Since then, she has been keeping me adjusted and helping me to learn about how I can best live a full and active life with this condition. She is a wealth of knowledge, takes the time to answers all of my questions thoroughly, and has the ability to to explain things in a way that make total sense. And on top of all that, she's personable and funny. Both Dr. Stephenson and Tiffany, her front desk staff, have always made me feel comfortable and well taken care of during my appointments. And while I am in the office, I can see them treat other patients with the same care and respect. Dr. Stephenson has taken the time to come up with an individualized treatment plan for me, including the exercises and stretches that I need to do in order to keep moving forward. I do travel quite a bit, and Dr. Stephenson has also come up with alternative exercises that are travel friendly. At the beginning of my treatments, she used some alternative modalities that were quite helpful, such as cupping for the pain. She also is quite skilled at acupuncture, which helped quite a bit when I was having neck issues. Now my dog, who has been having acupuncture treatments for a few years due to a spinal issue, also sees Dr. Stephenson. Many from the Oakwood surgery center claimed to not know how to find this out. Until I talked to the older lady at the front. She knew a little about how you can request someone. I called and called and no one got back to me until the day before the surgery. But I did some research of my own and found the Austin Anesthiology Group supplied the Oakwood surgery center. I was most impressed by the backgrounds of doctors Orth, Eddings and Patel. Well at of these only Eddings was willing to make it. So the day of surgery I am in the hospital bed and I had a panic attack because the young nurse kept talking about complications like bleeding, blood vessel damage. Suddenly my blood pressure drops and I am covered in sweat. Just then Dr. Eddings comes in and I thank him for making it and he's like of course. He doesn't draw attention to my condition and just winks at my husband and says after we interview you i've got the good stuff in my pocket-that will make you not even care about any of this. I remember thinking that's impossible. Another impressing thing was that he remembered all of my prep interview that I filled out online and doubled checked with me about the important items. Then sure enough after I was given "the good stuff" I felt good enough to put all my trust in my doctors and announce that they would surely do their best and that I would see them later. I was put in the OR and the general "stuff" burned like hell. Dr. Eddings very professionally said, we will help you with that. What he meant was you'll be out in a few seconds but he chose to not draw attention to the fact that I would soon be under the knife but instead comforted me with what words he chose to use. Very, very skilled professional! He was also reasonable about the amount to pain meds and the type and made sure my husband got them to me exactly 5 hours after surgery. I've had surgery before and trust me-you NEVER want to feel ALL of that post surgery pain. I can't say enough about this doctor!!! I would trust him with my life and the life of my loved ones over and over! 8D

She fixed not only what the wreck caused (chest pain from the seatbelt) but also my neck pain. I am now at 2 years without neck pain. We had a very concerning experience with Dr. Vilas Saldanha (Texas Orthopedics), on-call at St…read more David's Round Rock Medical Center, during my 93-year-old mother's treatment after a fall. Dr. Saldanha did not directly communicate with my mother at any point during her hospitalization. He never greeted her or spoke to her, and all communication was directed to me, even though she was the patient. That set the tone for the entire experience. After a closed reduction, she was provided a shoulder immobilizer, but only the sling portion was applied. The abduction pillow component was not used or explained, and there was confusion among hospital staff and physical therapy about how the full device was meant to be used. As a result, she effectively wore only the sling for about three weeks, with no clear written instructions or proper guidance on its use. No physical therapy instructions were provided. Physical therapy later contacted Dr. Saldanha's office and was told she could begin weight-bearing exercises on the knee that had been described as having a "cracked patella." No PT was recommended for her shoulder. At follow-up, the physician assistant said the knee was "chipped," stopped the exercises, and asked whether a knee brace had been provided (it had not). He indicated a small stability brace could still be helpful. At the same visit, we were told her shoulder had become misaligned again. Shoulder replacement was briefly mentioned by the PA but immediately dismissed with the comment that "we wouldn't want her to not wake up from surgery." Despite the worsening alignment, the treatment plan remained unchanged, except that she could now "dangle her arm," and we were told to return in four weeks. We sought an immediate second opinion. That orthopedist found the shoulder was severely damaged with multiple fractures and required urgent reverse shoulder replacement with CT planning. We were also told the knee was already beyond the window for intervention. After a thorough evaluation, surgery was performed, and I'm happy to say she is now recovering well. The difference in evaluation, communication, and clarity between the two experiences was striking. In our experience, this was not appropriate care for a medically vulnerable elderly patient, and I would not recommend this physician for elderly patients or similar cases.

I was referred to Dr. Saldanha from another Orthopedic Surgeon, because my knee was not getting…read morebetter. The referring physician was no longer doing knee replacements, so I made my appointment and sort of braced myself for the worst. Some doctors are brash, He was incredibly easy to talk to, he asked if I was OK with having PAs in the room, he looked at my X-rays, and did an exam. He was very kind when he said "Do you feel how this is moving?" (Oh, yes, I was aware!) "It's time." He didn't push, he wasn't unkind, or using a lot of jargon that went over my head; he listened to my questions and answered them with thoughtfulness and consideration. He explained why he used the Mako robotic arm to assist him in doing the least amount of damage to the interior of my leg, and that since he'd tried it, he'd never gone back. Personally, I like to know the "why" of a physician's decision. It took a few cancelled times to get into the hospital - completely not his fault. His office kept me up to date to the best of their ability, and when it finally came to be - well, it was a really dramatic difference. I can't really tell you about the surgery or the room it was done in, other than to saay I think there was a lot of white. I did have some issue with drainage for about 10 days and pain control the first two nights. For what all the surgery entailed, that's nothing. When I needed help with the drainage, I was squeezed in to figure out an alternative way of controlling the fluids. Then I was sent to a wound care specialist, not left on my own to try and mummy wrap my leg. That was in incredible held. Within a week - I felt comfortable walking my house without a walker. I could stand long enough to throw together something simple to eat. I was able to move around the house, and slowly work up to more of my normal tasks. I'm in Physical Therapy now, and Dr. Saldanha is happy with my range of motion. My scars are already fading, and I expect them to be almost invisible in a few months. When I ask questions, I get answers, not a pat on the head and a "Let me worry about that for you." If I needed to do this all over tomorrow - if the joint were to be recalled or something equally critical, so long as Dr. Saldanha was doing the surgery, I'd be on my way to the hospital tonight.

They baited and switched me with my insurance after spending hours on the phone with them confirming she does accept my insurance. I tried rescheduling my second appointment with her due to my personal life being hectic that month, and I was met with accusations about me that were not needed. I spoke with a billing representative in September and she promised me the fee was waived due to my experience with this company. Turns out it never was and they are now trying to charge me once again and threatening it gets sent to collections. I had to have my bank block them because numerous times they have tried to draft random amounts of money. Not one manager or supervisor has reached out to me about this in months.
