This place was delicious! We went back several times during our time at Oak Harbor. The service was great and very friendly

They're working to expand the gluten-free options! Friendly staff, delicious drinks. Banana cake was excellent.

Bean curd buns are the best! Fair prices, freshly baked! They do special orders. I love going in there, clean and welcoming.

The outside is repainted and the inside looked wonderful! It's just tacky to still have the statues outside, but that's okay. Some things just need to stay as is because it's history. We were greeted and got to sit anywhere we wanted. I was there for Pho so that's what I got. The house special. It was so delicious! Also ordered an order of spring rolls and a matcha strawberry latte. All so very delicious. The server was kind and attentive. Checked in on us. We both devoured our meals. I would definitely go back again!

Both were good and flavorful although served in a take out cups. We also ordered chicken wings which were crisp but mostly flavorless and may have taken a second trip in the fryer. Again served in a take out box without plates. The sampler of spring rolls were also lacking flavor and were a bit small on added main ingredient such as shrimp. We finally had to obtain a separate plate to eat off. It seemed that neither owner/operator was friendly and had the wrong demeanor to operate a restaurant. We did not order the hot dogs but someone near us ordered them and they seemed like corn dogs like you buy at the grocery store. Ambiance was clean but somewhat sterile and seemed to lean towards fast food . Parking was plentiful. Try it you may like it....

First, I want places like this to succeed, I really do. Local bakeries and coffee shops are some of…read moremy favorite places but I can't give very high marks to Amaya's. I've been here several times and each time I left thinking it would be my last. My intention is not to dump on a small business so I'll do my best to offer a sincere critique. Ambiance: No music, mostly empty shelves, sparse selection of baked goods, feels a bit empty--like they're going out of business. Any one of these could be overlooked but combined they make for a poor experience. Food/drink: Coffee is on par with what's around here. You won't find specialty roasts or fancy techniques, but it's good. If you're looking for fancy-pants coffee you'll have to head to Pelican Bay bookstore in Anacortes. The baked goods I've tried are, unfortunately, underwhelming. I typically go for their gluten free options and have found them to have textures that are too grainy with flavors on the bland side. The cookies are fine, the gluten free scones are quite bad--flavorless, super dense and hard, not crumbly, kinda sticky. This was the only baked good I've ever tossed. I have yet to try their pies or cakes. Their regular cookies are pretty good but are a bit pricey for the size. Staff: The staff seem a little awkward and shy. I prefer a friendly customer experience. I've only had one visit here where the staff made an attempt at small talk. Usually they stay out of sight. Someone else might like this, it's just not for me. Final thoughts: I'm giving Amaya's 3 stars not because I think they've necessarily earned them, but bc I want them to succeed and I've only been here 4 or 5 times so I don't have a robust experience sample. I hope they do well and would still encourage a visit. We need more small businesses. I would, however, discourage the gluten free scones. Avoid them at all costs

My husband tried their Jalapeño cheddar quiche with his soy latte and he was pleased. I had the kolache for the first time and I loved them for the bread softness. I asked to warm the sausage kolache in the oven and it tasted better. Then we shared the Marion berry kolache! Yummy!! Ellie (sp.?) served us nicely. The place has few tables to sit in and enjoy the goodies while we savor them and the peacefulness of the moment. I am always drawn to the aroma of the freshly baked bread and danish.
