. All of them are delicious, and the portions are good. I read their top 10 flavors, but I only remember the top 1 flavor is salted caramel and the 2nd one is mint chocolate. Huckleberry cheese flavor is on the list, but not the huckleberry one, so I ordered the cheesecake one in the end. There is no place to sit in store and it's takeout only, so try to find a bench closeby or in the town to enjoy your ice cream! We always love going to Kapaw's when we are in town. They offer a "single" scoop which is actually 3 small scoops, and you can choose 3 different flavors if you so desire. They also have larger scoops, but I've found that a small is more than enough ice cream. There are a few different cone options, my favorite being the cake cone. I will note that the way they seal their waffle cones makes it so the ice cream doesn't leak out the bottom as it begins to melt (a small but convenient thing). This time I went for huckleberry cheesecake, mint chip and triple chocolate. I absolutely loved the huckleberry cheesecake which boasted chunks of cheesecake in the ice cream. For anyone looking for a stronger huckleberry flavor they do offer a straight huckleberry ice cream. Others in my party went for the wolf tracks, caramel toffee, pistachio, burgundy cherry and chocolate. Kids loved the blue bubble gum and rainbow sherbet, and we loved the caramel truffle, cherry, and almond fudge. We also got a shake with espresso; sooo good.
